Avatar n tn m 43 and my pressure generally ran around 185 over 120 (range). My doctor put me on a medicine called Micardis HCT which is a combination medication with the common diuretic hydrochlorothiazide and the drug telmisartan. This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself. I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75.
369861 tn?1306275686 I had been on HCT 25 mgand Diovan Hct 320/25 mg for about 2-3 years. My primary doctor took me off the HCT. I had an appointment with my endocrinologist prior to this. I advise the dr what took place with the ER and my primary. The endo doctor then took me off the Diovan HCT and started me on Diovan so that i could take a renin and aldesterone tests. Does the potassium have anything to do with the thyroid and why did the endo take me off all diuretics to take the two tests.
369861 tn?1306275686 The emergency room took me off the HCT due to my potassium level being so low and the endo dr. took me off the diovan hct and just gave me a prescip for diovan without the diuretic. I am miserable as heck. I'm wheezing, cant sleep and I have to wait at least one more week to take the renin and aldersterone test. Please tell me there is hope for me.
95361 tn?1219870284 I drank some water and took a scheduled potassium supplement a bit early (10meq), but the palps continued for over an hour. I finally went to bed and when I woke up during the night they were still there, but gone in the morning. I have recently changed from Metformin 100 mg x 2, to Coreg 25 mf x 2, and I also take Adalat 60mg, Lisinopril 20 mg and Micardis 80mg. I take Metformin 850 x 3, Januvia 100mg (only for about the last two weeks) and just started on Avandia 4 mg for diabetes.
Avatar m tn 1. Splenic contarctions under duress can affect HCT count 2. Dehaydration can also be a cause, though vet said potassium levels were normal, in fact they were super high-normal, one more point and they would be high on the reference range 2. Dipstick analysis prone to false positives, therefore questioning accuracy of +++ on protein My questions: 1) Blood was drawn at 6pm, did not leave for the lab until after 9am the following morning. Could suspect handling/storage impact HCT readings?
1356964 tn?1302087435 Her vet suggested Epogen injections but also said she was not at a crucial stage (HCT is 26.7) but will probably get there fairly soon. I asked about iron supplementation but was told it probably would not help as the problem is with the kidneys not being able to release hormones. Does anyone have any knowledge on cats with Anemia and interpreting bloodwork ? These are my concerns: RBC 5.19, normal low at this point, normal range 5.00-10.00 HCT 26.7, low, normal range 30.0-50.0 HGB 11.
1260907 tn?1269748318 I have gained a lot of body fat, I am currently on Micardis HCT for BP, Lortab for back pain post surgery, Lexapro, and of course the ambien to help me get to sleep. Dont get me wrong I couldnt stay up at night but I worked 3rd shift for 3 years till 10 months ago so night time is hard for me to fall asleep, when I do sleep it is not good sleep so I assume that is why I wanna sleep all the time. Just in general what is the chances of me having an underactive thyroid?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Atenolol 25 mg twice daily and Micardis 20 mg once daily. It's my fertile time. We had a mishap with a condom last night and I am concerned that I could become pregnant. Is the medication a concern, or should I contact my doctor?
Avatar m tn Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes while you are taking Micardis, unless your doctor has told you to. You are very young and have the rest of your life to enjoy a drink with friends. Getting drunk is not good for your heart or indeed for the rest of your body. This is an important decision you need to make right now. Look after your body for now or suffer more serious consequences. This is not meant to scare you just to say it like it is.

369861 tn?1306275686 This all started with my potassium being low and being hypoglycemic. The endo doctor took me off all diuretics so that i could take the renin and aldesterone tests. Does the potassium have anything to do with the thyroid and why did the endo take me off all diuretics to take the two tests. Doesn't he realise that my body would retaing the water and the result of edema? Just wondering?

Avatar m tn I am currently on MiCardis and Atenolol. Have responded well to them for over two years. Last few days have experienced increased BP according to my monitor but I'll check three times in a row and the readings will differ significantly (Ex: yesterday, 151/110 then 146/109 and finally 137/93) This has been happening the past four days. So my questions are: Should I seek to change medications? Change dosages? Or could there be other causes that are temporary that might 'go away'?
Avatar f tn Hgb, Hct, MCV, MCH, my postassium, my albumin, AST. The following are high: RDW, Monocyte, and D-Dimer. what concerns me is that just a year previous my panel was very different. My blood pressure is rising steadily and no diuretics are working. The only relief I've had is in the Emergency Room the hospital gave me a lasix iv and that immediately caused me to lose 9 pounds of water. I felt hopeful.
