I'm 25 weeks pregnant my doctor prescribed me Metronidazole Vaginal Gel for a bacteria that I have, has anyone else taken this during a pregnancy ? I'm really scared I've read about women who've lost their baby by taking this gel I'm really scared I called my OB and I asked him if its safe for the baby and he said it is but I'm really concerned about this, its my first baby too. I need Help anyone ??
I started to get bladder pressure and burning and thats why I went in to the obgyn yesterday. She prescribed me this gel and I started taking it yesterday and twice today morning and evening. Tonight when I used the tube I took it out and it had a few specks of almost blood clot looking things. Its really weird and I am not on my period nor expecting it for 6 days. Could this be a bad side effect of the gel?

A bit more detail if needed - doctor told me I had BV and prescribed the Metronidazole gel for 5 days. I finished using the gel on Sunday Oct 2. My symptoms seemed to be going away. However, starting yesterday morning, I have been experiencing some itching as well as thick, cottage-cheese like discharge. I understand it is common to develop a yeast infection after metronidazole.
I went to the obgyn last week they ran urine samples and std tests and everything was okay, I told them I’m spotting still for two weeks now three and cramping the test came back for BV so they prescribed me Metronidazole I felt way too anxious about taking it , Friday I went in for a ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound I believe and got the results today that it was fine. They now prescribed me clindamycin gel which I will pick up tomorrow due to pharmacy out of stock.
I have a yeast infection might start my period soon and im on Fluconazole and metronidazole (2 pills 72 hours apart and metrogel for 5 days once every bed time) yesterday was my first day on pill and gel and today i notiched like this blood like little clumps nothing like discharge i want to know if its normal ?
I also took metronidazole but was prescribed it vaginally! This was early in my pregnancy and I never had any issues with it.

I'd rather take it than not and experience the complications of having bv in the second trimester. I googled it first and it said bv untreated can cause premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor, and uterus infection. Just don't insert it all the way, as I do. My doctor said only about an inch.
Treatment is by antibiotics and you can use metronidazole gel or clindamycin cream for local application on vagina. They have fewer side effects. But inform your gynecologist before talking them.

Yes I have had it. Go get your self tested .. very odd that they didn't test you sew-cute. But they put you on a med for 2x a day 7 days a week metronidazole I believe is what it is called I have Google it and it said it's a class b drug and if you don't take care of the problem then it can cause problems for the baby so I just took it ... I hate being on meds while pregnant.

I was on vacation so called my GYN who suspected I had bacterial vaginosis (BV). She prescribed me a 5 day course of metronidazole gel, which I just completed. The smell seems mostly better, but the discharge is still fairly significant (enough that I need to wear a sanitary pad) and I'm concerned that the symptoms haven't gone away after treatment. When I went in on Thursday he said he thinks I have Bacterial Vaginosis and prescribed me Metronidazole Vaginal Gel - one dose before bed for 5 nights and he also mentioned I have a mucus plug. Last night was my third night on the treatment and since leaving the doctor's office I have had some bleeding and since starting this treatment I have noticed that large amount of brown discharge. The discharge looks like little blood clots leaving my body and they have not stopped.
