not proven yet. I wanted to take Milk Thistle to protect my liver but my GI strongly against it.Milk Thistle has been proven to be effective to protect the liver (Taiwan Research). Is there any synergy between antiviral + milk thistle medication? I alway believe that killing the virus w/ antiviral medication and taking the milk thistle same time as liver protection will be the best combination but not too sure on the contradict between these two drugs.
I just found out that yet another bi-product of this addiction has taken another. A good friend of mine's daughter just died due to acetaminaphen overdose! I think this is the biggest epidemic for almost anyone taking pain medication with Tylenol in it. I used to think Dr.'s were punishing me by giving me 5/500 hydrocodones and would often throw them away or CWE them because of all of the Tylenol.

For now my question to the forum is do you think it is a good idea to add a Milk Thistle supplement to my daily intake (which is Entecavir 0.5 mg and Vitamin D3/K2 supplement tablets)??....I just wondered if the Milk Thistle might in some way negatively affect the workings of the NUC.

So many of you are taking Milk thistle (Silymarin) anyway that I thought you'd enjoy knowing it might have another positive attribute. I know these are just preliminary studies but livers and brains are both so essential...maybe it will pan out.
We do have the right to express our opinions, with a few exceptions, health matters being one of them, that arena needs peer reviewed science. Did I miss something regarding milk thistle? The main point seems to be milk thistle "walls" off the live preventing it from doing its job.
I am planning on going back to get another blood test soon, however, wanted to share with the group that I started taking Milk Thistle about three weeks ago to see whether this might help lower my enzyme levels to normal. What I have been finding is that I no longer need to take the prilosec or zantac, there is something (or appears to be something) in the Milk Thistle that is both helping me feel better as well as well as lowering my need for prilosec or other antacids.
I was diagnosed with Hep-c and Cirrhosis on Jan.5th 2015.....both Chronic ? My viral load is 676 , my meld score is 12....I have no idea what any of this means ? I'm 54 years old ! I have no insurance and Ive been turned down from Medicaid 2 times...Which means No G.I. Doctor , in fact no Dr. at all but a Primary Doctor at a clinic here in Savannah Ga. ! He informed me he knows absolutely nothing about liver disease's etc.
