i started itching at first for about two weeks i itched. The itching stopped and the i started having a yellow-green thick and slimy discharge that had a very pungent smell. I went to the doctor about four weeks after i realized the symptom weren't getting any better. I did a Vaginal Smear and the lab test came back that i had Trichomonas. I was placed on Sporasec for three days and the symptom did not fade. I was then placed on metronidazole 500mg.
A woman I'm having a sexual relationship with recently tested positive for chlamydia, after I informed my doctor he prescribed 500mg of metronidazole 3 times daily for 7 days. Will this drug cure chlamydia?
In October, I was diagnosed with Trich. I went to my primary care doc for a pap smear and she told me I had a strawberry cervix which indicated Trichomoniasis. She did not do a culture for trich, just diagnosed it based on me having a strawberry cervix. I did a course of 1 day of the antibiotic metronidazole. I have been in a monogamous relationship with my husband for 10 years.
Is it possible to have trich for 10 months and not know it or no symptoms? Thanks.
I do have a urology appointment, but not until 12/18. I'd like to be treated for this sooner and didn't know if it was possible. Thank you for any response.

I have had sex once with my SO since my negative panel (not before as I didn't want to put her at risk) - however, didn't know at this time that Trich was a risk. Yesterday I was medicated with 2g metronidazole after pleading with doctor to treat. - How likely a risk is Trich given brief exposure? - Do you think Trich is the cause or the mind or something else? - How successfully is Trich transmitted? (what's the chances of me having got it from 30 seconds with csw?
3)Since the lab results here will likely take a while, should I ask the doctor to treat me pre-emptively for trich with a combination of Azithromycin and Metronidazole? Is it safe to take these antibiotics with Cipro? I would like to have this resolved asap, even if its just an outside chance that these antibiotics will be effective. There is not a urologist on the island and I really would like to get rid of these symptoms asap.
I was recently diagnosed with trich and was prescribed by a nurse 500 mg 2 times a day for 5 days of metronidazole. I'm really cautious and worried about taking it because i searched and this pill has a lot of bad side effects, like making you really sick. It says that there is an alternative pill called azithromycin with less side effects. I talked to my OB about that and she said that she hasn't prescribed that to anyone who has trich.
ok, so i took metronidazole singe dose of 4 pills like advised. it was a 2000 MG script so I can get rid of Trich. I took it at 6pm lastnight I had panic attacks thinking of the side effects well at 12am, 6 hours after taking it I was vomiting because my stomach hurt. it stopped and I just have slight upset stomach today I had really bad headaches, dark urine, mettalic taste in mouth, loss of hunger idk if this is a symptom of if it panic attacks: tingling hands, racing heart, heart palps.
after taking Metronidazole pills for Trich (STD) for 5 days, I had unprotected sex. Is it possible that I could still have the std after 5 days of taking the antibiotics?
I keep reading that the prostate gland is very difficult for antibiotics to penetrate. Does anyone know if metronidazole penetrates the prostate and gets rid of trichomoniasis?
You are going to have to go back to your Dr for some testing. I doubt this would be trich again.
I was diagnosed with trich and was given metronidazole 500 mg. it was 4 pills and took all in one dose. I started treatment on Tuesday and by Thursday/ Friday all symptoms was gone. Saturday I got anxious and went ahead and had unprotected sex. The day after sex, I feel very mild itching and discomfort. Not sure what's going on due to symptoms were gone and i waited 5 days to have sex. Could it be irritation from sex? Partner was somewhat larger than normal size.
Also she was prescribed and took one thousand milligrams of metronidazole each day for seven days one month ago. Would taking metronidazole like this kill trichomoniasis? Is it possible that she has had trichomoniasis this whole time, tested negative one month ago, been treated with metronidazole one month ago, and just five days ago started showing symptoms? If this is possible is it likely or would this be a rare case?
All tests (chlamydia, gonnorhea, herpes, syphillis, hiv) came back negative, but he told me that I may have Trichmonas, but testing may or may not detect it. He prescribed metronidazole 2-250mg tablets twice daily for 10 days and suggested that my partner get treated as well. The woman that I was seeing didn't get treated because she believed she didn't have anything, because she didn't have any of the symptoms associated with trich.
my OB/ GYN prescribed me metronidazole vaginal gel for the treatment of trich. The problem is I'm 8 weeks pregnant; could this hurt the fetus?
Recently my girlfriend and I have been treated for trichomoniasis. She received a 10 day course of metronidazole(500mg 2x a day) which she completed. A few days after I was given a 1 time 2g dose of the same medication. I know all over the internet says to wait 7 days after the treatment has finished but both of us had a few drinks and she performed unprotected oral sex on me 5 days after I took the 2g dose.
I am a 40yo female, married for 16 years. I was diagnosed with an asymptomatic trich infection during a routine ob check while pregnant (cervical inflammation) about 12 years ago. Back in Jan. of this year, I was diagnosed again with trich with mild cramping, spotting, burning and itching. I was treated for the infection when I was pregnant, but my husband was not.
(in case of gon) I was given doxycycline 100 mg twice a day for 7 days, 1 gm of metronidazole and the same regimen he took for the gon. Should this cover all bases. Do we need further treatment. Do we need retest? I should note that the day before treatment of gon, one side testicle swelling occurred. What do you think we should do further. Should we worry about hsv2?
did come back HIV negative though) . In the meantime She put me on metronidazole for seven days as well as tetrazol and Valtrex (to be "safe"). I have had unprotected sex so all of the above are possibilities. Basically, I have finished the metro and tetra and still have a couple days of Valtrex left. There is less pain (it was real bad for a couple days), but symptoms are still present and the red area is still looking "weepy" and feeling swollen.
We can't give you medication advice, but I don't see why you would still have Trich. I would suggest having Dr look for other possible causes at this point and rule out Trich for the moment.
Seen by GP and said stress. Cont to have the irritation and urge to urinate. Went to urologist and was checked for Chlymdia and Gonnorehea. All neg. Checked out visually and he said normal. Had the same problems. Urolgist said stress of incident and said that the irritations are from diet and stress. Asked about trich? Still have the same problems of the irritations of urethra and the tip and urge to urinate. Went to ur again and took a urine samp again and said normal.
When this treatment did not work, I was given a swab test for chlamydia and gonorrhea, and tested positive for chlamydia. At this point I was given 1g azithromax and what ended up being 40 or so days of doxy. (I went back to the doc during this time.) After this failed, I tried several alternative remedies which did not work. I returned to the doctor and was given 10 days of metrandiazole at 500mg b.i.d.
I went to the doctor and got a prescription for metronidazole, 500mg bid for 7 days, however only managed to take about 750mg/day for 5 days because of the headaches, dizziness, and chest pain/occasional heart skipping (is this side effect in my mind?) Anyway, after 1-2 days of starting taking the medicine I was feeling decreased symptoms of tingling/pain in the head of my penis.
He also informed me I could not have sex for at least two weeks, because if my boyfriend has somehow recieved Trich from me, he could probably pee it out without any sexual contact for this period of time. Is my doctor correct? I have been given an antibiodic called Metronidazole, which I take twice a day. Will this be effective? And how long do you think it will take for ths to clear up? Should my partner also be tested to stop any further chance of me catching this again?
