Common Questions and Answers about Micardis hct and cancer

micardis

Avatar n tn m 43 and my pressure generally ran around 185 over 120 (range). My doctor put me on a medicine called Micardis HCT which is a combination medication with the common diuretic hydrochlorothiazide and the drug telmisartan. This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself. I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75.
Avatar m tn 5) How common is renal cancer and what do you think the chances are that the HCT is elevated by an increased EPO resulting from renal or other cancer? 6) Do you think there is a correlation between low glucose and HIgh HCT? Can the excessive RBCs be cannibalizing any circulating glucose? Very concerned and worried. Any guidance?
Avatar n tn I am a 46 yr white female who had blood test levels that were slightly low in RBC and HCT. I had the labs repeated again 6 mths later and not only are the RBC and HCT low, now the CA is low. The levels are as follows (RBC 3.71, HCT 34.7 and CA 8.4). Should I be concerned and have my primary care physician refer me to an oncologist for cancer?
1260907 tn?1269748318 I have gained a lot of body fat, I am currently on Micardis HCT for BP, Lortab for back pain post surgery, Lexapro, and of course the ambien to help me get to sleep. Dont get me wrong I couldnt stay up at night but I worked 3rd shift for 3 years till 10 months ago so night time is hard for me to fall asleep, when I do sleep it is not good sleep so I assume that is why I wanna sleep all the time. Just in general what is the chances of me having an underactive thyroid?
Avatar f tn ve developed seizures, had a blood transfusion and lost 20 pounds without trying. O had the transfusion cause my hgb was 5? And hct was 15? After the transfusion it brought my hgb to 11.2. But then it started to drop again. Since then I've had to follow up with a hematologist. He did a blood test. Wbc 3.0 L Rbc 3.83 L Hgb 9.1 L Hct 27.9 L Mch 25.3 L Rdw 15.5 H Anc 1.
Avatar f tn It should not be used during pregnancy unless your doctor tells you to do so. Micardis is pregnancy category C (during first trimester) and D (during 2nd and 3rd trimester) and it enters breast milk. It should not be used during pregnancy unless your doctor tells you to do so. I recommend you talk to your doctor about your situation before making any changes.
Avatar m tn My husband who is 61 had a mild heart attack in 2007. He also has controlled asthma -- hardly ever uses inhalers or other meds for it. Has diabetes 2 controlled by metformin and glipizide. He's on Plavix, Toprol, ramipril and lipitor for heart maintenance. He also takes niacin. For the last three years, ever since his heart attack, he has had blood work done every three months. It always comes back the same. His HGB ranges from 18 -- 19, his HCT from 53% to 58%, his RBC 6.3 to 6.5.
Avatar f tn HGB 10.5; HCT 30.4; MCV 56; RDW-SD 32.9; RDW-CV 16.6 The HCT and MVC are very low. What can possibly be the cause? Can this be caused by formaldehyde poisoning? Thank you very much!
15993089 tn?1444575391 BTW, I should disclose I am a Clinical Coding Specialist (CPC) and have recently started coding for a neurology/neurosurgical practice and spend my day coding radiology charges and op notes of breast cancer patient with brain and bone mets. I'm trying hard not to be a hypochondriac and I know a little knowledge can be dangerous. I don't want to beome the breast cancer survivor who cried wolf...............
Avatar f tn My husbands grandmother had non-hodgkins. Now my husbands lab values are abnormal. Wbc, Rbc, Hct, hgb, rdw, neut, lymph, mono, baso#'s are high. Just really concerned. Referring us to a hemotologist. what do you think.
Avatar m tn It can lower your blood pressure and may increase some of the side effects of Micardis. Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes while you are taking Micardis, unless your doctor has told you to. You are very young and have the rest of your life to enjoy a drink with friends. Getting drunk is not good for your heart or indeed for the rest of your body. This is an important decision you need to make right now. Look after your body for now or suffer more serious consequences.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with tachycardia 5 years ago but here recently I have been having chest pain when sitting and paps that last longer. One episode with paps was so bad that I had to struggle to catch my breath. Is this just part of it?

787406 tn?1339203183 Your low RBC, hemaglobin and HCT are due to the anemia. The high MCH is due to the B12 def and anemia. The anion gap is used to measure the concentration of cations (sodium and potassium) and the anions (chloride and CO2) in the extracellular fluid of the blood. A low level may indicate metabolic alkalosis due to the overproduction of alkaloid (a state of acidosis is in effect). - I have no idea what that means. Low BUN can mean liver disease or anorexia for several days.
Avatar n tn RBC 4.11, HCT 36.7 - these are the items that according to data available on the net are below norm. HGB is also fairly low - 12.3. (I'm from a non-English-speaking country, but I hope those symbols are universal). However, iron is OK - 110. The rest of the parameters are OK. From what I read it may mean that I have anaemia related to low level of B12 vitamin and/or folic acid (megaloblastic anaemia).
Avatar m tn BUT if you had cirrhosis, you are at increased risk of developing liver cancer (HepatoCellular Carcinoma, commonly known as HCC) and will need to have ongoing surveillance for liver cancer. Like screenings for breast cancer surveillance is done of people with an increased risk of cancer so the cancer can be detected in its early stage when it is most treatable and people can have the best outcomes. So it is VERY IMPORTANT to learn from your doctor if you were suspected of having cirrhosis.
Avatar m tn During this period of time I increased my intake of fish and fish oil and started taking Red Yeast Rice (w/ co-q-10) twice a day. Also during this time my BP med was doubled and HCT was added. I know that HCT can raise cholesterol levels, but usually only at higher doses than I take (12.5 mg per day), and then only on average by 11%. My diet and weight did not change during the five months between blood work.
Avatar m tn I am currently on MiCardis and Atenolol. Have responded well to them for over two years. Last few days have experienced increased BP according to my monitor but I'll check three times in a row and the readings will differ significantly (Ex: yesterday, 151/110 then 146/109 and finally 137/93) This has been happening the past four days. So my questions are: Should I seek to change medications? Change dosages? Or could there be other causes that are temporary that might 'go away'?
Avatar f tn RBC is 5.25. HGB is 15.4 and HCT is 47.0. Erythropoietin level is 4. WBC is 9.7. I am concerned about primary or secondary "polycythemia". All my CT scans, ultrasounds and MRI tests have come back negative. Does anyone out there have polycythemia? Is there anything I should be doing? At what level do they start removing blood to reduce the risk of clots/stroke, etc.? Is 17 high enough for that? Thank you for your time.
15993089 tn?1444575391 My HCT never returned to normal since my chemo for breast cancer which ended almost a year ago. I am having back and hip pain. When I told my oncologist about the headaches and lip numbness a couple of weeks ago, he said it was probably just anxiety. I'm scared these could all be early signs of metastasis but the oncologist clearly was not concerned.
Avatar m tn Hi, I was diagnosed with primary hypertension a year ago and since then have been on Lisinopril hctz and have recently changed to Micardis 20 mg. Now my BP is not normally high on a daily basis but it raises after drinking alcohol. Now my question is if my BP is high the next day after alcohol even with my meds does that mean my med is not working and I should change or is it normal for alcohol to raise BP and meds not to come into effect?
Avatar n tn I'm really concerned that marc572 suggested some of your results were high. He has no idea what type of analyzer your lab used and he has no idea what your medical history is. Please refer to your doc on this one.
Avatar m tn Hi, i wanna ask a question related to heart disease. My father (54 yo) has been diagnosed before with heart enlargement in around 2015. His blood pressure, cholesterol level and uric acid level were quite high at that time ( i don't know exactly how high was it). Then he came to see the doctor and the doctor gave him medications (one of it called 'micardis'). After since, my father blood pressure and cholesterol level turned normal but the uric acid is still a bit higher than normal.
