metronidazole in pregnancy

I have just gotten off of meds for a horrible uti. I finished the meds yesterday. They are not to be taken during pregnancy. They are macrobid and metronidazole. Just found out I'm pregnant today and I'm super worried.

I just finished a week on it. Same here, bacterial vaginosis. I had it 3 times with my second pregnancy. It was miserable. Hoping I don't have to take that stuff ever again!

Ive taken it with my 2nd pregnancy. My son was fine. Just drink lots of water with it. Youll be okay.

I started taking metronidazole yesterday I took 2 pills that day... today I realized I haven't had my period this month. So I decide to take a pregnancytest before I start my second day on metronidazole. I took the test a 3pm and both test were positive. so I stopped the pills.I was wondering if the medication made my test positive or am I really pregnant.take another prego test? & when?

I am 34 weeks pregnant and am very concerned about all these antibiotics (about 4) i took during my pregnancy, 3 were zithromycin z pack and one was metronidazole for bacterial vaginosis in my third trimester. For all these antibiotics, i received strong reassurance that they are safe to take to treat my common occuring respiratory infections. I am concerned. Is there anyone here who took many antbx during pregnancy and had a healthy child? AMEN...

I've had it a few times in my life and it is common in early pregnancy. In fact I had it with this pregnancy. When I went for my 2nd doc visit I was told it showed up on my pap. So they gave me the nasty meds for it but the doc didn't want me to take it until I hit the 13th week mark. So I had to take the meds till they were gone. I'm not sure why it happens but if I had to guess it would be from not showering after sex.

i think there is a slight risk of eptopic pregnancy but the risk is very small, so i see no gd reason to termanate the pregnancy unless you dont want a baby

Went in for my normal check up and doc told me I have a bacterial Infection, She Prescribed me "Metronidazole". I was reading up on it and it says not to be used during pregnancy! Kind of worries me, any of u ladies ever had this stuff prescribed to u?

Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.

I'm 25 weeks pregnant my doctor prescribed me Metronidazole Vaginal Gel for a bacteria that I have, has anyone else taken this during a pregnancy ? I'm really scared I've read about women who've lost their baby by taking this gel I'm really scared I called my OB and I asked him if its safe for the baby and he said it is but I'm really concerned about this, its my first baby too. perhaps i can go to my doctor after 2 to 3 mos because still dont have a job right now/.. in case you didnt know, i live in the philippines.. here, people are always having a hard time looking for a job.. anyway ill keep you posted.. i still have a yellow discharge and i do frequent urination esp during the night.. can i ask u what fruits and veggies do i have to eat to lessen or to prevent this sickness from being severe.. thank u so much doctor..

Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet. Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.

For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?

I was diagnosed with BV but in my third trimester. I was prescribed Flagyl, but ended up doing the metronidazole suppositories. I don't think your doctor would prescribe anything that was harmful. good luck!

I have been diagnosed with bv twice during pregnancy once early on second about a month ago ....

My heart beat is erratic most of the time anyway but when I tried taking flagyl for campylobacter, it didn't affect my heart at all. I just got extremely sick and intestinal issues worsened. They had to switch me.

I also took metronidazole but was prescribed it vaginally! This was early in my pregnancy and I never had any issues with it.

Anyways .. My doctor prescribed me metronidazole 4 pills 500 mg each to take all at once.. So me and him ate and then took them this morning/afternoon around mabey 130 or 2 pm.. Well I have been feeling real nauseous and having diharea.. Long story short I three up what looked like everything I've ate today.. Does this mean the meds won't work or did they have enough time to disolve and work its way into my system whenre throwing up wouldn't matter?
