m 43 and my pressure generally ran around 185 over 120 (range). My doctor put me on a medicine called Micardis HCT which is a combination medication with the common diuretic hydrochlorothiazide and the drug telmisartan.
This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself. I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75.
I was wondering if anyone could help....for the past year I have rapidly been gaining weight. I've gained a total of 85 pounds. Ive cut my calories back to the lowest amount possible for me which is 1400 a day and walking 2-3 miles every other day. And not losing a single pound I consistently gain12-15 pounds monthly. Just this past March I was diagnosed with SVT and now on medication for it.

ve been using anti-hypertensives for ten years now starting with Lotensen and then switching to Diovan HCT then to hydroclorothyazide for a year or two then back to Diovan HCT. I am about 20 kgs overweight. I walk every day and when in a good routine 8 kms a day, up and down hills through fields etc.
During this period of time I increased my intake of fish and fish oil and started taking Red Yeast Rice (w/ co-q-10) twice a day. Also during this time my BP med was doubled and HCT was added. I know that HCT can raise cholesterol levels, but usually only at higher doses than I take (12.5 mg per day), and then only on average by 11%.
My diet and weight did not change during the five months between blood work.
My 16 year old, 11 pound dachshund has ALKP 810, ALT 440, Retics 1.1, HCT 60.2, WBC 3.70, RBC 10.51...which does show early liver disease. She has had bloody diarrhea, possibly from 1/2 2X daily SAMe 225??? It has improved by not giving it to her...I changed her from Fromm Weight Management food to Royal Canin Hepatic; my vet gave her a shot of diathal and put her on endosorb, and the diarrhea is better. I think the dose of SAMe is too high??
My obgyn had me do a blood test last week because there was a possible concern for thyroid or diabetes. I had my son 12/2/14 and weighed 185. I have continued to gain weight and now weigh 214. I was active during my pregnancy and maintained a healthy diet. I now am still active and maintain a healthy diet but cannot loose weight. I am Prozac and have an IUD but that my obgyn doesn't think that those are a contributor to the weight gain.

However, I have trouble sleeping, dry skin/hair, loosing hair, early menopause, fuzzy thinking, headaches(migraines), fatigue, increased difficulty losing weight, muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches(on meds for arthritis), irritability etc. All seem to be symptome of hypothyroidism, yet my endo will not even try a low dose synthroid. I am taking Diovan HCT and the few things I have read, say it can skew the results. I am at my wits end in trying to feel better.
Well I'm 7 months that means I'm 27 weeks and I have only gain 1 pound my midwife said it was OK 4 me to not gain weight bcz I'm over weight so u girls tell me it seems like I won't have to do a lot of weight loss. How far are u nd how much you gain?

Aww don't worry. In my experience, weight gain tends to stall at the end.
1. Splenic contarctions under duress can affect HCT count
2. Dehaydration can also be a cause, though vet said potassium levels were normal, in fact they were super high-normal, one more point and they would be high on the reference range
2. Dipstick analysis prone to false positives, therefore questioning accuracy of +++ on protein
My questions:
1) Blood was drawn at 6pm, did not leave for the lab until after 9am the following morning. Could suspect handling/storage impact HCT readings?
