Avatar f tn Amoxicillin + metronidazole may be more effective than amoxicillin alone. After extraction , amoxicillin, metronidazole, Tylenol, and Advil are effective post op pharmacological intervention, which yields minimal post op discomfort.
Avatar f tn Are you nursing the babies? I had an infection while nursing my youngest and as I remember (he is now 13 years old), you need to make sure to keep the milk flowing....pump that breast every few hours and nurse off the other side until it feels less sore. The antibiotics should take care of it I would imaging. If you can call a nurse hotline, or speak to a nurse at the hospital it would probably be a good idea! Congrats on your twins!
Avatar f tn I had an episode of left sided pain and was put on a broad spectum antibiotic by my GP (previously dx with diverticulosis 6 months prior). I was nursing in a hospice and there was a huge outbreak of c diff at the local hospital and there were patients being transferred to us so that is thought where I got c diff. I was admitted to the emergency dept with high temp, WCC 19,000, severe generalised abdo pain, vomiting and explosive, offensive diarrhoea.
Avatar f tn A friend of mine has a very bad wound on her lower leg. She is in a nursing home where they just decided to treat her wound in a bathtub with A-33 cleaner added to the water. Is this a usual (and/or) acceptable practice for wound care treatment? I thought you were suppose to go to great lenghts to keep A-33 off of your skin. 1054108 tn?1314298660 My OB has prescribed me fluconazole 150 mg (one tablet only) for yeast infection and metronidazole 500 mg (to take for seven days) to treat bacterial vagnosis infection. She said it is safe however I am still hesitating. Please I need your advices.
Avatar n tn It is transmitted from person to person by the fecal-oral route. Because the organism forms heat-resistant spores, it can remain in the hospital or nursing home environment for long periods of time. It can be cultured from almost any surface in the hospital. Once spores are ingested, they pass through the stomach unscathed because of their acid-resistance. They change to their active form in the colon and multiply.
5263096 tn?1374273724 Do any of you watch the TV show on A&E called Intervention? I was watching it for a bit because it's about addiction and I thought it would be educational. Although it's very entertaining and I do like the show I have found it kinda makes me crave pills. I have no idea why because it's not like they glorify addiction by any means on the show. Have any of you watched it and felt that way?
1830012 tn?1336520993 As i watch the show Intervention it so means more now after being sober. I've always wanted the best for those on the show but now i'am screaming to my tv "yes go u *******" no matter what the addiction is. My addiction has been to hydro & even though 4 weeks ago i would of said " it hasn't changed me ( my 8-10 of 10mg a day) i truly didn't know how much it did until now after being sober 25 days.
781991 tn?1237964779 E every Monday night (check your local listings) called Intervention. They show 2 every Monday. Usually an old one and a new one. It sheds light on certain people's addictions. Basically they find someone with an addiction problem. It could be anything.....pills...alcohol....herion...crystal meth...cocaine....eating disorders and I've even seen compulsive gamblers. No matter the addiction, it really hits home and if you've watched it you would know what I mean.
Avatar n tn I am fairly certain that my daughter is using oxycontin, maybe other stuff. I will have her back home next week. This is the plan we and other of the extended family are considering & I'd like your feed back. Have the family members get together with her for an intervention - (cept all I know is what they do on TV), i.e. basically telling her with our arms around her that we all KNOW but only after we have in place a place for her to go for rehab, if she chooses.
Avatar f tn I watched an episode of intervention the other night and the guy was clean from presciption pain pills. He said that the Dr. told him after being on them for awhile, your brain will not communicate with your lungs and you can just stop breathing at anytime, I did not know about this, is it true?
Avatar m tn Anyone watching Intervention on A&E now? You should see it, is about a woman who is addicted to prescribed drugs.
Avatar f tn Help please-- Just found this site----we (family) are going to try to do an intervention tomorrow with a family member. I am afraid of what will happen. She is on Xanax and alcohol. She has alienated her family and is sleeping and drinking her days away. any advice (ASAP) would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I used to CRY when I would watch intervention, because I knew I needed help so bad! you're not alone on that one, during the last few months of my using I would cry ALL the time to my fiance, and my roomate about how badly I needed help and needed to go to rehab. they were supportive of me quitting, but not leaving to go to rehab. They were afraid that everything would fall apart if I left for even 30 days. you know, bills, house responsibilites, and all that!
Avatar f tn Does any body ever tune in to the A&E show called Intervention? It's a tough show to watch but well worth it....
1401949 tn?1296043724 What my question is is how do you do an intervention?? What is the best method and how do I aproach the subject. I know she has to go on her own, but it is out of control and I am trying to figure out a way to push her possibly over the edge? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless!
Avatar n tn I went to several different doctors and they all told me I have Peri oral Dermatitis. I was prescribed Metronidazole at first and with no luck. The dryness slowly got worse and the red spots were not going away. I used Phisioderm to wash my wash my face and the dryness disappeared in a few days but then came back just as quick. After seeing a dermatologist he prescribed me Doxycycline for 1 month and an ointment made of Clindamycin 2%, HC 1% in 80% h20 and 20% isopropanol.
Avatar f tn I took metronidazole gel at about 20 weeks for bv and baby is fine now at about 28 weeks

Avatar n tn For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
Avatar f tn Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet. Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.
