Avatar n tn This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself. I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75. My question is, are there side effects associated with lowering blood pressure that much that fast? The reason I ask is that I feel as though I do not have good circulation in my feet.
280692 tn?1277105942 I had an enlarged heart 7 years ago due to high blood pressure, and becuase the heart was pumping against high resistance the over worked heart dilated to compensate. Medication lowered blood pressure, the heart responded with a reduced workload favorably and returned to normal size. Your echo test will provide useful information regarding heart chamber size and the heart's ability to adequately pump blood into circulation to meet the oxygenated blood demand.
Avatar m tn My father (54 yo) has been diagnosed before with heart enlargement in around 2015. His blood pressure, cholesterol level and uric acid level were quite high at that time ( i don't know exactly how high was it). Then he came to see the doctor and the doctor gave him medications (one of it called 'micardis'). After since, my father blood pressure and cholesterol level turned normal but the uric acid is still a bit higher than normal.
1204020 tn?1493698890 Blood pressure can fluctuate; yes, including high blood pressure. High blood pressure can also cause headaches, feeling of "crap," etc. How long has it been since you were diagnosed? I am sure you got the message about the smoking and being overweight. Are you not taking the medication? I didn't really understand if you are or not taking the blood pressure medication. Side effects of medications are things THAT CAN happen not ARE GOING TO HAPPEN keep that in mind.
6653958 tn?1395759593 I am healthy, not overweight but has always had high blood pressure even at 11 years old,I feel my heart racing In the morning and it doesn't stop until I take my micardis for hypertension, I sometimes hear a swoosh and my heart Feels like it's jumping a beat, I think I have a heart murmer that's never been heard as my brother has one too, when it take the pill the racing and heart jumping stops alot only sometimes, what would cause this in someone who is not overweight, they always s
Avatar f tn The combination of medications you described is quite commonly used as some of the first agents for treatment of high blood pressure, even in a population of those with diabetes or prone to diabetes. Control of your blood pressure is of course extremely important. Please discuss your concerns with your doctor. Perhaps he/she would consider switching you to a different combination given your concerns, or alternatively simply watch and test you for hyperglycemia in future.
Avatar f tn my mother was asked to stop taking plavix by her cardiologist and since then has had severe headaches and increased blood pressure. She is already taking 2 blood pressure medications to control blood pressure, micardis and nifedipine xl. Do you think her increased bp is due to her coming off of plavix? She does have a pace maker and stints.
Avatar f tn hi...his triglycerides are very high. I cannot diagnose him because im not a physician. But as far as I know, if your father has a blood pressure of systolic >130 and diastolic of >90 for a very long time, it can cause damage to his vital organs. His is not overweight. Based on his lab results, his triglycerides are very high, it should be 40mg/dl. You should be able to know his cholesterol level.
1251922 tn?1269981784 I'm a small-sized 72-year old female. I have been on Micardis 20mg for 2 1/2 months. for the 1st 3-4 week it elevated my BP instead of lowering it. Fortunately, in the 5th week I saw the results (mean day reading:115/75). And the morning surges were gone! But in 2 weeks,i experienced a sudden spike of 148/89. It took a couple of days to return to normal. However, in another 2 weeks there was another spike. And another couple of days to return to normal. Please explain why this happened.
Avatar m tn Hi, I was diagnosed with primary hypertension a year ago and since then have been on Lisinopril hctz and have recently changed to Micardis 20 mg. Now my BP is not normally high on a daily basis but it raises after drinking alcohol. Now my question is if my BP is high the next day after alcohol even with my meds does that mean my med is not working and I should change or is it normal for alcohol to raise BP and meds not to come into effect?
Avatar f tn I thought my hypertension was well controlled with Micardis (40 mg.) but apparently, on mild exertion, my blood pressure can go as high as 160/90. I go to physical therapy for lower back pain. This involves some mild cardiovascular exercise (walking in warm chest-high water.) I am wondering how safe it is for me to continue doing the mild exercise.
404682 tn?1324579818 Hello, My name is Pat and I was recently diagnosed with High BP which has me a bit confused. I had 4 high reading at 3 times but the rest of the time it stayed within the 120s low 130s. The issue is that I'll go along fine and then wham my blood pressure will spike out of nowhere to 170/102 so my dr decided to start me on meds. I started taking norvasc 2.5 mgs at night because my BP is really high when I wake up.
Avatar m tn I've posted on here numerous times and have had quite a few tests but to no avail. I'll start by listing my symptoms. High Blood Pressure - I consider this to be inessential high blood pressure because normal BP meds do not work and I can actually feel my heart and my pulse when my BP spikes...
Avatar f tn I was given Carvedilol, Micardis, and Spironocatone what my cardiologist is attempting to do is to slow my heart rate down but meds for slowing down my heart rate also lowers my already low normal blood pressure and then dizziness occurs. My PCP, my OB/GYN and my Opthalmologist are all alarmed but my cardiologist is not, so I guess I have to look for another cardiologist. Thanks for you help.
548642 tn?1266179652 Hey Rocker, You mention a blood pressure med called Micardis, I thought someone on this board said they were taking blood pressure meds while on TX. Avatar f tn Pain killers with codiene would be the only relief,I made a visit to the doctor about 4 months ago for a check up.I was diagnosed with a slight blood pressure issue and was prescribed a blood pressure tablet called Micardis.Only take 40 miligrams, I dont know the reason why but I have had no miagraines since taking this medication.I could not have had high blood pressure when I was a child so Im putting it down to maybe an ingredients in this medication.
Avatar f tn I would say that if your HR needed to be a little faster than 40s, then adjust metoprolol or diltiazem as your had done, but then increase the enalapril and/or telmisartan to treat the blood pressure. IF labile blood pressure is an issue, I would take enalapril twice a day (even though commonly it is a once a day med, some people metabolize it faster). Also, adding another long-acting BP medication such as amlodipine might be helpful if HR is ideal but BP still too high.
Avatar f tn My nurse told me my blood pressure was high and to lay off salty foods which I don't think I eat much of anyway but I'm wondering if there are any symptoms I should be on the lookout for I'm 35 wks today.

541196 tn?1293552936 Does anyone take medication for high blood pressure and is pregnant? If so, could you please tell me what you take and how successful it is? My dr. just prescribed me an ACE inhibitor that has a big ole warning about death to fetus. I am not pregnant, but my husband and I have been trying. We put our trying on hold for a few months, but would like to resume soon and we aren't super careful with protection now... leave it to God.

Avatar f tn Bupropion can cause pounding of heart and palpitations. It usually does not cause high blood pressure. If the high blood pressure is drug related, it will come down in 2-3 days. If the high BP persists, please get this investigated, monitored and treated. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.

11970743 tn?1426036106 Went to the hospital to get checked out for preeclampsia yet again, checked my blood pressure, urine for protein, and had a cuff on my arm that would check my blood pressure every ten mins and everything was just fine. We work ourselves up, I know I definitely do. Your feet can swell up from so many different things. They pretty much told me to just take it easy and stop being on my feet so much. Good luck!

9070037 tn?1414632966 Previously my pregnancy I was taking medication for High blood pressure. It was Chortalidone which is a diuretic. I was taking that before and during the first four weeks of my pregnancy , until My gyn told me not to take it during my pregnancy. I have 15 weeks already, I'm worried if that could had any effect on my baby. Am I supposed to control my high blood pressure during my pregnancy too? Anyone with high blood pressure that can give me an advice please?
