Avatar f tn I started taking metronidazole yesterday I took 2 pills that day... today I realized I haven't had my period this month. So I decide to take a pregnancytest before I start my second day on metronidazole. I took the test a 3pm and both test were positive. so I stopped the pills.I was wondering if the medication made my test positive or am I really pregnant.take another prego test? & when?
Avatar f tn I just finished a week on it. Same here, bacterial vaginosis. I had it 3 times with my second pregnancy. It was miserable. Hoping I don't have to take that stuff ever again!
Avatar f tn I am 34 weeks pregnant and am very concerned about all these antibiotics (about 4) i took during my pregnancy, 3 were zithromycin z pack and one was metronidazole for bacterial vaginosis in my third trimester. For all these antibiotics, i received strong reassurance that they are safe to take to treat my common occuring respiratory infections. I am concerned. Is there anyone here who took many antbx during pregnancy and had a healthy child? AMEN...

385161 tn?1270081218 So here is my situation....I am 9 weeks 3 days pregnant with twins. Went to the doctor 2 weeks ago and was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis. She didn't want to prescribe antibiotics because I am in my first trimester.
Avatar n tn i think there is a slight risk of eptopic pregnancy but the risk is very small, so i see no gd reason to termanate the pregnancy unless you dont want a baby
Avatar f tn I believe they use Metronidazole to treat this, and it can cause similar symptoms to pregnancy. (Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, headaches, flushing, mood changes, etc) Depending on when you last used the medicine though, it might be out of your system. If the symptoms you have are due to pregnancy then a test should be accurate. Use a good test, such as first response and test with first morning urine. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I am 18 weeks with my first. I was diagnosed with BV (bacterial vaginosis) and they put me on a antibiotic to help with it. The doctor informed me that it could cause early labor. I am very nervous and wanna know if any other moms have experienced this!!!

Avatar f tn I had to take it last week for 5 days. Everything is great with baby. It does say that there is no harm to take it however I understand your concern. I'm 27w 5d I'm sure I would've been me hesitant at 6 weeks.
187316 tn?1386356682 I have just gotten off of meds for a horrible uti. I finished the meds yesterday. They are not to be taken during pregnancy. They are macrobid and metronidazole. Just found out I'm pregnant today and I'm super worried.
Avatar n tn For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?

1054108 tn?1314298660 s a one dose cream that is fabulous!! Treat the infection and dont worry. Some people get recurrent BV with pregnancy... just bacteria that gets out of balance.
Avatar f tn Went in for my normal check up and doc told me I have a bacterial Infection, She Prescribed me "Metronidazole". I was reading up on it and it says not to be used during pregnancy! Kind of worries me, any of u ladies ever had this stuff prescribed to u?
Avatar f tn Well, this medication is the gold standard for bacterial vaginosis. Is this what you are taking it for? BV can be passed sexually. You can give your partner BV that they then pass back to you or be reinfected through unprotected sex. BV is hard to get rid of in general let alone if you are exposing yourself to it over and over. Often, when an infection won't clear, the sex partner of someone with it is also treated with flagyl. So, using a condom would be smart in this instance.
Avatar f tn Is there anyone who has had bv during their pregnancy ?
Avatar f tn Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet. Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.
Avatar m tn My heart beat is erratic most of the time anyway but when I tried taking flagyl for campylobacter, it didn't affect my heart at all. I just got extremely sick and intestinal issues worsened. They had to switch me.
Avatar f tn I also took metronidazole but was prescribed it vaginally! This was early in my pregnancy and I never had any issues with it.
Avatar f tn The metronidazole is for bv, not yeast. it's a shame your provider never did any proper testing to see what is going on and evidently just treated you for bv and then when that didn't work, treated you for yeast with the monistat. had you had any vaginitis testing done at all during the 2 years that you had itching issues? You only have to increase your valtrex to 500mg 2x/day for 3 days to treat ob's.
