Avatar n tn How did you know that I live in Canada? I agree that a private medical system is superior to socialized medicine. The big problem here is not so much the quality of service, which in many areas is excellent, but the incredibly long wait times. Governments just cannot anticipate patient needs like the market can, and even when the government knows about a need, it is usually loathe to invest sufficient money in addressing it.

Over the past 15-20 years they have stifled the development of new medications and instruments and techniques that are available elsewhere in the world.
676912 tn?1332812551 I put up a new journal about "the don't ask don't tell" policy, it's way too OT for the forum IMO, so check it out to leave a comment/opinion.
Avatar f tn So, the assigned health problem is febrile illness and I chose the USA population, which means febrile illness in returning travelers or international travelers and how the USA advises and tries to reduce travel related illness in its population. Hence, I need to find articles related to: 1. epidemiology of the problem 2. interventions + its costs + cultural and ethical issues involved; and by using this, I need to make a 5-year plan for the USA to implement its prevention and management.
Avatar f tn I can't thank you enough for the list of doctors. It's been difficult finding someone of the east coast that specializeds in CSF leaks. Thanks!!
Avatar f tn If you go to my journal page 3 read the journal titled How to Naturally Avoid and Remove Dangerous Arterial Plaque

Avatar m tn My question is, is it wise to bring such a patient to USA considering high medical costs here. I live in USA and make around $40k per year. I cannot afford nursing home and it is almost impossible to work and take care of him at the same time. Back in his native country, we can hire nursing help at affordable rate. This is not possible here in USA. I dont know how much insurance will cover his costs.
Avatar f tn I am glad you are taking the careful approach on this and spoke with the man who actually did the research. So many other's have taken advantage of his study and twisted every word he said. I am glad that you were able to speak with him so that maybe you can help dispel some of the awful things being done with this, as yet unproven treatment. Good for you.

Avatar f tn If ur GERD is related only to ur anxiety, then u need to learn how to relax to try to get rid of as much triggers as possible...certain foods and lifestyle routines may affect ur GERD...so keep a journal to see what ur triggers are. And when u do decide to get off PPI's u do need to step off them slowly a little at a time....PPI's stop acid production, when u stop taking them u body over produces so u again have too much acid and do not feel well....

967168 tn?1477584489 The turmoil in medical insurance in the USA caused by the battles in Washington DC must be making things more difficult, for those business who provide insurance as a benefit too. My first insurance was when I went to work for the Bell System way back when it was The Telephone Company of the USA. It did not have a preexisting condition requirement on its insurance....was a great company, all that's left of it today is AT&T, from which I am retired.
4705307 tn?1447970322 My career was in aerospace our biggest customer was the military, supply and demand. My point is not only are the coffers empty but so are our bunkers. We have reached a point that if we really get into a major conflict, God forbid we will have to pull out the big guns and unleash a nuclear hell. Am I paranoid? I think not. Am I disgruntled because I and so many people are out of work, yes.

148588 tn?1465778809 The Air Force plans to cut aircraft maintenance by one-third, eliminate support for popular military air shows and cut support to more than 30 weapons systems if the mandatory budget cuts set to go into effect March 1 are not stopped or adjusted, military budget documents obtained by USA TODAY show. The Army says the same forced cuts mean they will have to cut funding for counter-IED efforts, intelligence and surveillance aircraft and new soldier equipment.

969031 tn?1247605594 Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) occurs more commonly in women than in men and often affects women of childbearing age. Many of these women wish to have children, yet there are little reported data on the outcomes of pregnancy in patients with POTS. To date there has been one report of two patients with POTS who successfully completed pregnancy. We report the outcomes of 22 women with preexisting POTS who became pregnant.
Avatar f tn I live and work overseas 2-4 years at time and when I'm in the USA I'm always having to travel, so it's hard to stay with one chiropractor during my time there. I have seen several chiropractors and have also had massage therapy overseas. The last time I saw a chiropractor in the USA, he said the x-rays showed the top part of my neck was a "military neck" (too straight) and the bottom part was a little "pinched".
