What does anyone know about Milk Thistle and/or Licorice Root for liver function? I've heard that in the beginning of the disease it can help. Not so in the end stages. Also, does anyone have any input regarding Noni juice?
We do have the right to express our opinions, with a few exceptions, health matters being one of them, that arena needs peer reviewed science. Did I miss something regarding milk thistle? The main point seems to be milk thistle "walls" off the live preventing it from doing its job.
Do check your diet. One high in calcium (cheese, milk, yoghurt) and fats can lead to kidney stones. Also you must drink water to keep the kidneys hydrated and efficient.
My male friend gets them often and I have watched him go through them and the advice above is what the doctor's tell him every time.
As you have had/still have calcium oxalate stones, your risk of getting more kidney stones is much increased. Although there are kidney stones as calcium stones but Drinking milk does not cause kidney stones. Hence your mother can take dairy products under her doctor’s guidance.

My experience with milk thistle was a miracle.Before starting the hcv treatment hubby took milk thistle just for a month and it reduced his alt ast levels from above 150 to 65 and 60......Dnt take heavy dose just 400mg a day and if it dnt give any benefits it will also dnt harm.......it's very safe............
I have had kidney stones since 2001. Currently (as of May 1) I have had a 15 mm and a 10 mm (as well as several of their babies) in my kidney. I have been scheduled for a systoscopy but when I went for my pre-op, I had extremely (dangerous) high blood pressure. I have never had this high blood pressure in my life (even when I went to the emergency room for kidney stone attacks).
Depends on the type of stone. I was told to drink more water when I passed mine. It could be calcium build up, but it could be because of some other issue too. You'd have to take the stone in to have it properly analyzed to know for sure.

s all connected to the kidney stones since I just happen to have had the kidney stone pain not long after the onset of these symptoms. What suprises me, is that because I'm Lactose intolerant, I can't see how I can be taking in much calcium anyway, since my milk costs 250% of the price of regular milk.
