Avatar f tn I take metronidazole if that's flagyl and I have bv my doctor told me it's okay to take it while pregnant
Avatar f tn symptoms seem to clear out and now on my 4th day of period i had a lot of itching and the fishy smell came back. Is there anything as chronic trich or could it maybe be BV or just a yeast infection? I dont have access to the healthcare at the moment.on the remote island and dont want to take another load of metronidazole.i got tested for everything 3 months ago and everything came negative.that was without the time with any problems or symptoms. would you advise?
Avatar m tn The doctor prescribed Flagyl (metronidazole) after taking blood, urine and stool sample. He said blood and urine test looked normal., the stool test results hasn' t been released yet. I have started to loose weight and started to feel mild pain in my lower back and legs. Is my doctor on the right track ? Is it a parasite my problem or could this be caused by something else like krohn disease or pancreatic problem ? I really appreciate your comments. Thankyou for your help.
Avatar f tn Though my pain has lessened and I went to doc she gave me Metronidazole Vaginal Gel for 5 days.
Avatar m tn As you mention, the preferred therapy is a single dose of metronidazole (flagyl). On the other hand, the antibiotics you mention would be expected to cure chlamydia, NGU and nearly all gonorrhea. Did your symptoms improve on any of these medications or were they unchanged? Let me know your responses to these clarifying questions and I may be able to add another comment or two.
Avatar f tn Doubtful. The bacteria transferred from the mouth to the vagina causes havoc down there especially if the mouth is not clean. In other words, before oral sex even begins, consider the use of a dental dam (lets be real though, that almost never happens these days) or send him to brush his teeth and use mouth wash while he's at it.
Avatar n tn Anyone else in this boat, as soon as you feel tingling or numbness in your hands or feet, STOP TAKING THE FLAGYL AND CALL YOUR DOCTOR. There are other options for antibiotic treatment and if these symptoms are left unchecked even for a couple days it can have long lasting nerve damage. Nausea, exhaustion, dizziness, acid reflux, etc are normal, Flagyl is an absolute beast to take, but mental confusion, blurred vision, tingling or numbness or burning, all are much more serious.
Avatar n tn It has to be treated with an antimicrobial. Flagyl works in some cases. It needs to be monitored to make sure it clears so work with a doc who knows what they're doing when it comes to C. diff. Not all docs are familiar with its treatment.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with C. diff. After my second hospital stay, I was sent home with Metronidazole 500MG tablets to take with food 3X a day. I am on my 8th day of taking this, and still have diarrhea with a loss of appetite. When will the diarrhea clear up? After the Flagyl treatment is completed? Should I be taking a probiotic supplement along with the Flagyl? I have no other symptoms other than the diarrhea/bloating.
Avatar n tn I took only 2 days' worth of flagyl (metronidazole) 3 months ago. After the first 2 days, I noticed tingling/burning in my feet, so I didn't take anymore. It initially lasted about 3 days. Then, I was completely symptom-free for a month. Then, the pain came back. It's been off and on since, but has seemed to have gotten more intense and is sometimes in my hands as well.
Avatar n tn My doctor prescribed me metronidazole because of my yeast infection but I'm really "iffy" about taking it because I don't want to harm my baby. Have any of u guys taken metronidazole while pregnant ?
385161 tn?1270081218 I need some advice...anyone take flagyl or metronidazole vaginal inserts for BV? is this doctor correct? Should I demand more cultures or just take the meds? What happens if I don't treat BV, i've heard it can cause preterm labor, and raises risk of miscarriage, but is it safe to treat now???? HELP> > > ps. is it time for a new doctor?
Avatar f tn It all started when I was proscribed Flagyl, commonly known as Metronidazole, for a stomach parasite in late August. I was told to take 500 mg, 3 times a day for a week. Up until the 5th night, I was experiencing "common" symptoms such as lack of appetite, nausea, etc. I also happened to be working a night shift, as I was a summer student at a Grain Elevator, which didn't help matters. On the 5th night, I called in sick as I had a headache and was feeling generally unwell.
Avatar n tn Hi guys,i seen some peoples on this forum that got rid off patm with Flagyl(Metronidazole), have you tried this? Would be nice to hear some oppinions about it from peoples who actually used it.
Avatar f tn 4 days post admission it was found I had c diff and eventually discharged home on metronidazole. After 4 more hosp admissions and an anterior resection and a defunctioning ileostomy for six months I question whether or not the gentamycin and cefuroxime caused more damage than good and why I wasnt given vancomyin as soon as it was know I was c diff pos as I had been metronidazole for several weeks by that time.
Avatar m tn I had unprotected oral sex (never have anal) with a man around 10 or 12 days ago; i received the oral sex. Around 4 days later i started feeling discomfort in my penis (gradually felt like a mild piercing pain) and there was an unpleasant smell. Anyway, i went to the doctor today and he gave me the following treatment: doxiciclina, flagyl (metronidazolum) and eficef (cefixima) as as well as Arcoxia and some vitamin supplements. He told me to avoid sport, exercise, spicy food and caffeine.
9065649 tn?1418258207 (bacteria vaganosis) they finally gave me medicine for it... i got the generic brand for Flagyl?! Called METRONIDAZOLE... and it cleary says NO BREASTFEEDING on the bottle why would my doctor give me this and i told her my son still BREASTFEEDS... also your supposed to ONLY GET 14PILLS NOT 30!
Avatar f tn Went in for my normal check up and doc told me I have a bacterial Infection, She Prescribed me "Metronidazole". I was reading up on it and it says not to be used during pregnancy! Kind of worries me, any of u ladies ever had this stuff prescribed to u?
Avatar f tn Metronidazole is typically used to treat vaginosis, specifically BV and trich. It's also used to treat other gram negative rods. But in terms of STD treatment, it's really not used for anything except trich, which could cause the itchiness you're talking about, but it also is accompanied by discharge. So to answer you question, Metro should not have caused any false negatives, unless it was Trich and even then they could probably see dead cells in a scope.
Avatar f tn I am worried that I got clostridium difficile diarrhea due to taking antibiotics, as I work in healthcare and may have been colonizing it in my gut prior to the antibiotics. I am 5 weeks pregnant. Has anyone had this during pregnancy? I called my dr today and they think it's a stomach flu so I will give it the weekend to see if it goes away and call again. What I'm nervous about is the treatment. It's either metronidazole (flagyl) or vancomycin.
Avatar f tn Sorry you are having this issue. Bacterial vaginosis --- gardnerella vaginosis can be very difficult to totally eradicate or get rid of. Notoriously, it comes back. I would suspect that if you take the medication and it is cleared up, then your partner is passing it to you. Whether he tested negative or not. Have you both taken flagyl at the same time for it? That is probably the next step to getting rid of it. But again, it's a tricky little bug and is hard to get rid of.
Avatar n tn I have been prescribed a course of Metronidazole (Flagyl) by my GP. (3 400mg tabs per day with food). I have done much reading on my infection but have been unable to find any information suggesting this antibiotic is the correct treatment. It is reasonable to assume I have been carrying this infection for many years due to the related timeline of symptoms. I am concerned for my fertility and want to ensure I am being treated with the correct medication.
