Avatar n tn I had a head injury as a rsult of a car coming around a blind corner. I was unconscious for about a day and have long term problems with memory, dizziness and energy. What I have found really helps my dizziness is homeopathic remedies. Cranio-sacral therapy (which is also recommended for babies after the trauma of birth) and for my lack of energy and breathlessness acupuncture helps. Bio-energy therapy also helped get rid of my frustration and anger!
Avatar f tn I received all of these from sports and have since pulled myself from such dangerous situations but I fear I am still dealing with the after effects of my reckless youth. After my last concussion I had extremely bad vertigo, memory loss, and headaches. They got so bad I had to get a Cat Scan because they thought my brain might be bleeding, thank god it was negative. Well I recently got in a car accident and have no clue if I did hit my head or not.
Avatar n tn She then attempted to vomit unsuccesfully many times before fading in and out of concsiousness. Is that concussion or is it more serious??
Avatar m tn About 5 months ago I slipped on ice and hit my head on pavement (front right temple). I had what I think may be considered as a mild concussion (loss of consciousness for 1 minute followed by heavy disorientation (amnesia?) for 7 minutes) At that time I was very drunk and I am thinking this played a large role on why I even lost consciousness. (I am only an occasional drinker though) I am a very healthy 28 y/o male.
Avatar m tn To cut to the chase, just because you or your child has a concussion does not mean you are going to die. There are always exceptions, but usually a mild concussion will resolve by itself with no long lasting effects.
Avatar f tn Had a concussion several weeks ago with instant headache & nausea which have gotten worse. Already had 2 CT scans without contrast, showing they were normal. The headaches and nausea are pretty bad daily, have gotten worse since the concussion. I'm now scheduled for an MRI scan, should I do it with or without contrast. Have read so many negative things about getting it with the contrast.
Avatar m tn m, of course, panicky because of the possibility of a mild concussion and its possible side effects, along with th ehelp of alcohol and poor sleep the first days of the injury -while I should be taking care to rest and all. I feel just a weight sensation and mild pain that comes and goes around the vicinity of the impact, maybe a bit of pain on the opposite side sometimes, but I don't even need acetaminophen. The impact was on the upper-back let side of the head. Could I have a problem?
Avatar m tn dont be too scared as said above few people experience sides but one thing is for sure long term use for decades is not healthy and only cirrhosis or severe damaged liver can justify such use so i'd definitely combo with other therapies so that nucs can be used short term from latest easl conference we have now tests for sustained immune control of hbv cccdna equal or less than 5 copies/cell we now need an hbsag level equal to 5copies/cell, mybe hbsag 500iu/ml
Avatar n tn As of now there are no scientific studies that indicate SSRI medication as having any long term adverse effects on health. (There could be problems, but nothing is proven) If you wish to get off Paxil there are a couple very key things you must understand first: (1.) Even with a very slow tapering of the medication, you will get several week or even months of withdrawl symptoms. These symptoms can vary between mild to very severe. (2.

Avatar f tn BUT, I have to take it or I am in pain. So try not to worry so much about the long term effects when you are trying to survive today. If you are worried about this I would talk to my doctor and let them know what you are experiencing and there may be something they can do differently. Just dont stop any seizure med without a doctors help. Hope you feel better..
Avatar m tn I have no symptoms and feel great; I am 54 and wondering if HEP C would kill me or if the treatment could cause long term effects that could ruin my health. The longest living male in my family was my father 86 and had slow progressive dementia the last 10 years.
Avatar f tn I suffered a concussion 4 months ago when I fell during a parade with my high school band. My mom took me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a concussion. I had a CT scan and nothing was out of the ordinary, and it seemed to just be a mild concussion. 4 months later, I'm still having issues. I'm a junior in high school and concentration and memory issues made me switch out of all of my honors classes into regular ones and drop both math and science completely.
Avatar f tn ve read in alot of articles that infants and children up to five years of age can suffer long term affects from even a mild closed injury. Im just asking for your opinion based on your experience, a medical review of my brain by a neurologist should tell me whats really going on. (One little question I forgot to ask, do you guys believe in the "Kennard Principle"? Sorry for the long read.
Avatar n tn Four days ago I hit the right side of my forehead, frontal lobe on corner of hard wood door. It swelled up immediately and iced it for two or so hours then went to bed. Day three I started bruising around outside of my eye and became tired and confused a little. My dr. Tested me and said it was mild concussion and to take it easy. Does anyone know what signs I can look for if I'm to be getting better. I'm still tired, irritable and restless.

Avatar f tn Hello, I'm trying to figure out what happened after a series of concussions I suffered over the summer (late July). Since none of my symptoms seem to line up with anything, it would be great if you could help. Over the summer I had two concussions one day apart for each other. The first was a blow to the front of my head and I was unconscious for 3 1/2 hours. The second was a blow to the back of my head, were I was dizzy immediately afterwards (then it went away).
Avatar f tn My Endo says I will need surgery eventually due to unknown long term sides effects of using PTU (we both ruled out RAI due to eye issues that I have) . However, it seems that surgery is such a drastic step for treating something that is so well-controlled on such a low dose of meds. We are even trying to go as low as 1/4 pill every other day.
Avatar n tn The brain needs to pay attention to something, hold it in short term memory, link it to meaningful past experiences and then store it in long term memory to lay down a memory. When a sudden event like an accident or a punch to the head occurs this interrupts the ability of the brain to do this, so there are no memories of what happened to result in loss of consciousness.
