How did you know that I live in Canada? I agree that a private medical system is superior to socialized medicine. The big problem here is not so much the quality of service, which in many areas is excellent, but the incredibly long wait times. Governments just cannot anticipate patient needs like the market can, and even when the government knows about a need, it is usually loathe to invest sufficient money in addressing it.

So, the assigned health problem is febrile illness and I chose the USA population, which means febrile illness in returning travelers or international travelers and how the USA advises and tries to reduce travel related illness in its population. Hence, I need to find articles related to: 1. epidemiology of the problem 2. interventions + its costs + cultural and ethical issues involved; and by using this, I need to make a 5-year plan for the USA to implement its prevention and management.

My question is, is it wise to bring such a patient to USA considering high medical costs here. I live in USA and make around $40k per year. I cannot afford nursing home and it is almost impossible to work and take care of him at the same time. Back in his native country, we can hire nursing help at affordable rate. This is not possible here in USA. I dont know how much insurance will cover his costs.

I am glad you are taking the careful approach on this and spoke with the man who actually did the research. So many other's have taken advantage of his study and twisted every word he said. I am glad that you were able to speak with him so that maybe you can help dispel some of the awful things being done with this, as yet unproven treatment. Good for you.

I have in the past been given snythroid for low functioning thyroid.(July 2002) Hypothyroidism runs in my family. I was 35 and having all sorts symptoms related to hypothyroidism and undoubtedly, I could not get pregnant for 8 months.(Jan 2002-July 2002) I was put on 25MCG of Synthroid in July and by September I was pregnant. I stayed on this medication until I moved out of state.

If ur GERD is related only to ur anxiety, then u need to learn how to relax to try to get rid of as much triggers as possible...certain foods and lifestyle routines may affect ur GERD...so keep a journal to see what ur triggers are. And when u do decide to get off PPI's u do need to step off them slowly a little at a time....PPI's stop acid production, when u stop taking them u body over produces so u again have too much acid and do not feel well....

For new members, I had panic attacks a number of years ago and did therapy, xanax and finally zoloft, then got better for about 8 yrs. then had a number of life changes (see my open journal entries if interested) anyway panic came back and after allot of SELF WORK and finally therapy (thanks military, taking so long to get me in) HA HA...

I live and work overseas 2-4 years at time and when I'm in the USA I'm always having to travel, so it's hard to stay with one chiropractor during my time there. Canadian Military (AIR FORCE)- just posted to a new city in June, having trouble adjusting and making a life for myself here. Hubby will be away alot for the next two years, gonna have to deal with it, but not sure how.
