Avatar m tn Bill, I never did take milk thistle but personally can't see the harm, except that I'm conservative about taking too much of anything. Certainly my health food store promotes it and thinks it's a tragedy that I'm on interferon! It's very popular in Europe, especially in Germany. It can provide a false sense of security, though, because your liver can deteriorate, independently of the thistle.

That said, there are members here who have reported that their hepatologists had no problem with their patients taking it. Some hepatologists say it's okay to take only before or after treatment itself and some say it's even okay to take during treatment. I would definitely look to the advice of your own hepatologist in this matter, if you want to pursue it.
