The doctor prescribed Flagyl (metronidazole) after taking blood, urine and stool sample. He said blood and urine test looked normal., the stool test results hasn' t been released yet. I have started to loose weight and started to feel mild pain in my lower back and legs. Is my doctor on the right track ? Is it a parasite my problem or could this be caused by something else like krohn disease or pancreatic problem ? I really appreciate your comments. Thankyou for your help.

I am finishing up 10 days of metronidazole (generic flagyl) for bv. I found out I had bv because I started having contractions. I'm 23wks today. I was told it is a very common infection and it is easily contracted. Not only I but my partner needed to be treated because it can be passed back n forth, but it is not an std. BV stands for bacterial vaginosis. It can only be treated by your physician with antibiotics. I've never heard of cold tubes used and really can't imagine that type of thing works. You need to see your doctor for flagyl, or generic name, metronidazole which is the standard of care for treating bacterial vaginosis.
I took metronidazole gel at about 20 weeks for bv and baby is fine now at about 28 weeks

Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet.
Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
My heart beat is erratic most of the time anyway but when I tried taking flagyl for campylobacter, it didn't affect my heart at all. I just got extremely sick and intestinal issues worsened. They had to switch me.

The dose for a large lab would be 500 to 750mg twice per day tor 7 days (Do not overdose). If you have not given the correct dose or metronidazole than another course of metronidazole may help.
There could be gastrointestinal parasites not covered by the metronidazole, of course, and it would be best to have your dog's stool checked.
s had problems with holding her urine. At times it will just come out. She was put on a med. from the Vet. Does anyone know of a generic brand or natural one that will do the same. I can't keep going back paying office visits everytime she needs a new med.
