Common Questions and Answers about Mild concussion and headaches

concussion

Avatar f tn At times a subdural hematoma develops slowly and may be missed on the first MRI. Also concussion can cause persisting headaches and should be allowed to slowly subside before active sports are considered. Injury to neck, to jaw bone, and even eyes should be considered. Get his eye sight also checked. May be the headaches are because he needs spectacles. -Take care!
Avatar f tn post concussion syndrome is a complex disorder with a combination of symptoms like headaches and dizziness lasting for a few weeks and at times months after the injury that caused by concussion. Concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury usually occurring after a blow to the head. Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months.
Avatar f tn I went to an urgent care facility and was sent for catscan at ER. ER Doctor found no issues in catscan and diagnosed it as concussion. THe headaches continued and 2 months later, it was diagnosed to be traumatic post-concussion syndrome) Being an engineer/computer architect , my work requires mental concentration and detailed analysis. SInce the accident occured in late FEbruary , I have had to work from home part-time where I can keep my environment very low stimulus.
Avatar f tn Hi I’m 15 and I have been getting headaches almost every day for the past year and a half. The headache is usually on the left side. It’s kind of dull and achy but I also get random shock like pain, on top of my head ache. My leg goes numb sometimes and recently some of my back started going numb.(right leg, lower right back) If anyone else has these symptoms or any advice please let me know.
Avatar f tn If MRI picks up anything it may be fixed at early stage (like CSF leaks, minute bleeding etc.,). I personally know some one who CSF leak after they had a mild concussion and suffered. Finally she went to John Hopkins where they fixed and she is doing excellent now. As rumpled suggests go to doctor as soon as you can. good luck.
Avatar n tn If it continues to hurt and swells, you will have to see a doctor, especially with the headaches, you could have a very mild concussion. Some allergies can cause headaches, true, but, not the swelling.
Avatar n tn There could be inflammation of the brain tissue causing headache and nausea.Common symptoms of mild brain injury may include headache and the sensation of spinning or light-headedness. Some people also may have mild confusion, nausea, and, more commonly in children, vomiting. Refer http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec06/ch087/ch087a.
Avatar n tn Four days ago I hit the right side of my forehead, frontal lobe on corner of hard wood door. It swelled up immediately and iced it for two or so hours then went to bed. Day three I started bruising around outside of my eye and became tired and confused a little. My dr. Tested me and said it was mild concussion and to take it easy. Does anyone know what signs I can look for if I'm to be getting better. I'm still tired, irritable and restless.
Avatar f tn Initially they said no sports for 3 days but a week later he would come home from baseball crying about a headache and vomiting. I took him back and they said the initial diagnosis (in the ER) of a mild concussion was wrong and that it was more severe. He had to stop sports for two weeks. My symptoms after the accident lasted over two weeks. I had severe headaches and I felt "off." I had some trouble word finding, couldn't keep my train of thought, etc.
Avatar f tn I have a mild headache with sudden pain in various parts of my head, my stomach is upset and I am exhausted. I was told it was a mild concussion and symptoms could last for weeks, months. Although I never had a seizure I was put on preventative seizure meds. The bottom line is the brain is extremely fragile and complex. No one knows how long it will take for your's to heal. But, rest and I mean a lot of rest, will help immensely.
Avatar f tn I have been sitting and talking with him when it seems as though severe fatigue washes over him, and immediately the headaches begin. He will be down and out for about three days when they hit him. He has already missed 16 days of school this year due to the headaches. He had a CAT Scan and MRI which all seem normal. The pediatric neurologist gave him Amitriptoline, which makes his headaches worse. The Neurologist does not believe this.
Avatar n tn My daughter is 16 and has headaches 3-4 times per week. We've had her tested for allergies, eyes tested, no real issues. The doctor doesn't seem to think there's a tumor, mentioned the possibility of a pituitary tumor, but not certain. She usually gets them mid day, and is trying not to use OTC drugs, and when she does they don't always work. She is able to function, but it is tiring.
Avatar m tn Three weeks ago I had fell backwards and hit head on pavement on ice,, my question is I ams tillhaving headaches,, confusion,, pressurein head and sometimes irriabilty,,Is this normal to have this 3 weeks after the fall.I am waitin now for an appointment with the neurologist was wondering also what does he do and will do?
471949 tn?1236904026 I was in a car accident about a month ago and had a mild concussion along with injury to my C2-C5. I've had horrible headaches every since the accident. Just yesterday it was so bad that I actually blacked out (hit the floor). I'm dizzy quite often, have ringing in my ears also. I'm being treated by a chiropractor for my neck injury. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn It is possible to have whip lash and not have neck pain....as headaches and even shoulder and back pains can also be the symptoms. It is something you may want to rule out..... Good luck at the Dr appointment.
Avatar f tn My depression is due to the reason I cannot go out and do things as I used to do because of headaches, dizziness, fatigue and lost my smell and taste because of the head injury, has non-stop tinnitus etc., I struggle with suicidal thoughts too and I tried anit-depressants but made things worse since my underlying cause was not resolved. But yours may be a different reason since you already had those thoughts and concussion aggravated it. But you can get help.
Avatar n tn He, I’m 16 years old and at the moment I get a lot of headaches. Most of the time the pain is in my forehead and stings. Sometimes there's this pressure to on the sides of my head. I really want to get rid of it because next year will be my exam year. I’m afraid it's going to be a big problem if I'm still stuck with those headaches! I don’t have a very stressful life or something, and I don’t listen hard music or scream a lot.
Avatar m tn my name is gaurav and iam 16 years old about a month ago I,met an bike accident and i got mild head injury on my head had vomiting and was unable to remember what happened just before and after my accident then next day when i woke up my vision was blurred and there was ringing in my ears and i was unable to watch television and was sensitive to light and loud noise I thought that it was due to my head and kept on fighting with my symptoms watched television gone to school for about 10 days the
Avatar m tn About 5 months ago I slipped on ice and hit my head on pavement (front right temple). I had what I think may be considered as a mild concussion (loss of consciousness for 1 minute followed by heavy disorientation (amnesia?) for 7 minutes) At that time I was very drunk and I am thinking this played a large role on why I even lost consciousness. (I am only an occasional drinker though) I am a very healthy 28 y/o male.
Avatar n tn Dear Drs, I was in a bad car accident in 1988 and had head trama, bleeding on the brain and a broken neck, C7. In the last 3 years I have been getting sevre headaches and they stem from the base of my skull. I have tried over the counter pain meds and chiropratic but nothing works. The headaches have gotten a lot more sevre in the last month. I went to my family Dr and he ordered a CT scan and a MRI.
Avatar m tn They did a CT scan because he had a seizure. - Fortunately, it was just a mild concussion and let him go home. But we were watching him for at least a week. Just be careful and have Mom and Dad check on you in the morning. - Hope you are okay..

Avatar f tn I am curious to learn more about post concussion syndrome. In the past 4-5 years I have had 4 or 5 "mild" concussions and am starting to get worried. I received all of these from sports and have since pulled myself from such dangerous situations but I fear I am still dealing with the after effects of my reckless youth. After my last concussion I had extremely bad vertigo, memory loss, and headaches.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have recently been suffering from sudden onset, explosive and very much debilitating headaches when ever I raise my blood pressure through excersise etc. I have had a CT scan and Lumbar Puncture in order to eliminate the possibility of an anurism. The results of the CT showed everything was clear and am awaiting the results of the LP but have been told its most likely a stress related migraine.
Avatar f tn A month ago I was in a bad car accident. My car flipped and I hit my head going unconscious. So obviously I had a concussion. I'm healing and have been trying to decide which exercise would be the best? I've belonged to a gym since Oct. but am just concerned to start exercising again. My dr says I need to treat myself as if I have a concussion for at least a year, or while symptoms last. I get headaches, dizziness, sometimes very mild forgetfulness.
Avatar f tn These symptoms, which include brain fog, right side weakness, muscle spasms, horrible memory problems, and headaches basically all started following a mild head injury. I did have fatigue issues before this. Has anyone else has symptoms come on after a concussion? I'm just worried about misdiagnosis here.
