Avatar f tn Generally, herbs aren't used in isolation. Milk thistle is good at cleansing the liver, but it is usually used in formula with other herbs that affect the liver in different ways. You also have to be careful with milk thistle. For example, if you're on medication, it can cleanse the medication out of your system before it has a chance to work. Other herbs that support the liver don't have this effect. It all depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

Anyone know or have experience with Milk Thistle? Thanks.
Avatar f tn What I have been finding is that I no longer need to take the prilosec or zantac, there is something (or appears to be something) in the Milk Thistle that is both helping me feel better as well as well as lowering my need for prilosec or other antacids. My question is, has anyone else tried Milk Thistle and has it helped their acid reflux?

Avatar f tn Milk Thistle is good for the liver, as it helps the liver to rid itself of toxins. You do not want to take it while on treatment though, as it will rid the liver of the treatment drugs. You want them to stay in you liver as long as possible, as you want the drugs to work. You can find a lot of information on the net, if you google Milk Thistle and Milk Thistle drug interaction.
