I hope they at least told you not to drink alcohol with it - it can make you very sick. does your college have student health services? You can go there, or to a Planned Parenthood or std clinic. You don't have to go all the way home. Being on your period is fine, but you might want to use pads, and not tampons, if you find yourself getting more irritated.

My boyfriend and i were both given 2000MG 1 dose of metronidazole, as far as i know Met would have cleared it up in one dose but sometimes you need to take it again. IF you have it and if you went back to the dr's and had them say it was still there.if not. I suggest not messing with antibiotics, they lower your immune system and make you VERY sick from the side effects. if Flagyl 2 grams orally as single dose 500mg 4 pills didnt work then suggest you talk to your dr.
Is 4 weeks the amt of time that the symptoms should be gone? how long does it take to cure an ulcer? My upper GI test didn't show an ulcer, but my dr seems to think there may be a small one there that didn't show on the test. My symptoms are pain at the very top of my stomach and it's worst when my stomach is empty. The pain has diminished down to discomfort, but it's still not totally gone yet. it's been 4 weeks. how long does it take to get back to normal?

That was back when i was a teenager and extremely overconcious and shy. I seemed to have grown out of the shyness and the IB, thankgod, but i could imagine your struggles!
I've been wanting to respond to this post and get part-way through but never finish! So I'll be brief and say that yes, I treated late-diagnosed Lyme for several years and have improved greatly. I don't know exactly when I was infected, but I was "bad" (with neurological involvement) for about a year before diagnosis. I treated (and still plan to treat more after an upcoming [not Lyme-related] surgery is out of the way) starting in Fall 2008. So I guess almost 4 years!
I would ask your doctor to put you on Vancomycin, instead of or in addition to metronidazole (Flagyl.) Studies show there are new forms of C.Diff. bacteria that don't respond to just Flagyl alone. The medication they finally put my Mom on because she had a resistant form of C.Diff. was Rifaximin, because the Vancomycin and Flagyl combo didn't/couldn't get rid of her infection.
I just wanted to post a little update to say that I have been off antibiotics for a week and started herbs today. I feel much "cleaner" off antibiotics, it is very refreshing and I don't fully know how do describe wht it is like to have my system clear of that stuff after so long, but it feels nice. I'm much more optimistic about the herbs after all your comments. Ill post an update once I start to see what they are doing for me...

I don't know why is had prescribed two pain meds for you. Did he not explain when to take the Talwin and when to take the oxycodone? Do not take them together. Call your pharmicist and ask for directions and clarification. I take B12 injectables but I am from the medical community and am able to give my own injections. it means that your levels are low and the only way that your body can properly absorb Vit B12 in by injection.
Would the 1st poop test show more than worms, would the Sentry worm away cause diarrhea, would it be because she's nursing. I don't want to kick her out or take her to a kill shelter, I was going to try to find her and the babies homes. Is there something I can give the nursing mom to stop the diarrhea? Also should my other cats be fine since they had no contact?
I can see where one or two might give you fits (I happen to hate metronidazole that they gave me for diverticulitis). Talk to you doctor, let her/him know how these make you feel. There are others on the market but remember, certain anti-B's are good for certain types of bacteria. So there will be some limitations on how many options you have.

I doubt that this will change your opinion but I just wanted to clarify that I just started the anti-virals today, we've yet to determine if they're effective. Part of my question was if you could give me an idea of how long it might take, assuming they were effective, for them to have an effect on this condition?
Although symptoms of the disease vary, most women and men who have the parasite cannot tell they are infected. My dermatologist had me put an oitment in my nostrils twice a day for 7 days (which sucked) and I'm on Doryx or doxycycline at 150mg for 30 days. I'm two weeks in and it's almost undetectable. She told me to still take the full month to make sure that I really get the infetion out of my skin. The ointment in the nose was to prevent the spreading. Apparently POD is caused by a certain kind of staph in the nose perhaps?
