After, I was really worried if either of this (sexual intercourse or the oral sex) would affect my treatment of the BV at all or have an impact on the metronidazole working and its effectiveness? Is it advisable to avoid sex during the course of taking the metronidazole?
BTW I don't have any symptoms of BV anymore though (although I am still continuing to take the medicine).
I had watery foul smelling discharge last week I knew it was bv so I used the metronidazole vaginal gel but now I have white thick clumpy discharge no smell no pain and I'm 26 weeks pregnant. I havent had any prenatal care so i basically self diagnosed myself. How do I clear it up.
1. should i take metronidazole before going back to the doctor?
2. assuming that my doctor had a mistake, is there any bad effect in my health after taking the medications?
3. will it be appropriate if i will discuss to my doctor about what i just learned?

I have not had sex since I was diagnosed. But the metronidazole is not working. So now they gave me Clindamycin so hopefully this works.
I was told I had BV two weeks ago. I was given 5 tablets of metronidazole to swallow by mouth in one go that evening.
I returned to the clinic on a Tuesday and was told some BV remained (half of it had gone). I was then given another 10 metronidazole tablets to take by mouth (one twice a day). The doctor said no alcohol but did not mention anything at all about whether I should refrain from sex.

Not that I am aware of. I have taken metronidazole without any problems except for it bothering my stomach.

hello, I have recently had a urine test and tested positive for ngu, been prescribed metronidazole, ciprofloxacin & prescribed myself with doxycycline tablets after research on the web. 1 day after i start medication I notice a rash in the head of my penis, it doesn't itch or irritate me, If I hadn't of seen it I wouldn't of knew it was there? can this be a side effect of by medication, or any other sti?
I’m 28 , not sexually active haven’t been for 7 or so years. I went to the obgyn last week they ran urine samples and std tests and everything was okay, I told them I’m spotting still for two weeks now three and cramping the test came back for BV so they prescribed me Metronidazole I felt way too anxious about taking it , Friday I went in for a ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound I believe and got the results today that it was fine.
For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily).
I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm.
My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night?
I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
