milk

Avatar f tn or allergy/intolrance with some dietary ingredient. Most babies with milk allergy are allergic to cow’s milk protein, while others are allergic to soy protein, and some to both. Breast-fed infants normally have stools that look like watery, yellow cottage cheese. Their stools also are frequent, often occurring during or after each feeding. Breast milk stools usually are sweet-smelling as compared to the stools of formula-fed infants.
1559857 tn?1312845930 s causing lactose intolerance BUT there seems to be a strong correlation between Celiac and casein intolerance. Lactose is the simple sugar of milk and casein is the protein of milk. It does make sense if you think about it.... If Celiac disease is an autoimmune reaction to gluten, (the protein in wheat) then it makes some sense that the protein in milk might also cause issues particularly because both proteins are literally sticky and bind in the small intestines.
Avatar f tn s a sort of allergy, or a digestive problem about breaking down milk proteins, similar to lactose intolerance being a digestive problem about breaking down milk sugars. Lactose intolerance sometimes follows milk protein intolerance. Milk protein intolerance is difficult to positively diagnose. But it tends to be a slower reaction than milk allergy, which is often quick, or lactose intolerance, which follows within a hour or so.
Avatar f tn But both my kids and I have intolerance to any milk (or casien) in any of our food. And yes we substitute with coconut milk, almond milk, and lots of veggies, I find veggies can substitute pretty much everything :-). We also dont eat red meat, well I dont, kids and husband sometimes do, but we get our iron from our veggies :-D.

Avatar m tn The undigested masses appearing in the stools of infants taking milk are usually spoken of as “curds.” These may be small, soft and white, and may make up a large part of the loose stool. An excess of mucous is usually present. [This was true with me too!] Such masses are composed almost entirely of fat. There are also seen, but much less frequently, larger smooth hard masses of a yellowish-brown color, but white on section.
Avatar f tn It is common for extremely premature infants such as your grandson to have feeding intolerance even at 2 weeks of life. Depending upon the individual baby, feeding can often seem to advance fitfully with many setbacks. This is a reflection of the immature development of the premature intestinal tract, which can take time to achieve full function.
Avatar m tn I am concerned about this and wish to remove her from soy and try almond milk (she has no tree nut allergies). My concern is almond milk has very little protein. What should I give her to provide her with enough protein that cow's milk has? Do I give her protein pills? Are there any side effects of almond milk?
Avatar f tn i have lactose intolerance and i am on a diet where i cant eat anything with milk not even if thrs just a little milk in a cookie recipe but lately i have been feeling like throwing up after i take lactaide if i go out i take it i feel like i have the flew but its off and on
1330108 tn?1333677304 Your valuable donation of breast milk will be used to make human milk fortifier and standardized human milk from 100% human milk.  Both will be available for very low birth weight infants and other seriously ill babies in the neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) across the United States.  While a mother’s breast milk can provide a large percentage of her premature baby’s needs, premature infants need more protein and calories than are naturally occurring in mother’s milk.
Avatar f tn My mother has a sore tongue at the moment which is getting better since she has stopped drinking milk. She has a casein (milk protein) intolerance and she can only handle drinking so much milk before symptoms show up. Up to 3 in 4 people are affected by food intolerance; the four main types of food intolerance are dairy, fructose, yeast and gluten. I have lactose intolerance myself.
Avatar f tn Here is a Q&A the answer is answered by world renound Dr Sears Q  My baby is ten and a half months old and has been exclusively breastfed since birth. She refuses formula and bottles defiantly. However, she will drink water, but only from a cup. Recently, she has stopped wanting to nurse, except once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I'd like to give her something other than water, especially at bedtime, to help get her through the night.
1339680 tn?1276744901 He may have milk protein or sugar intolerance. Sometime, other gastro-intestinal disorders may cause malabsorption resulting in diarrhoea. He may be having functional diarrhoea for which there is no cause. Infants often have watery diarrhoea intermittently associated with constipation. They might pass it immediately after waking up and after feeds. They may even pass undigested foodstuff in their stools. They may also have suffered vomiting in earlier stages of infancy. Dr.
Avatar n tn You appear to be intolerant to milk protein, based on that test. Many sensitive people can handle milk protein if they take a protease enzyme supplement just prior to consumption. I would not recommend you continue to consume dairy products without this enzyme supplement, as you can make the problem worse, over time. Better yet, you can take an enzyme blend that includes lactase and protease both.
Avatar f tn Milk allergy is very common. It causes a variety of symptoms from splitting headaches, tinnitus, skin irritation, asthma, wheezing, breathing problems, sore throat and gastro-intestinal/stomach problems. Imagine ingesting poison ivy. The body reacts everywhere it touches. Same with milk - it's NOT lactose intolerance, it's true allergy. Allergies get worse with exposure, not better so be sure to eliminate dairy products from everything!
Avatar f tn Some of these sysndroms are related to food intolerance such as the body inability to process protein. They can be managed by identifying the food that causes the issue in the brain (such as the seizure). In your case, she is only 11 weeks and milk/formula/ breast milk is the only food that she is taking, unless her doctor already took her off the milk based food. This is very easy to replace with a non-milk food type. Good luck and God bless your baby. I know what you are going through.
268356 tn?1236002604 Can you pass the milk please? I have really been downing ALOT of milk lately. Milk with my cereal, milk with a snack, and milk with my dinner and sometimes two or three glasses at a time. I don't think this is harmful, just odd. Any insight? Anyone else doing this too?
Avatar f tn I had called my family doctor once again because I feared Conner was suffering from both a Milk and Soy intolerance. My doctor finally refered me to a Pediatric GI and I had Conner seen that day. Everything went okay, it's better news than I had expected, but it's still news I was hoping I didn't get. One a good note, Conner is not allergic to soy(thank god). He does however have a severe Milk allergy that he may not outgrow.
Avatar n tn Diarrhea is a sign of intolerance. He may have trouble digesting cow's milk protein. You might have to take him to the Dr for formula recommendations. I'd either be soy or a formula that has partially digested milk proteins already. If you can start breastfeeding again i say go for it. Less of a hassle.
Avatar f tn Possibly. He supposedly had a milk protein allergy as an infant but by 1 years old when we tried real milk, he didn't have the same symptoms (excessive gas, blood in stool). We'll see how it goes. I did start cutting out his before bed milk.
Avatar f tn If you are allergic to milk, you can be allergic either to a protein in the milk or have lactose intolerance. Are you allergic to milk products? If not and if you are able to consume milk during daytime without any problem, then you are not allergic to milk. Some people are not able to take milk at night as it causes gas and bloating and vomiting. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn a possible cows milk protein intolerance/allergy, but will only drink aptamil 1st milk -21ozs a day and is on 3 meals a day, why is he putting on so little weight? my daughter is 2 and half and was loads bigger than him at the same age!!
4451049 tn?1387153437 Well, if you think you might be lactose intolerant and you drink milk, almond milk is the best alternative, tastes good too. Soy milk is not that good for you and doesnt taste so good.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, when child is less than 1 year, will regurgitate gastric into esophagus 10-15 times. But rarely child throws up. But at the age of 17 months it is unusual. She needs to be evaluated for such symptoms. Esophageal pH and impedance monitoring, Radiographic studies and Endoscopic studies will help to rule out the conditions. It will check for any abnormalities present in the esophagus and also the grading of acidity.
