Avatar n tn We did allergy testing on her, and she is allergic (not extreme) to milk amongst other foods. Time has passed, and I have been giving her some milk and other foods she was allergic to. She has been doing fine eating those foods. She still does not like milk. She will eat yogurt and cheese, but not all the time. I have been giving her some calcium medicine for kids that the doctor told me to give her. What else can I do about the calcium? Calcium helps strengthen the bones and teeth.
Avatar f tn I also found Hemp Milk at Whole Foods which is completely dairy, soy and salt free, in addition to salt free soups, chicken broth and other quick prep stuff. The diet is extremely restricted, but it's only for a limited time and for a very, very good reason.
2030686 tn?1351688548 Even the ones that specifically say milk free on the label have milk in them. Lactose free usually still has milk poducts in it and typically whey comes from milk. Any one else with a milk allergy on peg/riba who can help me out here? Any suggestions on what to do when I can't eat? Like I said, it's not lactose that's a problem, it's any milk products.
Avatar f tn s easier to stick with homecooking (as so many processed and convenience and junk foods, have milk products as one of their ingredients). Read the labels carefully for dairy products before using one of those now while on your rotation diet. For oils/fats, get some extra virgin olive oil. That, plus salt & pepper, should suffice for flavouring in simple cooking / serving. eg.
Avatar f tn You can be lactose intolerant too, but if lactose free milk makes you feel sick, just avoid all milk in general. You can maybe try drinking cream instead of milk if you want, or putting cream in coffee or tea instead of milk. Don't eat foods that make you feel sick, it can cause major health problems in the long run. I haven't really experimented with only eating cream, but I am going to try. Also I am not a doctor, just very observant and really smart.
Avatar f tn Well, let's see. Greek style yogurt isn't any different than any other yogurt, it just tastes different. And most commercial yogurt has no probiotics at all as they're killed during pasteurization. Only the better health food store yogurts have them as they're added back in after pasteurization. Beef and dairy are pro-inflammatory, and neither are true foods -- the only dairy for humans is mother's milk and no mammal tries to force freed other animal's milk to adults.
Avatar f tn Eating meats and no-fat dairy products will help keep up her protein levels without taking protein powders, and decrease the gallbladder issues. Avoid certain foods she cannot tolerate, even if they are on the list above. Hoped this helped you.

Avatar m tn From the weight you wrote, you are approximately 30lbs underweight for your height. You do need extra nutrients to gain some weight. From the literature, ITP is not a diet related disease or triggered by diet. You can take supplements, however, you would benefit more from the foods you eat. Suggest eating a moderate fat diet to gain weight slowly, protein (amino acids) and eat healthy.
Avatar m tn Ensure is safe and is used to increase a person's weight by providing extra protein and nutrients. Ensure is recommended for adult with underweight or with illnesses that cause them to lose weight. I see by your height that you are underweight. Your age is not stated so I cannot give you a calorie amount to consume daily. Being underweight, you have to gain weight slowly.
Avatar m tn After your workout go for foods loaded with protein, such as Greek yogurt, fat free milk, egg whites, and peanut butter. The protein helps rebuild muscles.
Avatar f tn I have also begun watching her diet better with limits on processed high carb. foods. Gluten, peanuts, artificial sweeteners, regular milk (use almond milk) (I have also found a local dairy/farm that carries fresh goats milk and cows milk, so we are giving the goats milk a try which is high in protein and tast great with no hormones or preservatives) and sugar are avoided as much as possible (fungal and blood sugar issues with these). Eat REAL food with high protein as much as possible.
Avatar m tn consisting of 8 essential amino acids (protein) which is the same as milk, plus it is gluten free (wheat -free). It is a great protein source for people who do not eat meat and it can be eaten in different methods as I stated above. Suggest gathering some recipes online to help you with additional methods of cooking/eating quinoa. You are taking a medication that has side effects of dizziness and weight gain (cravings).

Avatar n tn Coconut milk is fine. I've been using Hemp Milk (yep, that's right, Hemp Milk) as an alternative because it is dairy, soy and salt free. I couldn't believe that the rice milks all had salt in them! That annoyed me to no end! Anyway, I got Hemp Milk at Whole Foods. It's made by Living Harvest.
Avatar f tn Before changing any child's diet, you really need to consult their pediatrician. This diet thing would probably work for kids who have allergies to wheat and milk. So, get your child allergy tested. I have read that this diet works for some autistic kids, but they have allergies to this stuff. If your child doesn't have allergies to this stuff, you are removing important nutrition from his diet!!! That's what our pediatrician told us.
1291271 tn?1275493372 Simply put, aside from water (which you should already know you need) your post workout meal needs to contain 2 things, and it needs to not contain 1. You should be eating protein and carbs. You should NOT be eating fat. More on the protein and carbs you need a little later. First, let's start with a quick explanation of why you shouldn't eat fat after a workout.
Avatar f tn Only buy organic soy products, avoid the soy based additives in so many foods such as TVP and hydrolyzed protein and soy extract and such -- the more processed any food is, the less healthful it is. Also remember that soy is a common food allergen, so be alert for that possibility. What you need are a few good books on nutrition, since nobody really knows what's best to eat and there are many theories about it.
