Avatar f tn How long is a urine specimen shelf life once collected for a cocaine test?
Avatar m tn i have been given Gynazole (sp), miconazole, metronidazole, flagyl, fluconazole, and have also tried tioconazole, to no avail. So I stopped going to doctors for it. But now I want to get an IUD, and I am wondering if the IUD can be inserted during the presence of a yeast infection? I know certain infections are contraindications, but are yeast infections? I don't think they can spread to the cervix/uterus.
Avatar n tn I have found that the synthetics only have a shelf of about 2-3 years, if that. But Armour has a shelf life of 17 years. Are the Raw thyroids sold on the internet a possibility for me also and are their shelf life as long? I take 120 mcg levothyroxine.
Avatar f tn Being a second generation nitroimidazole with a longer half-life than metronidazole, it requires lower dosages, to be taken less frequently than metronidazole. Although antibiotics are effective against anaerobic microorganisms, the have an inability to completely eradicate the densely-structured polymicrobial BV biofilms-associated bacteria G. Vaginalis.
Avatar m tn Liver Disease Metronidazole is extensively metabolized by the liver to both pharmacologically active and inactive compounds. The plasma clearance of metronidazole may be decreased and the half-life prolonged in patients with impaired hepatic function. Therapy with metronidazole should be administered cautiously at reduced dosages in patients with severe liver disease.
Avatar f tn ve been told by my GI doctor that my peripherial neurapathy is partially caused by the over-use of the metronidazole a antibiotic. I also have low levels of vitamin b1. my question is on the antibiotic metronidazole, Can this cause to my peripherial neurapathy be "corrected" after the toxin has finally left my body? or will this be permantent and get "worse" with time? what can I do to stave off the progression if so?
Avatar n tn I would be careful with antibiotics. I went through a year of alternating BV/Yeast infections. The antibiotics for the BV would kill off all the bacteria, including the good bacteria which would then cause a yeast infection. What worked for me was to irrigate my vagina with hydrogen peroxide 3% (the kind you can buy off the shelf at the drug store). I would just get a syringe and fill it up and insert it vaginally and release it.
Avatar f tn I took metronidazole gel at about 20 weeks for bv and baby is fine now at about 28 weeks

Avatar n tn For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
Avatar f tn Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet. Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.
Avatar m tn My heart beat is erratic most of the time anyway but when I tried taking flagyl for campylobacter, it didn't affect my heart at all. I just got extremely sick and intestinal issues worsened. They had to switch me.

Avatar m tn Here's what happened. I met up with a couple (gay) that I know. We messed around (all three of us) for a bit, then one left to go to sleep, leaving just two of us. My friend used a dildo on me, one of which he uses on his boyfriend. He did wash it, though I am not sure how, I just know that water was used, unsure if soap was.
Avatar f tn When I found out that I had trich, I bought Metronidazole and took 2grams (1 dosage) of it. Metronidazole made me feel really sick! Anyway, after a week I realized that I still had trich. Exactly the same symptoms were still there. So, I took Tinidazole.. a 2g dose. When will this take effect? I took tinidazole after I had dinner and went to sleep right away so that I won't feel the side effects of which I had when I took Metronidazole.
1049259 tn?1295088478 Hi, The half-life of Metronidazole is about 8 hours. It takes about 1-2 days to clear it out of the system. With your history of panic attacks and same symptoms, then, the tingling of the hands may not be associated with the medicine. If it does not persist, you may not need to go to the ER. However, you my also want to address your panic attacks. Sometimes this starts when a person is under a lot of stress. Try to relax and de-stress. This can be managed with medical treatment.
219241 tn?1413537765 The blister packs are to optimize the freshness, as the shelf life has been purposely reduced by half. That is also why you are required to refrigerate the blister packs. Sunythetic T4 hormones in the US have not changed their shelf life, so the blister packs and refrigeration are not as much of an issue. And yes, If I could get those US manufactured pharmaceuticals cheaper by getting them from Mexico or Canada (who buy them from US companies at a reduced rate), I would be doing it.
Avatar f tn As far as I know the syringe itself will not expire, but the rubber stopper on the syringe plunger may have a shelf life. If you have a bunch of syringes that are due to expire, I would recommend speaking with the manufacturer, they may be able to give you some insight on why the syringe has an expiration date. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn My doctor prescribed me Azithromycin tablets to take as one dose and then gave me an injection of Ceftriaxone and prescribed me Doxycycline and Metronidazole after I told him I was still having severe abdominal pain. However, my doctor said that after the pelvic exam and ultrasound, he did not suspect that I had PID and that a laparoscopy would be more definitive to diagnose it.
