Common Questions and Answers about Milk protein whey protein

milk

Avatar f tn I tried googling this earlier in my pregnancy and didn't like what I found... that none are really "good" for me or baby right now. I went with veggie & fruit smoothies and used soy milk as it had higher protein content (vs other but mills). But I want to know if anyone else has found out anything else!
Avatar f tn Whey protein itself is generally good for pregnant women, however ready made protein shakes can contain additives and preservatives that aren't so good for momma and/or baby.
1464587 tn?1307491605 Unless you are allergic to milk proteins, whey protein should not increase inflammation. Whey is considered king in protein supplementation, however, vegan protein is also very good. Either would be likely be fine. But I recommend you run all of this by your treating physician for confirmation and guidance.
Avatar f tn Whey protein powder is better.
Avatar f tn Hi all! My hubby is wanting to get back in shape eventually after we figured out if he's cleared the hep c virus for sure. My question is, is whey protein safe if you have liver issues? I've heard someone say no but I never knew the reasoning. We put a call into his doctor but I just wanted to see if any of you might know.
Avatar n tn As a result of my hypothyroidism, I have developed and eating disorder over the years which I am finally working on. My nutritionist, who I do like, wants me to drink whey protein shakes (1 per day) to get my protein levels up. A friend of mine with hypo told me to STOP drinking them, and considering I am on new medication (Armour-2 grains) and gaining weight with recurring hypo symptoms (please, do not tell me to eat less, I am eating under 1300 calories a day), she may be right.
Avatar m tn From what I have read so far, they suggest whey protein isolate over whey protein concentrate. They say isolate has more protein but from natural factors website, it's suggested that isolate are treated with heat and are somewhat denatured. NaturalFactros also say this is why isolate is poor quality than whey protein concentrate. Now both contradict one another. But I believe concentrate is better since it is treated with less heat and other chemical process etc. What do you think?
Avatar f tn Casein (approximately 80%) and Whey Protein (approximately 20%). Whey protein is more soluble than casein and also has a higher quality rating. It is often referred to as the "Gold Standard" of protein as it is the most nutritious protein available. Amino Acids make up protein. Protein makes up basically everything in your body. In fact the only thing our body has more of than protein is water. It really is as simple as that.
Avatar f tn There are of course many different sources of protein in supplements -- soy, rice, egg, milk (many whey protein supplements and bars also contain milk protein) -- anything that contains protein can be made into a protein supplement.

10389360 tn?1410823968 I love making fruity and delicious protein shakesfor breakfast but have been reading mixed reviews about whey protein. I havent been to my OB yet, but my dr said to stick to my diet. Forgot to mention the powder. Thoughts?

971283 tn?1247767572 finger joints started hurting and now more fingers are affected. I started dieting ... low carbs, low sugar, mostly veggies but use whey protein bars AND whey protein powder for my high protein diet. I find that I am putting on weight and the pain in the finger joints is quite bad right now. What did you do to reverse this ? Should I just stop this protein intake ?
Avatar m tn To answer your questions, you can eat regular food to get the protein you need without using the supplements. Eggs and milkshakes (with skim milk) give you additional protein as the same as the protein shakes. The recommended dosage of protein is 1g per kg of weight. Body builders state that you need to build muscle that is why you need the protein. You will need a little extra but not double your weight. Too much consummation of protein and if the body does not use it, it will store it as fat.
Avatar f tn whey, fish, dairy products (low fat variety), meats, unroasted nuts and seeds (almonds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds). Milk is one of the best muscle foods. The milk contains two high quality proteins, about 80 percent whey and 20 percent casein. Whey is quickly broken down into amino acids and absorbed into the bloodstream. Whey is very good to consume after workout.
Avatar f tn I would ask your Dr before using whey or casein protein powder... I'm sure it wouldn't do any harm every once in a while but it'd be best to check with them first.
