Avatar f tn YES.....Any age can suffer a stroke. I was 26 when I had my stroke. My friend was had her baby and 3 hours after he was delivered he had a stroke, a baby! It can happen at any age. Just know the side effects of a stroke coming on, the sooner you know the faster you can get treatment. Time lose is brain loss. There are various types of strokes. My stroke was in the brainstem, they consider that to be the worsekind. Your brainstem is like a central hub of your bodies functions.
Avatar m tn i recently had a mini stroke and had heart attack over year ago with stents put in etc. now my blood pressure has been running left arm 160 over 88 and right arm 180 over 110 this doesnt seem to be a great concern to my physician but it is a great concern to me.
Avatar f tn People often age after going through something like that. Be thankful that it was a mini stroke and that you aren't confined to a wheelchair or have paralysis for the rest of your life. Do you have family you could discuss your feelings with?...a dear girlfriend?...sister? If you are able to do so, you might volunteer somewhere in your community...maybe with true stroke victims...and not only help them, but help you, too.
Avatar f tn Although a stroke can manifest as a transient visual disturbance, that is relatively unusual. But something is going on, and you best have it checked out. Anything having to do with vision is VERY important. You cannot be turned down for medical assistance in the event of possible blindness because of financial reasons. If it happens? Good! Take them to court! (Just make sure that you sue for the cost of a chauffer).
Avatar f tn are ct scans any use at all and if it was mini stroke would it not have shown something.
Avatar m tn I am 78 and had a mini stroke 11 Jun 2014. I was placed in the hospital for overnight observation and was released the following day to my family doctor. I have high blood pressure so he placed me on Exforge 10-325-25mg HCT and also Clopidogrel 75mg In the hospital I had a MRA, MRI, CATSCAN, Chest Xray and several blood tests. I lost peripheral vision in the left eye. When I left the hospital I had this slight lump across from my left ear about 1 inch long pointing to the top of my head.
Avatar f tn Is it possible that without me realizing it that I may have had a mini stroke and not know it or am I over reacting? Since then my blood pressure has been 150/90.

Avatar n tn I'm glad your husband's BP is coming down. I am not a doctor, so I have no idea what could have happened. Maybe a mini-stroke? I just don't know, sorry. Was he on BP meds BEFORE this happened? What is he taking now? I'll keep him in my prayers...
Avatar n tn Hi i have been vomiting for around 12 days now. this came on suddenly. I am very active, and eat fairly healthily. I had to take to my bed for 4 days as was very weak. The doctor visited twice, and said ihad Malaria symptoms but test was negative. All blood tests have been negative so far. 7 days into 'illness' i had 2 fainting spells followed by a TIA (mini stroke). all tests so far have shown nothing abnormal, heart and chest scans etc are clear.
Avatar n tn Hi I was wondering if the misdiagnosis of a TIA/Mini Stroke is possible. Recently I was at my friends house for a social gathering and I experienced what I thought at the time was a mini stroke. Symptoms appeared out of nowhere and included drooping of facial muscles on left side of face, slurring and difficulty forming sentences, chest pain, visual hallucinations (including but not limited to room breathing i.

Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? A transient ischaemic attack (TIA) often called a mini stroke, happens when the brain’s blood supply is interrupted for a very brief time. The symptoms are very similar to a stroke (such as weakness on one side of the body, loss of sight and slurred speech) but they are temporary, lasting a few minutes or hours, and then disappearing completely within 24 hours.
Avatar f tn i am a 42 year old female. last year i had a tia (mini stroke) followed by severe fatigue, migraines, bone pain, shaking chills with no fever, pale skin and ringing in my ears. they found I have several vitamin deficiencies in b12, folic acid, D and iron but it is unknown as to why. I have had multiple blood tests, any you can imagine, including for leukemia and all negative. i have high leukocytes on the regular and daily runny nose qith occasional sore throat.
Avatar f tn My Mother was recently diagnosed as probably having had a mini stroke or something similar. What would something similar be? Also, could a situation that caused a person to panic cause a stroke?
Avatar f tn m making a come back, yes there have been set backs, i returned last jan,09 for bone flap surgery which made a huge improvement in my quality of life, but recently i have has a mini stroke/ seizure which left me angry at the world, my recovery was coming along so well , i was even walking 50ft with no cane and now i'm having to get back to where i was, is this depressing yes, but it's a fact and there is no quick fix, and there are gonna be set backs but given his age and hopefully willp
Avatar n tn   I was just wondering, what do you do during a mini stroke? Do you get up and start walking around to get the blood flow going, (that's what I do), or do you sit down and relax? It's crazy that this mini stroke came back into my life! I had it come and go for about six months when I was younger back in 2006. When it happened back then, my whole right side of my body was paralyzed.
Avatar m tn not diabetic but I was diagnosed as having a mini stroke Tia caused by having a migraine headache. My left side dropped with tingling and numbness, burr vision and slurred speech. My question is after all the years that has passed what was so different about this migraine that was so different?
Avatar n tn ve had same problem for 16 yrs this week I had and echo with bubble done on my heart they found a hole in my heart which is normal in 25 percent of population but for me the pfo or hole in my heart causes tia or mini stroke there is a procedure that can fix hole but not approved by fda so not approved
Avatar m tn Hi Mairtin I also replied to your other thread. I noticed here that you mention an enlarged left atrium too. That's also another risk factor for eventual stroke. At your present age and taking coumadin, your risk of stroke is really minimal--- just about zero. As you get older, the odds go up. I would guess your (and my) chances are as high as 25% of eventually having a stroke during our lifetime (I'm not happy with those odds either).
Avatar n tn Hello dear, You probably had a Transient Ischaemic Attack or a mini stroke caused by the temporary disturbance of blood supply to a restricted area of the brain, resulting in brief neurologic dysfunction that usually persists for less than 24 hours. The most frequent symptoms include temporary loss of vision ; difficulty speaking (aphasia); weakness on one side of the body (hemiparesis); and numbness or tingling (paresthesia), usually on one side of the body.
Avatar f tn Hi, this could be mini stroke or raised intracranial pressure; both have similar kind of presentation. What is your age and are you hypertensive or diabetic? Please consult doctor and get MRI done and do check your blood pressure. For more information regarding TIA or mini stroke visit http://en.wikipedia.
