micardis

Avatar f tn I have been taking Atenolol 25 mg twice daily and Micardis 20 mg once daily. It's my fertile time. We had a mishap with a condom last night and I am concerned that I could become pregnant. Is the medication a concern, or should I contact my doctor?
Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with Stage 1 Diastolic Dysfunction which they tell me was brought on by uncontrolled hypertension. I thought my hypertension was well controlled with Micardis (40 mg.) but apparently, on mild exertion, my blood pressure can go as high as 160/90. I go to physical therapy for lower back pain. This involves some mild cardiovascular exercise (walking in warm chest-high water.) I am wondering how safe it is for me to continue doing the mild exercise.
548642 tn?1266179652 I take xanax as well, it helps me thru difficult times. My belief is that all opiates are bad, but not for everyone and not all the time. I would say if you've had a previous addiction to opiates in any form, then you may need to proceed with caution. Opiates are known to replicate the virus. You really need to talk this over with your doctor. Unfortunately I was exposed to a litany of drugs as a youth 1968-69.

Avatar m tn I am currently on MiCardis and Atenolol. Have responded well to them for over two years. Last few days have experienced increased BP according to my monitor but I'll check three times in a row and the readings will differ significantly (Ex: yesterday, 151/110 then 146/109 and finally 137/93) This has been happening the past four days. So my questions are: Should I seek to change medications? Change dosages? Or could there be other causes that are temporary that might 'go away'?
Avatar m tn Hi, I was diagnosed with primary hypertension a year ago and since then have been on Lisinopril hctz and have recently changed to Micardis 20 mg. Now my BP is not normally high on a daily basis but it raises after drinking alcohol. Now my question is if my BP is high the next day after alcohol even with my meds does that mean my med is not working and I should change or is it normal for alcohol to raise BP and meds not to come into effect?
Avatar n tn There are several things you can do. First, find out what your current aortic size is. You can do this by visiting a cardiologist at a large university hospital who is knowledgeable about aortic disease and having a CT scan or MRI of the *entire* aorta. This will identify any aneurysms on the aorta, from start to end. You should have regular imaging done on any bulges identified.
Avatar m tn Do you have a fever? A rapid heart rate over 100 at rest is a medically significant symptom and could be an indication of serious cardiovascular condition. There could be blocked arteries in your legs, called peripheral artery disease that may be causing your leg pain. “If you can walk through the pain and it gets better as you go, it’s rheumatoid arthritis,” says Michael R.
Avatar f tn I did speak to my doctor and my medication has been changed to one that is less strong I am taking Micardis 4mg. You are right my water intake could be better I am making it a priority to have a bottle of water with me all the time.

Avatar m tn It can lower your blood pressure and may increase some of the side effects of Micardis. Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes while you are taking Micardis, unless your doctor has told you to. You are very young and have the rest of your life to enjoy a drink with friends. Getting drunk is not good for your heart or indeed for the rest of your body. This is an important decision you need to make right now. Look after your body for now or suffer more serious consequences.
Avatar f tn She is already taking 2 blood pressure medications to control blood pressure, micardis and nifedipine xl. Do you think her increased bp is due to her coming off of plavix? She does have a pace maker and stints.

Avatar f tn Greetings doctor I am actually doing a research paper on HIV for school and with so much info online from one end of the spectrum to the other I figure I would ask a specialist directly a few questions so here it goes... 1-with testing now a days would you consider 6-8 weeks conclusive? 2-do you believe rapid tests are just as reliable as lab based? 3-do you feel oral rapid tests are just as good as blood? 4-what are the most common symptoms you see with onset of HIV?
1225178 tn?1318980604 I know somebody posted where to go to find out about the research that is going on, and what clinical trials we may be able to get into... but my brain isn't working today and I can't find the post. Somebody please give me that web site. I'd really appreciate it.
467579 tn?1289402969 Gene therapy has potential, not to recreate lung tissue but to reduce the airway inflammation that results in emphysema, be it smoking-induced or other. Research is underway on gene therapy but the results thus far have been very disappointing. The adaptation to chronic residence at high altitude has been studied extensively. You are correct in stating that bigger lungs have nothing to do with it and that has been well known for nearly 100 years.

Avatar m tn Hi, i wanna ask a question related to heart disease. My father (54 yo) has been diagnosed before with heart enlargement in around 2015. His blood pressure, cholesterol level and uric acid level were quite high at that time ( i don't know exactly how high was it). Then he came to see the doctor and the doctor gave him medications (one of it called 'micardis'). After since, my father blood pressure and cholesterol level turned normal but the uric acid is still a bit higher than normal.
Avatar f tn I was given Carvedilol, Micardis, and Spironocatone what my cardiologist is attempting to do is to slow my heart rate down but meds for slowing down my heart rate also lowers my already low normal blood pressure and then dizziness occurs. My PCP, my OB/GYN and my Opthalmologist are all alarmed but my cardiologist is not, so I guess I have to look for another cardiologist. Thanks for you help.
1251922 tn?1269981784 I'm a small-sized 72-year old female. I have been on Micardis 20mg for 2 1/2 months. for the 1st 3-4 week it elevated my BP instead of lowering it. Fortunately, in the 5th week I saw the results (mean day reading:115/75). And the morning surges were gone! But in 2 weeks,i experienced a sudden spike of 148/89. It took a couple of days to return to normal. However, in another 2 weeks there was another spike. And another couple of days to return to normal. Please explain why this happened.
