Avatar f tn I have been taking Atenolol 25 mg twice daily and Micardis 20 mg once daily. It's my fertile time. We had a mishap with a condom last night and I am concerned that I could become pregnant. Is the medication a concern, or should I contact my doctor?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with tachycardia 5 years ago but here recently I have been having chest pain when sitting and paps that last longer. One episode with paps was so bad that I had to struggle to catch my breath. Is this just part of it?
Avatar m tn There could be blocked arteries in your legs, called peripheral artery disease that may be causing your leg pain. “If you can walk through the pain and it gets better as you go, it’s rheumatoid arthritis,” says Michael R. Jaff, an osteopathic physician and medical director of the vascular diagnostic laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. “With PAD, the more you walk, the worse the pain gets,” he says.

Avatar f tn once i have had a nap I am back to the previous reading. I have been taking Twynsta for over a year this erratic BP reading has happened only during the last few weeks and I feel tired much quicker than I used to . I lead a fairly active life.
Avatar m tn I am currently on MiCardis and Atenolol. Have responded well to them for over two years. Last few days have experienced increased BP according to my monitor but I'll check three times in a row and the readings will differ significantly (Ex: yesterday, 151/110 then 146/109 and finally 137/93) This has been happening the past four days. So my questions are: Should I seek to change medications? Change dosages? Or could there be other causes that are temporary that might 'go away'?
Avatar m tn Hi, i wanna ask a question related to heart disease. My father (54 yo) has been diagnosed before with heart enlargement in around 2015. His blood pressure, cholesterol level and uric acid level were quite high at that time ( i don't know exactly how high was it). Then he came to see the doctor and the doctor gave him medications (one of it called 'micardis'). After since, my father blood pressure and cholesterol level turned normal but the uric acid is still a bit higher than normal.
Avatar m tn Hi, I was diagnosed with primary hypertension a year ago and since then have been on Lisinopril hctz and have recently changed to Micardis 20 mg. Now my BP is not normally high on a daily basis but it raises after drinking alcohol. Now my question is if my BP is high the next day after alcohol even with my meds does that mean my med is not working and I should change or is it normal for alcohol to raise BP and meds not to come into effect?
1260907 tn?1269748318 I have gained a lot of body fat, I am currently on Micardis HCT for BP, Lortab for back pain post surgery, Lexapro, and of course the ambien to help me get to sleep. Dont get me wrong I couldnt stay up at night but I worked 3rd shift for 3 years till 10 months ago so night time is hard for me to fall asleep, when I do sleep it is not good sleep so I assume that is why I wanna sleep all the time. Just in general what is the chances of me having an underactive thyroid?
Avatar f tn with a headache on back right side of head plus shoulder pain. I have fibromyalgia so assumed it was from that. By 4 a.m when I took my dog out I decided to check bp. It was 190/106 heartrate 83. I take my meds at 5:30 a.m. so laid back down and retook bp before I took meds. It was 140/85. I assumed the elevation had been from the pain so took meds and went to sleep. Took bp when I got up at 9:30 and was 174/97. I called my electrophysiologist.

Avatar m tn It can lower your blood pressure and may increase some of the side effects of Micardis. Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes while you are taking Micardis, unless your doctor has told you to. You are very young and have the rest of your life to enjoy a drink with friends. Getting drunk is not good for your heart or indeed for the rest of your body. This is an important decision you need to make right now. Look after your body for now or suffer more serious consequences.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if the two combines would hurt me.. I also take Micardis 40-mg once in the morning and Propranolol 20-mg that I take in the evening.. I just want to make sure before i take the Citalopram.. And if you suggest I take it, what is a good time, morning, afternoon or evening? Thank you and God bless..
Avatar f tn She is already taking 2 blood pressure medications to control blood pressure, micardis and nifedipine xl. Do you think her increased bp is due to her coming off of plavix? She does have a pace maker and stints.
Avatar f tn Hi! Thanks for your thoughts on the matter. We went back to the neurologist last Friday to discuss the MRI and MRA results. The MRI of my husband's cervical spine showed that some discs in his neck were pushing against his spinal cord. According to the doctor, this was what was causing the pain in the neck and the headaches. This could be corrected with physical therapy.
Avatar m tn Thank you for your question Rob. I could not tell exactly what is going since they did not tell you what the ECG abnormality was on your ECG that was performed. It sounds like you demonstrated premature ventricular complex (or complexs)-PVC's or premature atrial complexes PAC's on your ECG. This is what is meant by "ectopic" beats, which are electrical impulses that orginate from a source other than where they normally originate from, the sinus node.
Avatar n tn d feel one from time to time but not many. Then, my doctor tried to add a diueretic along with my Micardis and the PVS came back to be noticable again. I've done the 3 week holter monitor test and I was diagnosed with harmless PVCs last summer. I have been asked if I'd like to try a beta blocker and I'm unsure. I am concerned about my heart rate going to low and the huge list of side effects I read about them. The palpitations drive me nuts and scare me to no end.
Avatar f tn I was given Carvedilol, Micardis, and Spironocatone what my cardiologist is attempting to do is to slow my heart rate down but meds for slowing down my heart rate also lowers my already low normal blood pressure and then dizziness occurs. My PCP, my OB/GYN and my Opthalmologist are all alarmed but my cardiologist is not, so I guess I have to look for another cardiologist. Thanks for you help.
Avatar m tn Finally diagnosied with severe sleep apnea. Was put on bi-pap therapy and things were GREAT, for a year. Now headahces are back with a vengeance. he is no longer able to work, is taking many many drugs. CAT scan, MRI, lumbar puncture negative. Has been admitted and treated with prednisone for a week with no change. has seen two neurologists who basically say they have nothing to offer. Stress test negative, carotid doppler negative.
1251922 tn?1269981784 I'm a small-sized 72-year old female. I have been on Micardis 20mg for 2 1/2 months. for the 1st 3-4 week it elevated my BP instead of lowering it. Fortunately, in the 5th week I saw the results (mean day reading:115/75). And the morning surges were gone! But in 2 weeks,i experienced a sudden spike of 148/89. It took a couple of days to return to normal. However, in another 2 weeks there was another spike. And another couple of days to return to normal. Please explain why this happened.
280692 tn?1277105942 thank you for the very informative answer to my query and enlightened me on my worries. my doctor upgrade the dosage of my medication. now, i take 80mg of Micardis from 40mg and i am waiting for the result of my 2decho test.
95361 tn?1219870284 I have recently changed from Metformin 100 mg x 2, to Coreg 25 mf x 2, and I also take Adalat 60mg, Lisinopril 20 mg and Micardis 80mg. I take Metformin 850 x 3, Januvia 100mg (only for about the last two weeks) and just started on Avandia 4 mg for diabetes. My other meds are for thyroid, GERD, potassium, generalized dystonia (levodopa). Is this something I should be concerned about? I see my doctor in a week and a half, but do I need to contact her before then if this happens again?
Avatar m tn I know many people have these symptoms, as a medical student I know that this most likely can be due to sinusitis, which results in a variety of symptoms including facial pain, tooth pain, headache, eye pain, dizziness, lightheadedness, vertigo, etc. due to sinus irritation, infection (bacterial, viral, or fungal). However, I have very mild, if not any pain. Sometimes knowing this much about disease causes me to turn into a hypochondriac.
