2065896 tn?1373685384 I take cortisone nose spray and anti histamine tablets to no avail. I have had allergy tests that have come back negative but food allergy tests have come back with a number of food allergies. Could a food allergy cause a runny nose?
Avatar n tn My 95 year old mother was told she has a milk allergy, specifically a delayed reaction to milk protien. She was given a list of foods that she could not eat and told to read all labels to see if the foods had these ingredents. Just about anything you eat. no bread, butter, cheese, whey, you name it it is on this list. She is in assisted living and made the diatian a list of foods that she could eat.
Avatar m tn One other thing I forgot to mention is you may have a food allergy, which would also explain why your relatives have this, too. A common one that causes diarrhea are milk and milk products, so switching to soy milk or rice milk can help, they're in most grocery stores in a small carton in a special section of the store. Or there are tablets you can take with meals that will counteract milk allergy.
7110266 tn?1392136011 I hate going to the grocery store while pregnant, everything looks so flipping good and I can't just stick to what is on my list. I spend way to much money on nothing. I need a personal shopper!
1099716 tn?1257569824 It sounds to me like you are lactose intolerant and suceptible to the butter fat. Your usual symptoms sound very much like classic symptoms to lactose intolerance. It sounds like you need to become very strict with yourself and totally eliminate dairy from your diet, since you have had a history with it bothering your digestive tract and your sinuses. Totally classic lactose intolerance.

1666434 tn?1325262350 My husband was not affected by this milk at all. Once he has commercial milk, the kind sold in grocery stores, he gets heartburn. I have never liked milk even when I was little it was always just something that made me cringe, so definitely had to find an alternative. I do say that I have stopped giving my boys soy milk and including myself because of the phytoestrogens. I just bought some Flaxseed milk for the first time, so I am going to try that and see what I think.

1900997 tn?1321659956 a couple of hours later, I get ferocious stomach pain and flatulence that smells of milk, quite often also diarrhoea. So I switched to lactose-free milk, but this has not brought about any improvement whatsoever. Skimmed milk is just as bad as full fat, so it can't be the fat content either.
Avatar m tn The baby may show reaction towards breast milk also if the mother is taking dairy products in her diet.Diagnosis of milk allergy can be confirmed after skin ***** or patch tests and food challenge tests.Confirmation can be done with blood tests like RAST.It also helps in differentiating milk allergy from lactose intolerance. You need to consult an allergy specialist for that. Treatment involoves elimination of all dairy products from the diet.
Avatar f tn I've always been allergic (not lactose intolerance) to milk since I was born. Now at 5 weeks all I want to eat is milk and things made from milk. Does this mean my baby isn't allergic to milk? Or my allergy for milk going away since I'm pregnant? Or just being pregnant cravings? I don't want to drink milk thinking I'm not allergic and get sick. Help please?
Avatar f tn For a nine year old, this is complicated. Goat's milk is milk, and though it's easier on the human body than cow's milk, it's still milk, so the question is why milk is being discontinued. A lactose intolerant person might very well still be lactose intolerant to goat's milk, for example, but someone who has digestive problems with cow's milk might not with goat's milk. There's also a taste issue.

230262 tn?1316645934 s another Q for you guys- do you ever lose your grocery list and then end up in a panic in the store trying to remember what was on your list?? or worse yet, you still have your list but your handwriting is so bad you cant read what you wrote and walk around looking like an idiot trying to figure it out??
Avatar f tn you should research foods you can and can not eat during pregnancy. or rather, the suggested food you should and should not eat. there is a long list of things they say to avoid. the main concern is pasteurization. so foods like, honey, brie or soft cheeses, milk. Then there is stuff like avoiding raw egg (so no tasting cookie batter) and cold cuts are to be avoided too. like i said, this is a good topic to research cause i'm sure the list goes on.
Avatar f tn There are various tests designed to test for food allergy. You need to take those tests. Make a complete list of things that cause allergies and avoid them. Avoid buying and consuming things like tinned and processed food that have those ingredients—check all labels before buying. Your symptoms could also be due to IBS. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor or maybe a gastroenterologist. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn -- and my young daughter has developed a sunflower allergy in addition to her wheat allergy, while I have been identifying more and more food allergies of my own ever since I hit 40 years old. Bottom line is that no one has yet figured out how to prevent a rise in the number of food allergens an individual has or may develop.
Avatar f tn my daughter has trouble breathing at night. Really loud and mucus-fulled snoring, pauses in breathing due to build up of mucus between nose and throat. During the day difficulty breathing through her nose so a lot of mouth breathing and wheezing due to mucus. Pediatrician has been treating with nasal spray (for minor nasal tissue swelling), nebulizer with albuterol, and most recently claritin. She had allergy test which revealed allergies to milk, peanuts, soy, wheat, corn, eggs.
Avatar f tn It is very easy to determine milk allergy. I assume its allergy to milk of dairy origin. Try to go off milk and milk products and see if the tightness in your chest disappears. Read all labels of any products you buy in the market—medicines, processed and canned food—anything, carefully to see if they have milk products in them. Now the good news! Every cloud has a silver lining. There are many alternate or non dairy sources of milk like soy milk, rice milk etc.
Avatar f tn Just left the Gastroenterologist. My son has a milk and soy allergy. He's 5 wks old and I'm breastfeeding so now have to stick to a strict Dairy and soy free diet. Are there any websites out there that provide a list if do's and don't's?? And do you mommies who've had to do this yourselves have any pointers?? Thanks so much for reading. Any tips are appreciated!!
Avatar n tn I sent a response a few days ago to you but don't see it posted. I'll try again.....Our twins sons had severe diarhea for a long time. Back when not too much was known about lactose intolerance. We took them to the best gas and intestinal doctors in the New Jersey/New York area. No answers. After researching the reference sections at the local libraries and spending countless hours night after night we came up with the possibilities of lactose intolerance.
Avatar m tn My wife has suffered with a serious garlic allergy for over five years, which now seems to be progressing to cut peppers. Having spoken to quite a number of people about this we have established that this allergy is not as rare as the medical profession seems to believe. We have met a number of people who are effected by garlic to one degree or another. Food manufacturers often to not include it on their list of ingredients.
Avatar m tn Allergies to medications can occur upon exposure or can be a delayed response up to 48 hours after exposure. The symptoms you are describing are not that of an allergy but a side effect that can be experienced when taking these medications.
