Avatar m tn As you have already discovered, antibiotics don't work well for infections of the upper sinuses, and recent reports are that they don't really work at all. Saline rinses don't work for upper sinuses, because of gravity, but the Flip Turn Sinus Flush defeats gravity, and as you'll see by the comments, it works http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Its for genital infections. A doctor prescribe it to me because i was having heavy discharge. Am hesitant to take it bacause he did not check what am really having.
Avatar f tn i knew it was for infections but he didn't test me for any
Avatar f tn I had a cough and congestion for about 3 weeks before the doctor was able to diagnose me with a sinus infection. He gave me 875mg of Amoxicillin-twice a day for 10 days along with ZyrtecD and Mucinex. I finished the antibiotic and one of the others at the same time. Two days later, I was still coughing--post nasal drip. I had finished all the meds so I bought some more Mucinex and started that again. In another 2 days I was still had post nasal drep so I started Claritin.
876847 tn?1240239287 Hello, Routinely vibramycin(tetracycline) is not prescribed for sinus infections as the antibiotics of choice for sinusitis are usually penicillins, macrolides, fluorquinolones or cepahalosporins. However if you want to take tetracycline antibiotics, then pls inform your PCP about it before taking it. I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.

Avatar m tn Hi, I battle lot's of infections, mainly sinus/upper respiratory, almost monthly, my wbc is not high but always elevated. Was sent to hematology, but clinic only deals with blood cancers, which I do not have. Antibiotics work, Amoxicillin, Bactrim, etc.... but infections always returns. What physician or specialty clinic, deals with chronic infections ? So, I can discuss with my primary doctor for referral, thanks.
Avatar f tn So just a quick question for all the women that have taken this before for bacterial vaginosis. So I started this a couple days ago and today I had a heavy amount of sticky discharge. This isnt normal for me. So I was wondering if this has happend to anyone else. Is it just the antibiotic clearing the infection.
Avatar f tn I had my tooth removed 2 days ago and have been sufferning (before extraction) with a cronich tooth infection that was only discovered by my new dentist as he drilled abit further into my tooth than the last dentist, he then told me that my tooth was dead, the infetion had killed it and he wanted to save the tooth.
Avatar f tn org/ If your doctor is willing to test you for the co-infections that you can get along with Lymes disease then that is great. Otherwise you may want to find a Lyme literate or LLMD near you at the link I gave you. Coinfections are Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis, Anaplasmosis, and Bartonella and also you can get Mycoplamsa pneumonia and other Mycoplasmas. There are PCR tests for these coinfections at IgeneX and some other labs have them as well, and usually are treated differently.
Avatar n tn My doctor prescribed me metronidazole because of my yeast infection but I'm really "iffy" about taking it because I don't want to harm my baby. Have any of u guys taken metronidazole while pregnant ?
Avatar n tn Which tooth was removed? If it was an upper tooth, you may have a sinus infection possibly and need antibiotic treatment.
Avatar f tn vaginalis is the predominant species. Similar to what happens in many other biofilm-related infections, standard antibiotics, like metronidazole, are unable to fully eradicate the vaginal biofilm, which can explain the high recurrence rates of BV. Furthermore, antibiotic therapy can also cause a negative impact on the healthy vaginal microflora. These issues sparked the interest in developing alternative therapeutic strategies.
Avatar f tn I have it I just wasn't sure because I've had to use it for other infections like my tooth? So I was just confused.....
Avatar f tn the brownish/or blood discharge went away, but now I'm not sure if I have a yeast infection or if it is still the bv? there seems to be alot of discharge still its not brownish or blood anymore it's yellowish-clear but it itches down there. My period is late and it is NEVER late. I have always had regular on time periods, never late or early, never spotting except 4 when I had something wrong. Doesn't the BV medicine can cause yeast infections right?
Avatar m tn The dose for metronidazole is 20 to 25mg per kg. The dose for a large lab would be 500 to 750mg twice per day tor 7 days (Do not overdose). If you have not given the correct dose or metronidazole than another course of metronidazole may help. There could be gastrointestinal parasites not covered by the metronidazole, of course, and it would be best to have your dog's stool checked.
485536 tn?1209178017 For the past five or six years of my life, I have been getting sinus infections. I get them, am treated sometimes for a week, and sometimes, all the way up to three weeks. I usually feel better for about two weeks, when my symptoms present again, and I am told I have another infections. I typically get seven or eight a year. I have mild allergies to dust and grass, which I receive allergy shots for.
Avatar f tn My husband has been sick with sinus infections, fevers and over all body aches for 5 months. He has been on anibiotics 4 times (first three was Avalox and now Amoxicillan). It doesn't seem to want to clear up. He has had a chronic cough that keeps him up at night and has had x-rays of the chest which were clear. It just occured to us that a tooth that has been bothering him for about a year and a half may be related.
209987 tn?1451935465 lol I have been suffering with sinus infections for most of my life...so I go through a lot of sinus rinses. lol I know I'm allergic to snow mould...but haven't found anything yet to relieve the symptoms. Anyone know a good natural antihistamine? This lung infection has been clinging to me since the start of December...the oregano oil seems to get rid of it for only a few days at a time...actually, I guess I should say that as soon as the infection goes away, I stop taking it...

Avatar f tn No that medicine is for bacterial infections it would not cause a false positive. They do give it to pregnant women though! I would call your dr and confirm with a blood test.

Avatar m tn Im 20 years old and was diagnosed in December of 07 with MS and have noticed constant sinus infections on an almost monthly basis. Does anyone have any information as to why this could be? I live in the lower new york area maybe its my location? Is it normal?
Avatar n tn I was treated with antibiotics (Augmentin) appx. 4-5 weeks ago for a very bad sinus infection. I felt better and then appx 2 weeks ago I developed more symptoms, dental (teeth) pain, headaches, extreme tiredness, ear congestion, and finally went back to the doctor. He said that my throat glands were swollen and gave me a different anibiotic. I have been on the antibiotics for 4plus full days.
Avatar f tn Hello Katie, Your problem sounds familiar. I had sinus surgery last year to clean out blockage and infections. I developed pain on the roof of my mouth a few weeks ago and went back to the ENT doctor. He gave me a mouthwash and when I used it the pain went, but it came back again when I stopped using it. A couple of days later I got a toothache in a top molar, a really bad one. The dentist xrayed it and couldn't find anything and blamed it on my sinuses.
