I have been with my fiance for 3years and ive always had UTI's before i got with him but its been more frequent since last year2010. Not only that I went to the hospital because of vaginal pain, itching, and oder. I dont have vaginal discharge tho.....They always say I have a bad urinary tract infection but now they are saying its a vaginal infection. I dont understand how i am getting UTI's so much and the vaginal infection is new.
The reason that the other poster could have been cured by cipro is that she may have had a Mycoplasma and it may have been sensitive to ciprofloxacin. But the standard treatment for bv is either metronidazole or Clindamycin. So you can try the cipro and see if it clears up but if it doesn't then if can take clindamycin I would then take probiotics after. Cipro can treat a lot of UTI's but not all. It depends on the bacteria that is causing the infection and how resistant it is.
Nevertheless, I've been testing everyday with Phinex strips and the pads for UTI's are always negative. My urine is pale yellow, crystal clear, contains no sediment, and smells like water. There are no other symptoms: frequent urination, peeing blood, itching, discharge, pain when urinating, abdominal cramps, etc.... Just the smell. I haven't eaten bacon or used soy sauce in weeks either. I am 62, went through menopause ten years ago, and have type 2 diabetes.
I have had multiple UTI's and they accure EVERYTIME I have sex. I even pee before AND after. I also was just prescribed medicine for a yeast infection. After I took my prescription, the odor didn't go away. I went back and they told me I didn't have a yeast infection. So they proceeded to test my urine for Chlamydia and gonorrhea. Those BOTH came back negative. I don't know why I still have this odor but I want it to go away!!!!!
The strains of lactobacillus in femdophilus have lots of studies behind them showing that indeed they do colonize the urogenital tract and do help to treat bv and prevent it along with yeast and uti's. You can search thru pubmed.gov for the studies if you are interested - search for bv and dr gregor reid - he's done most of the research on them and also owns the patents on them. Avoiding "bad" carbs is more useful for yeast than bv.
But ive been having flank pain is it possible i have all three UTI,BV,and small yeast infection? If so would the metronidazole for my BV cure the UTI?
This all started after a long sex encounter with an ex gf (we literally had sex 8 times in a matter of 3-4 hours). I've been tested for UTI's, chlamydia, and gonorrhea multiple times. All tests are negative. My partners state that their STD tests are negative as well. Ive had them do a culture on the discharge which showed nothing. Seems like they dont even know what it is, but its causing my life hell.
she gave me prescription to take metronidazole for a week treatment.. after that, no more bad smell coming out from my secretions but i am afraid because sometimes my vagina is itchy.. does it mean i still have std bacteria?
I came down with bv and was prescribed 2x daily metronidazole 400mg for 5 days. That seemed to clear the bv but then brough on a raging yeast infection, for which I was then prescribed 2x daily itraconazole 100 mg for 2 days. About a week later, my urinary tract is on fire and I have a sore throat. I visit the urgent care centre, and they prescribe me with 3x daily 625mg Augmentin for 7 days. I'm 3 days into the augmentin, and it looks like the bv is back.
I have taken three rounds of the single dose. Twice of Metronidazole and once for Tindamax. Then a couple weeks later Metronidazole twice a day for seven days. I saw no change in my symptoms. When I realized that I wasn't getting better I went back to my obgyn, thats when they told me again that its "inactive". I told her I didn't know what that meant and she said that it means its not moving and said its like little spores of trich.
I have taken Tinidazole, Rocephin, Doxycyline, Azithromycin, Cipro, and even have rubbed Monostat and vinegar on my penis in case of a possible yeast infection. I have been tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, HIV, UTI's, Prostatitis, nongonococcal urethritis, etc. and nothing. I have been to a urologist, in the ER, had swabs, urine samples, blood drawings, etc. and nothing. My partners have developed a fishy smell in their vaginal area and several yeast infections.
The next day he was walking sideways and we took him to the vet - they gave him Deramaxx and told us to wait and if he did not get better to go back for x-rays. We had the x-rays done yesterday and they showed deterioration of his hips and back (as expected for his age). Trouble is he is still walking sideways/off balance, his head is tilted to the right and the right side of his face is drooping - nose is running and lots of drewl that side.
Now the Keflex has caused some GI issues, which I got new medicine for today. He put me on Metronidazole and a Probiotic. These are making me a bit nauseated, but my doctor said that might happen. My doc is going to test my urine when i am done with the antibiotics and take a stool sample just to make sure the infection is gone. i am also going to see a urologist next week. This whole thing is just so scary to me. I have never had anything like this.
I am currently waiting on some results for some swabs i had done for Thrush, Chalmidia and Ghonorrea...standard testing and if they dont show anything then hopefully ill get to see a urologist.
She was diagnosed with it, gardnerella, in August and was given Metronidazole for a week. This was before I met her. She's always used condoms, but is allergic from both latex and spermicide. We became sexually active together in December. We used a latex condom with spermicide. At that point, she did not know if she was allergic to them or not. Nonetheless, a few hours later, she broke out in hives. She took benadryl, and the hives were gone in a few hours.
yeah..i guess its worse for the baby to not take it. I just was afraid of having a m/c.. I wont even take tylenol!
metronidazole or clindamycin. Either can be used with non-pregnant or pregnant women, but the recommended dosages differ. Women with BV who are HIV-positive should receive the same treatment as those who are HIV-negative. BV can recur after treatment. How can bacterial vaginosis be prevented? BV is not completely understood by scientists, and the best ways to prevent it are unknown. However, it is known that BV is associated with having a new sex partner or having multiple sex partners.
almost anything can be transmitted through the direct skin on skin and intimate contact of 2 bodies close together having sex. we also can't really test easily for viral infections in general. usually it's plain ole luck when you have something outside of the usual std's detected during an exam.
That's exactly why there is a long history of recommending dairy products, especially yogurt, either by mouth or in the vagina, for vaginal infections. (Lacto is Latin for milk, and lactobacillus was first identified in associate with milk and other dairy products.) Problem is, the types of lactobacillus in dairy products are not the same as those in the vagina, and yogurt or other dairy products just don't work; they die rapidly in the vagina and do no good.
i have also been tested for uti's. All negative. Also have tested negative for bv many times. Its been four months, and I have continual discharge (watery, clear or milky); not a little....I am always feeling wet. The urinary problem has persisted as well...at times it is difficult to get comfortable when sitting or laying down. It isn't in my bladder, more a feeling of pressure in my urethra. What am I missing here?
Metronidazole. And no they didn't even look at me just referred me to a gyno. I told her my concern for herpes and she said when I come back we could discuss it but she isn't concerned that this sounds like herpes.
my boyfriend says i taste kind of sour like buttermilk(sorry for details). i had been to the gyno and was told it was bacterial vaginosis and was prescribed antbiotics, oral and vaginal...it seemed to help for a bit but then shortly it started over again, i had repeated the vaginal antibiotics twice and like i said it seemed to help shortly.
Hello, Thanks for any help anyone has to offer. I've been suffering from an inflammed and irritated meatus for just over seven weeks now and I'm really confused as to what's causing it or how to fix it. I'm in a foreign country at the moment so access to healthcare and consequently explaining my problem in a foreign language hasn't been the easiest. For that reason, I'm writing here to see if anyone could lend some advice.
I do not know why the ER gave her Cipro. It's typically used for UTI's, but it doesn't sound like they did any testing with her to verify typical UTI causing bacteria. They should have at least considered the fact that you've been on Zithromax and are being treated for STD type symptoms. No one can say if it's related to your infection, but it sounds like you're doing the right thing by continuing your treatment with Zithro and following up with an ID Doc.
I have seen a couple of different doctors, been tested for STI's, UTI's, yeast and even herpes. My pap is consistently normal, and they basically told me that there is not really anything they could do. I'm so frustrated! It's gotten to the point where I hardly ever want to have sex, and when I do have sex, I don't enjoy it because I keep thinking about how badly I'm going to hurt after. This had never happened with my sexual partners in the past, so I don't know what it could be.
So, she put me on Metronidazole pills 2x a day for 7 days and Metronidazole gel every night injected into the vagina. Then the side effects started. Constant headache, dizziness and feeling terrible. Went off the pills after 3 days since these side effects are listed on the paperwork. But continued with the gel. One more night to go and today the burning is back again. It's never been terrible burning, just uncomfortable.
Every article on the internet has to do with Strep B in prenatal women (when it is very dangerous for the baby) and nothing about Strep B for regular women in their 40's like me :) Thanks, I'd love to hear from anyone who has ever been treated for this disease or any doctors out there.
i used monistat (with prescription)and it takes a while to cure it,for me about 4-5 days. but i have to wear loose pants for the meantime, because if you wear tight pants, it doesnt not get better,it help. i know not much help, but i hope you feel better.sometimes it really takes time to cure it.
But then I became more and more worried, and began to research it and that's when I came across this website. After reading everything I decided to go see my OBGYN. He of course tested me for Herpes, and even though I had read everything that you have all been through, and knowing that none of your tests had come back positive, I was still nervous. He also tested me for a yeast infection.
