m 43 and my pressure generally ran around 185 over 120 (range). My doctor put me on a medicine called Micardis HCT which is a combination medication with the common diuretic hydrochlorothiazide and the drug telmisartan. This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself. I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75.

I have recently changed from Metformin 100 mg x 2, to Coreg 25 mf x 2, and I also take Adalat 60mg, Lisinopril 20 mg and Micardis 80mg. I take Metformin 850 x 3, Januvia 100mg (only for about the last two weeks) and just started on Avandia 4 mg for diabetes. My other meds are for thyroid, GERD, potassium, generalized dystonia (levodopa). Is this something I should be concerned about? I see my doctor in a week and a half, but do I need to contact her before then if this happens again?

my endocrinologist took me off the diovan hct and didnt want me to have any diuretics. However, he wanted me to have a renin and aldersterone test. Which i have not taken yet. Anyway, my body has been retaining fluid and I went to my primary yesterday and he wants me to see a cardiologist for congestive heart failure, low postassium and when can I go back on diuretics. Is CHF really an issue in this case. I'm really concerned.

My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?

my Dad went to see our family doctor. had his blood work and ecg done and showed no sign of heart attack over the weekend. the cardiologist and physician talked and they put my dad back to metoprolol 25mg with the diovan 160/12.5mg. so now he's on lipitor 80mg once daily, metoprolol 25mg (2x daily), diovan, and aspirin 81mg. any comment on this prescription mix? thanks so much for your advice.

with high blood pressure and have been taking Valsartan 320mg w/HCT 25mg along with Amlodipine 2.5mg (which was prescribed in August 2014). My most recent Primary Doc just switched me to Metoprolol Tarta 25mg and off of the Amlodipine to see if that was the cause of the Vertigo, sadly the symptoms are still there.

Started on 80mg, tried 160mg, back to 80mg and currently on Diovan 160mg/12.5mg HCT as of a week ago. My BP was spiking to 150/100 so my doctor decided to try adding the water tab. I use to take it only when I needed it but when my wife was diagnosed with cancer last year I started abusing them for relief from emotional pain. My wife also has pain pills. She has 80mg oxycontin that she takes twice a day as well as 5mg oxycodone that she takes for breakthrough pain. Went to the Dr I was given HCT 25mg well this medicine made me feel so tired and withdrawn I decided myself after I called the Dr several times to break the pill in half and take half in the am and the other half @ nite well unfortunately the headaches dont stop .

I took 40mg a day for two days and then was bumped up to 80mg. I continued taking the 80mg a day but was completely sick on this medication. Can Viagra be crushed. I am proscribed 25mg of viagra which I buy as 50mg pills to save money and cut in half. Cutting a viagra in half is not easy because they are hard coated and not scored (and oddly shaped). I find that 25mg is a little too much since it has side effects (a low blood pressure feeling, even though I don't think my blood pressure is really low). I have tried cutting the 50mg into fourth (very difficult), but this seems like a little too little.
