I went to immediate care and they diagnosed me with a uti but they also tested my urine for trich which came back negative. The doctor treated me for trich with one weeks worth of metronidazole based off of my symptoms. 2 days after finishing my metronidazole I feel the symptoms of my trich returning. I sent my doctor a message through the portal saying they came back but she basically said I’m a liar bc no one fails treatment for trich so I must have reinfected myself with a new partner.
I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV?

the medication you took is pretty effective for trich. you've also tested negative for trich too so no reason to still think trich could be a cause.
Hi I have been diagnosed with trich and doctor precribe me metronidazole 500 nge 4 pills to take one time. I haven't have sexual intercouse ever since I went to the doctor . Symptoms come back after a week and went back there and did lab test again and positive trich again . So this time the doctor prescribe me clydamycine to take 2 times a day for 7 days . My concern is I heard clydamycin is for bacteria vaginosis and I was wondering if it will not work again .
I took the 1shot dose of metronidazole monday. i had sex unprotected friday and sunday.
I have taken three rounds of the single dose. Twice of Metronidazole and once for Tindamax. Then a couple weeks later Metronidazole twice a day for seven days. I saw no change in my symptoms. When I realized that I wasn't getting better I went back to my obgyn, thats when they told me again that its "inactive". I told her I didn't know what that meant and she said that it means its not moving and said its like little spores of trich.
In October, I was diagnosed with Trich. I went to my primary care doc for a pap smear and she told me I had a strawberry cervix which indicated Trichomoniasis. She did not do a culture for trich, just diagnosed it based on me having a strawberry cervix. I did a course of 1 day of the antibiotic metronidazole. I have been in a monogamous relationship with my husband for 10 years.
When I found out that I had trich, I bought Metronidazole and took 2grams (1 dosage) of it. Metronidazole made me feel really sick! Anyway, after a week I realized that I still had trich. Exactly the same symptoms were still there. So, I took Tinidazole.. a 2g dose. When will this take effect? I took tinidazole after I had dinner and went to sleep right away so that I won't feel the side effects of which I had when I took Metronidazole.
The recommended management in such cases is a longer course of either metronidazole (e.g. 500 mg 3 times daily for 5-7 days) or a few days treatment with tinidazole (Tindamax). In addition, your current partner needs to be treated, even if asymptomatic. Since you might have a slightly resistant strain, it would be reasonable for him to also receive several days of metronidazole or tinidazole, instead of a single dose. But these treatments should take care of it.
I've had Trich std for 6 years, I was given medications from health care providers twice but I still have the symptoms, discharge, urine smells bad and I even had blood in my urine once. I have only tested positive 6 years ago, when my ex wife gave it to me. After that one time, I never tested positive although I have the symptoms. hi,i have been diagnosed with trich about 2 years ago after having it for at least a year,got treated with single dose of metronidazole,the symptoms seemed to clear out but came back with the next period.i couldnt get reinfected in the meanwhile. Next time about a year later still having the smelly discharge i took flagyl. The symsymptoms disappeared for another 4 months and came back again. It is possible i have been reinfected somewhere along the way.
I had an unprotected vaginal sex exposure almost three weeks ago. I have had tests for Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea -which came back negative. I have no signs of herpes and was tested for that as well. My only symptom I've had is a mild discomfort at the tip of my penis. Buring during urination is very slight, not much to speak of. I recently masturbated just to see if there would be any pain - there wasn't.
Now after returning for a recheck appt. I knew it wasn’t gone but I have to take 4 metronidazole once a day for 7 days!!! Is this even going to work?
He gave me 1000 mg of Azithromycin for Chlymedia and 2000 mg of Metronidazole for Trich. My friend is going to get tested for trich tommorow at Planned Parenthood. The doc at the clinic also said that if she doesn't have anything I don't have anything (and made sure I understood this by repeating it a few times, which I already knew), and mentioned that it could also be all in my head from stress and guilt.

1) How common in women is trich.
how soon after after taking 2000mg of metronidazole for trich can i have unprotected sex without infecting partner??

Thanks for your answer. I just looked at my lab results. From my last visit, directly reading from it, there were no yeast or trich. Clue cells were more than or equal to 20%, moderate wbc count, positive whiff test, and my pH was 6.0. This is why I'm confused. If the wet mount doesn't indicate trich, why is my wbc count still elevated? I've been given metronidazole for the millionth time this year for both trich and this last time for BV, but it still didn't help.
I am having the same problem but i had been diagnossed with trichomonas in december I was perscribed metronidazole, in two weeks went for my follow up and the obgyn told me i still had it and that she would perscribe me tinidazole after i took it my symptoms were gone and every thing so before i went for my next follow up i had gotten a second opinion and they sad i was clear of all stds, so the very next day i go back to my obgyn and she just called me today and said that i still had trich so s
What would be a possible course of treatment for the Metronidazole-resistant Trich? I read, that perhaps Tinidazole would be the next choice of drug? If yes, what dosage should be effective? Question 5: I tried to comb through the net to find anything about after how much time the symptoms of Trich should start disappearing when treated with drugs? (Non of the countless sites mention that at all). Thank you very much in advance for your help.
2 days after that I was put on a 7 day course of Metronidazole for a tooth infection. About a week after the pills I started to get itchy and sore down below plus lots of abdominal pain so I went for a std test.
I had finished the course of pills for about a week before the test.
Would the Metronidazole have effected the results???? As I am now feeling bad down below again!!
First of all, thank your partner for telling you. Unfortunately, some do not. If she had trich. metronidazole is highly effective.
As for your continued discomfort, treatment without an examination is not such a good thing. The treatment you received would be good for a bladder infection but not for the STDs most likely to be present, nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) or chlamydia.
So we go to the doc today for a follow up and can you guess what she says?????? The dead trich she thought she seen most likely where sperm. Wth I was happy and mad at the same time. One should definetly not believe the 1st thing somebody tells you about trich. All test negative.
and she said it was an infection that got into her kidneys. They gave her metronidazole which is used for trich but not kidney infections that I know of. Is there a reason they would prescribe this medication for an infection of the kidneys or am I wrong for being suspicious. We don't have sex for months and she is always out and coming home late.
