Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Warm regards.
Avatar f tn I have been reading that minocycline can cause black thyroid in some people and can take up to a year to reverse after stopping medication. it is given to teenagers for acne and my son was on it for 6 mths twice a day having severe headaches yet the dr ignored it until I googled and realized that it could be effecting his thyroid and causing the headaches since those were listed as symptoms and wondered if anyone else ran into that.....his thyroid test did come back 4.6 with the top normal of 4.
Avatar n tn The only thing that seemed to lighten it a bit was using selsun blue and then alcohol (rubbing the rash with it daily), but my skin began to dry out and what a mess the selsun blue became. I went to dermatologist after dermatologist and nothing so..I had basically gave up on it and stopped caring. I went to my pain management appt complainting of pain, they tested me saying that they think that I have lymes disease...
Avatar n tn Later that week I was brushing my teeth and happened to venture up a little further and noticed my upper gum line looked funny. I rinsed my mouth out and pulled up my upper lip to expose my gum line. And there it was...blue gums!!! I called my derm dr. again a little upset and she said yes that's probably from the mino treatment too. I just don't know what to do from here. Is there some organization I should make aware of the adverse effects this has had on my body?
Avatar f tn I know exactly how you feel, it's as if ants were crawling on your back biting the **** out of you or something. I've had chemo and radiation therapy and it brought my excema back out and made me dry as a bone. What you need to do is limit yourself on scented things, such as lotions, body fragrances, and hot showers/baths. If you will go to Walgreens Pharmacy and purchase some VaniCream and Some VaniCream Soap, it is a liitle pricy but it works.
Avatar m tn I had my dentsit check this a few weeks ago and he looked at it and told me its not oral cancer and not to worry about it.since then i was using orajel anticeptic mouth wash it said use it for only 7 days i used it for 2 weeks guess i used it to long. Its almost looks like a layer of skin came off my tonue cause its lower where theres no white moss stuff.I tryed to take it off white my finger tip the moss it doesnt seems to wanna come off.
Avatar f tn I have been going through something very similar. I was prescribed Minocycline (a very evil drug) for my cystic acne back in November. Within just a couple days something terrible happened...and it happened so quick. Something just clicked...and then all of the sudden I started to have the most awful thoughts that I have ever had in my entire life. And these thoughts aren't thoughts that I've had before.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am 43 and have this around my chin, between my eyebrows and it is getting worse in both areas. I was prescribed sulfacetamide sodium topical suspension 10% 3 weeks ago. Yesterday, after 3 phone calls, I was prescribed Minocycline 100mg # 30. Can you tell me why Doxy is preferred to Minocycline? Does the Doxy work faster than the Mino? I am allergic to NSAIDS if that makes any difference.
Avatar m tn I have been on Minocycline for coming up 9 years now and i'm currently down to one 50mg pill a day to control my acne, my question is what effects does it have on my cognitive ability and memory over such a long period of time.
Avatar f tn is there a way to reduce or remove the large scale blackening of my skin, and is this a common side effect of long term antibiotics, such as minocycline or levaquin? Is there a better oral antibiotic (than minocycline) for trteating staphaureas? Should I accept this discoloration?
Avatar f tn We decided to use a topical cream, for the more oily areas on my face, and for me to take a 100mg dosage of Apo-Minocycline two times a day (morning and night). This worked fantastic for a few months. Eventually, I developed this odd rash on one side of my neck. The skin was very red and dry, somewhat scaly/bumpy, a bit raised, uneven + about the size/shape of my thumb. It kind of itched/hurt as well. I wasn't sure if it was connected to my skincare or not, so I continued with my routine.
Avatar f tn t really understand what the connection was, but I wanted to know if I could trust my HIV test results even though I am on Minocycline, and was for months before, during, and after my HIV test. Also, just to ease my mind, is there ANYTHING else that could effect the validity of an HIV test (aspirin, menstrual cycle, diet, anything)? Thank you so much in advance, I really appreciate your help.
Avatar f tn I have been on and off antibiotics for this, including cephalexin (twice) and minocycline. My skin clears up on the medication but it breaks out again about week after treatment ends. I was also given some topical treatments, including a benzoyl peroxide wash and ketoconazole shampoo (used a body wash) to alternate with every day, and clindamycin topical lotion which i did not see much improvement with. I even tried nasal mupiricin ointment because my doctor thought it was staph.
Avatar n tn I have gone to the doctors 3 times and I've just been given Benadryl and Minocycline. Both of which have not helped me at all. As time passes on, this issue has gotten worse and worse. I used to only get those bumps every so often, now I get it atleast 2 times a day.
Avatar n tn I have heard that my skin could be going through withdrawl from the steroid cream. Is this normal for my skin to get worse before it gets better using this type of antibiotic? Will it get better using this Minocycline.
Avatar m tn I know you said this thread is ended but could you please take a look at this and tell me what you think of it and could this data indicate that minocycline could indeed slow down replication making it possible for delayed seroconversion, which would make my test at the 5 month mark inaccurate. http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/201/8/1132.full This is where all of my anxiety has came from.
Avatar m tn A month ago before going on Minocycline and after the shots had worn off, My itchyness was nearly gone even though I still had the small raised bumps where I had itched before. Now I am having red patches that develop out of nowhere and itch like mad, then disappear only to leave a papular rash. What could this be? I've been to the Dermatologist several times and to an Allergist. No real answers, an allergy test showed that I wasn't allergic to anything.
Avatar m tn The test was a rapid antibody test. Can someone please weigh in and tell me could minocycline possibly be used as a PEP drug for HIV? And if so, should I be worried about my status? Should I test again? I'm worried because I read on the web minocycline is an investigatory drug for HIV that has been shown to reduce replication of the virus. Here's the link. http://jid.oxfordjournals.org/content/201/8/1132.full Please advise. Any replies are helpful. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I notice that you have suggested oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs to combat perioral dermatitis. I've been suffering from this condition for about 2 years. I was pregnant when I was diagnosed with it and my doctor was only comfortable prescribing a topical antibiotic. This did very little to help the condition.
Avatar f tn I am on minocycline and it says some stuff about peoples skin being itchy but not very much about scalp itching. It is mostly on the back of my head. I dont know if it is lice or anything else. It is really annoying. Any help?
Avatar n tn I was also on Minocycline and when I fell pregnant had to stop taking it under my doctors advice. I don't think you should worry about it harming your baby from taking it the past few weeks but you should stop taking it and maybe talk to your doctor about alternatives. I still continued to use the topical face treatment and I actually found that during my pregnancy my skin has cleared up a lot.
Avatar m tn 3% not as strong as the retin a mico 0.1% i was on and minocycline 100 mg daily to 40 mg a day oracea for only redness and not pimples would help ?seems like it would make it worse..please explain...
Avatar n tn Has anyone ever successfully used antibiotics (minocycline, etc.) for Psoriatic Arthritis? Please share.
Avatar n tn He seemed to think it was a type of acne and has given me minocycline. If I do have KP or chicken skin is this an effective medication? The bumps are very hard to squeeze and if they are squeezable a very small amount of white stuff comes out. which resembles a fine string. Any ideas? Diagnosis?
