middle finger pain joint

m a house painter and recently brought my hand down onto the sharp point of one of my painting tools. It cut into the side if my rt hand middle finger, middle joint (between the knuckle and the lower joint) It bled a bit and swelled up of course. That was over two weeks ago. I still have noticable swelling in that joint, especially on the rt side, and considerable pain. The rest of my hand hurts lately, probably from compensating for the lack of use of the middle finger. Any ideas?

any amount of swelling in a small joint such as a finger joint can cause quite a bit of discomfort. It sounds like you "jammed" the joint(s). It can take a long time to resolve. Like 6-9 months. You could try soaking it in hot water to loosen things up and try to pull and put tension on the finger to loosen up the joint. Pull the finger slowly, steadily, and gently straight out. I have found this can help loosen it up and relieve some pressure in the joint.

ok first things first. The knuckle above my right middle finger is swollen. This is due to me constantly hitting hard surfaces. i have no pain in that particular finger or knuckle or any part of the hand but i cant fully raise my right ring finger. It gets to about half way and i cannot raise it anymore unless i force it up with my other hand. Apart from that i have full use of my right hand and no pain in or around the knuckle or finger. Any ideas whats wrong??

I have severe pain on the joint of middle finger and slight swelling on the back of hand. Also neck, entire body pain mostly early morning.

Followed up with family doctor in a week, another xray, he said yes cracked around middle joint (side of the middle joint that faces towards middle finger). However the next day he phoned and said no its not broken. About a month later went to physiotherapy which included ultrasound treatment and compressions stocking. This lasted about three to four months. In Spring of this year I had no improvement.

i have noticed a lump in the middle of my middle finger, its sore and moves from side to side, then a day or two later i noticed another a bit higher up, just as painful, can u help?

I have this problem, burning pain between index finger and 2nd finger. I cannot clench my fist unless I straighten index finger then I can make fist with the other three. I have never heard of this before, so if you have no answer I will have to goto.

The other thing I noticed that pointer and middle finger were swollen a bit and I think they still are bit bigger (fingertip area) than same ones on other hand. The sensitiveness comes and goes by the day. Also found a tiny red dot on middle finger, under that I can feel tiny lump which isn't painful. Bend and extend the finger at the joint slowly to a range of motion possible without pain. Slowly increase the range of motion. With time the stiffness will go. You can also consult a sports injury center. Other possibilities are arthritis-rheumatoid, injury, inflammation of the sac of joint, finger prick, insect bite, allergy or contact dermatitis to something, tendon injury or inflammation, clot in blood vessel, infection of the skin or pulp of the finger etc.

Around 6 months ago, my left middle finger’s middle joint and bottom joint around the knuckle areas got painful, particularly in the morning. When I tried to flex my middle finger, I can feel the joint is bouncing back and fore like a toggle switch. The exact location of the injury would be the middle pinkie joint that is right along side the ring finger. This happened two months ago, I haven't been to the hospital yet because this is a common injury in the trade. There has not been any injury, no blisters, skin breakage,tingling or discoloration. The burning seems to be closer to the middle joint and more tender if I put any pressure on the joint. I had surgery many years ago for carpal tunnel but this doesnt feel anything like that. It is in only one finger and always on the side. I have tried using an anti imflamatory cream with no relief. I am not sure whether seeing my primary care physician is the appropriate step to take or not.

Hi all, i have had aching cramp type pain in my left and right hands for 5 weeks now, after 2 weeks the middle joint in my 3rd finger left hand felt like it had something in it, tight for a bit when i get up in the morning lasts about 5 minutes or so still have full movement can feel slight tenderness when i press on it. or i feel tension on it if i make a fist, no visible swelling and dosent look red or anything.

i was running then i tripped.. i tripped and my right middle finger got bended a bit in the joint next to the knuckles. it was dec. last year. i had it x-rayed and there was no fracture or dislocation. so i didnt do with it. but i can feel the bone that is kinda tilted to where it was bent. it hurts when it apply pressure to the sides and whenever i try apply pressure on the joint making the act of the opposite of bending.

In the mean time you can splint the finger to keep the pain to a minimum. I bought those elastic finger sleeves in the first-aid section of the pharmacy, and slid a popsicle stick underneath it to hold the finger straight.

I am having some knuckle pain on my right hand on my middle finger, however i do not remember hurting my hand at all, there is no swelling and i can keep it in the straight position however when i bend it the pain comes. any suggestions?

Sometimes I have it for a few days and other times a few hours. The pain gets worse and shoots from the forearm to the middle of the upper arm and down to the pinky finger. Could this be carpal tunnel?
