Avatar n tn This is the first time I have been on blood pressure medicine, and the drug has worked very well in terms of my blood pressure itself. I take my pressure at home with an electric blood pressure monitor and I now average about 130 over 72 to 75. My question is, are there side effects associated with lowering blood pressure that much that fast? The reason I ask is that I feel as though I do not have good circulation in my feet.

Avatar f tn my mother was asked to stop taking plavix by her cardiologist and since then has had severe headaches and increased blood pressure. She is already taking 2 blood pressure medications to control blood pressure, micardis and nifedipine xl. Do you think her increased bp is due to her coming off of plavix? She does have a pace maker and stints.
1251922 tn?1269981784 If you go from a sitting position to standing, the blood pressure will increase, and physical exertion as well. Anxiety can cause a spike in blood pressure. Sometimes an increase in blood pressure is not known...and I assume you have excluded smoking, drinking alcohol, etc. There could be hyperthyriodism.
280692 tn?1277105942 I had an enlarged heart 7 years ago due to high blood pressure, and becuase the heart was pumping against high resistance the over worked heart dilated to compensate. Medication lowered blood pressure, the heart responded with a reduced workload favorably and returned to normal size. Your echo test will provide useful information regarding heart chamber size and the heart's ability to adequately pump blood into circulation to meet the oxygenated blood demand.
Avatar m tn My father (54 yo) has been diagnosed before with heart enlargement in around 2015. His blood pressure, cholesterol level and uric acid level were quite high at that time ( i don't know exactly how high was it). Then he came to see the doctor and the doctor gave him medications (one of it called 'micardis'). After since, my father blood pressure and cholesterol level turned normal but the uric acid is still a bit higher than normal.
6653958 tn?1395759593 I am healthy, not overweight but has always had high blood pressure even at 11 years old,I feel my heart racing In the morning and it doesn't stop until I take my micardis for hypertension, I sometimes hear a swoosh and my heart Feels like it's jumping a beat, I think I have a heart murmer that's never been heard as my brother has one too, when it take the pill the racing and heart jumping stops alot only sometimes, what would cause this in someone who is not overweight, they always s
1204020 tn?1493698890 Blood pressure can fluctuate; yes, including high blood pressure. High blood pressure can also cause headaches, feeling of "crap," etc. How long has it been since you were diagnosed? I am sure you got the message about the smoking and being overweight. Are you not taking the medication? I didn't really understand if you are or not taking the blood pressure medication. Side effects of medications are things THAT CAN happen not ARE GOING TO HAPPEN keep that in mind.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Atenolol 25 mg twice daily and Micardis 20 mg once daily. It's my fertile time. We had a mishap with a condom last night and I am concerned that I could become pregnant. Is the medication a concern, or should I contact my doctor?
548642 tn?1266179652 Hey Rocker, You mention a blood pressure med called Micardis, I thought someone on this board said they were taking blood pressure meds while on TX. I may be looking to treat soon and I just started back on Micardis. I have boderline high BP so I could stop if it is not recommended. Do you have a link I could refer to about the meds you posted about?
Avatar f tn hi...his triglycerides are very high. I cannot diagnose him because im not a physician. But as far as I know, if your father has a blood pressure of systolic >130 and diastolic of >90 for a very long time, it can cause damage to his vital organs. His is not overweight. Based on his lab results, his triglycerides are very high, it should be 40mg/dl. You should be able to know his cholesterol level.
Avatar m tn Doc did a lot of blood work to include CBC, CPK, Vitaman, Iron, HIV, Syphalis, potasium, calcium, etc. The only medicine I take is for Micardis for Highg Blood Pressure.
Avatar f tn Pain killers with codiene would be the only relief,I made a visit to the doctor about 4 months ago for a check up.I was diagnosed with a slight blood pressure issue and was prescribed a blood pressure tablet called Micardis.Only take 40 miligrams, I dont know the reason why but I have had no miagraines since taking this medication.I could not have had high blood pressure when I was a child so Im putting it down to maybe an ingredients in this medication.
Avatar m tn It can lower your blood pressure and may increase some of the side effects of Micardis. Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes while you are taking Micardis, unless your doctor has told you to. You are very young and have the rest of your life to enjoy a drink with friends. Getting drunk is not good for your heart or indeed for the rest of your body. This is an important decision you need to make right now. Look after your body for now or suffer more serious consequences.
Avatar f tn I thought my hypertension was well controlled with Micardis (40 mg.) but apparently, on mild exertion, my blood pressure can go as high as 160/90. I go to physical therapy for lower back pain. This involves some mild cardiovascular exercise (walking in warm chest-high water.) I am wondering how safe it is for me to continue doing the mild exercise.
Avatar f tn I would say that if your HR needed to be a little faster than 40s, then adjust metoprolol or diltiazem as your had done, but then increase the enalapril and/or telmisartan to treat the blood pressure. IF labile blood pressure is an issue, I would take enalapril twice a day (even though commonly it is a once a day med, some people metabolize it faster). Also, adding another long-acting BP medication such as amlodipine might be helpful if HR is ideal but BP still too high.
404682 tn?1324579818 Hello, My name is Pat and I was recently diagnosed with High BP which has me a bit confused. I had 4 high reading at 3 times but the rest of the time it stayed within the 120s low 130s. The issue is that I'll go along fine and then wham my blood pressure will spike out of nowhere to 170/102 so my dr decided to start me on meds. I started taking norvasc 2.5 mgs at night because my BP is really high when I wake up.
Avatar m tn Hi, I was diagnosed with primary hypertension a year ago and since then have been on Lisinopril hctz and have recently changed to Micardis 20 mg. Now my BP is not normally high on a daily basis but it raises after drinking alcohol. Now my question is if my BP is high the next day after alcohol even with my meds does that mean my med is not working and I should change or is it normal for alcohol to raise BP and meds not to come into effect?
Avatar n tn Can anyone tell me if a beta blocker should be used for a harmless PVC. I had quite a few last summer, then they changed by blood pressure meds and they seems to go away. I'd feel one from time to time but not many. Then, my doctor tried to add a diueretic along with my Micardis and the PVS came back to be noticable again. I've done the 3 week holter monitor test and I was diagnosed with harmless PVCs last summer.
Avatar f tn I was given Carvedilol, Micardis, and Spironocatone what my cardiologist is attempting to do is to slow my heart rate down but meds for slowing down my heart rate also lowers my already low normal blood pressure and then dizziness occurs. My PCP, my OB/GYN and my Opthalmologist are all alarmed but my cardiologist is not, so I guess I have to look for another cardiologist. Thanks for you help.
Avatar n tn As a result, your blood vessels relax and widen, and blood can flow with less pressure. This helps your blood pressure to go down." It seems to me that this 'relaxing' of the blood vessels would only make an aneurysm get larger, not smaller or stablize. Can this be explained? While excited about the potential possiblity, I'm also cautious and want to make sure I'm making the right decisions (not just from someone's posting). Are you a doctor?
Avatar m tn It seems associated with mild pressure on the top of my head, almost like a headache and general pressure almost nasally around the sinuses. All ocular tests are normal, hearing is normal. BP normal. Blood glucose levels during episodes are normal. No changes in vision. General weakness on occasion but no deficits noted specifically. Slight feeling off balance when lightheaded. At times exacerbated while focusing on objects or reading on the computer.
Avatar m tn ve tried standard BP meds like Micardis, and they did nothing to help my blood pressure, which is why my doctor thinks my high BP is inessential. I've also tried Bystolic, which is supposed to be a higher grade of beta blocker in comparison to Atenolol, but Bystolic did nothing for me. For simply blocking adrenaline to the heart, Atenolol is awesome. I also take 25mg of HCTZ (water pill, basically) and 145mg of Tricor, which is for triglycerides.
Avatar f tn I also had to limit my metoprolol because of , what I thought, was the lowest rate that I wanted. I also take lisinopril, which is an ace inhibitor, to lower the blood pressure. It works differently and does not lower the heart rate. I think both of these drugs are good in my case and maybe in yours.
Avatar m tn I am currently on MiCardis and Atenolol. Have responded well to them for over two years. Last few days have experienced increased BP according to my monitor but I'll check three times in a row and the readings will differ significantly (Ex: yesterday, 151/110 then 146/109 and finally 137/93) This has been happening the past four days. So my questions are: Should I seek to change medications? Change dosages? Or could there be other causes that are temporary that might 'go away'?
987762 tn?1671273328 Every family member we've lost, on both sides of the gene pool, has actually been due to cancer. All different cancers though, Dad was the youngest with bowel cancer, they thought they'd caught it early but during his op they discovered it was was at stage 4 and they had to remove his bowel, it had already spread to his liver, no signs or warnings prior to getting constipated.
