Avatar f tn I also had a question for you. How long will you be taking the Metronidazole and what tests did your doctor run in diagnosing you with BV? The reason I ask is because I have symptoms very similar to BV however every Dr. I go to suggest that I don't have it.
Avatar m tn I'd wonder if this is PID if everything is coming back negative. I'd think ovarian cysts, endometriosis, etc., are more likely. Has she had an ultrasound or anything?
1215490 tn?1319837441 I just saw a doctor today because I am worried too as my fiance and I have done EVERYTHING possible to concieve (I had a horrible episode of pid in the past which sent me to the ER and i was told i might have trouble getting pregnant, as pid can lead to fertility problems) However...
Avatar n tn s up to me whether or not I wanted to be treated for PID as I realize it would involve an injection, as well as doxycycline and metronidazole for two weeks. I just want to be sure all my bases are covered to ensure that any kind of bad bacteria affecting my reproductive organs is gone. The fact that I also had bacterial vaginosis makes me think I just go forward with this PID treatment. Everything I read is so confusing.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have been diagnosed with PID today as I was suffering from constant lower abdominal pain for the last week. I have had this pain before, for shorter periods, and I am not sure for how long I have had this disease. I have not been feeling well for about a year, with regular pain stomach, digestion problems and other symptoms that were just diagnosed as "stress" by the doctors.
Avatar n tn I have read that untreated BV has been linked to cervicitis which can then turn into PID. After everything I have read, you only got treated for chlamydia. Usually, if they test you for gonorrhea, you are tested for chlamydia as well because it is not uncommon to have both at the same time. But doxycycline does not treat gonorrhea nor BV. That it is treatment for chlamydia. Did you go to a gynecologist or a general practioner?
Avatar m tn I tested positive for Chlamydia after having it for 2 months in my body. My doctor prescribed me Azithromycin tablets to take as one dose and then gave me an injection of Ceftriaxone and prescribed me Doxycycline and Metronidazole after I told him I was still having severe abdominal pain. However, my doctor said that after the pelvic exam and ultrasound, he did not suspect that I had PID and that a laparoscopy would be more definitive to diagnose it.
Avatar m tn i am being treated for PID, thrush and bacterial vaginosis. ive had a full std check and awaiting the results i have a follow up appointment in 2 weeks.
1308690 tn?1273696411 Intravaginal clindamycin cream is preferred in case of allergy or intolerance to metronidazole. Intravaginal metronidazole gel can be considered for patients who do not tolerate systemic metronidazole, but patients allergic to oral metron-idazole should not be administered intravaginal metronidazole. I do not know what pills you are on but If you have an allergy or intolerance to metronidazole then the insurance company would most likely place you on Intravaginal clindamycin cream.
Avatar n tn I am about to finish metronidazole 750mg x 7 days. i am wondering how long it should take for all symptoms to be gone?
Avatar f tn I only have access to oral antibiotics so I am thinking of taking levofloxacin 500 mg for 14 days with metronidazole 500 mg twice daily for 14 days. Is this a better alternative to one dose of 400 mg of cefixime with metronidazole?
Avatar f tn I have never had sex but I have done urine cultures were they test for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Trichomoniasis. Do you think it’s PID? I know I should go to the doctors but I’m tired of spending money to get the same result.
Avatar f tn Oh I forgot to mention that my bf was put on docy too for the chlamydia that he thought I had even tho he didnt test me for it. Sooo now after this last time that it came back I am having real bad problems with cramping and I'm frustrated that this horrible disease keeps coming back. So my question is, has anyone had their PID recurr over and over again or can this be maybe trich and since my bf wasnt treated with the right meds for it he keeps giving it to me?
Avatar f tn they examined me and took some blood test and sent me home (give me some antiboics doxycycline and metronidazole) 4th May: I woke up and i was bleeding that much and in that much pain i was rushed back to the hossi. they examied me again etc and kept me in over night. In the morning i got my results back ive got Chlamydia and Pelvic Infecton. I was so shocked i have never slept around but since me and my fella got gether ive never been tested and he hasnt been tested for 3 years.
Avatar n tn My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin, spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.
Avatar m tn if they see anything suspicious for gonorrhea or chlamydia, they can send it off to the lab for confirmatory testing. there are also bedside tests they can do for bv if they don't have a microscope in their clinic to use. you don't leave that clinic until they've properly tested you for infections vaginally!!!!!
Avatar n tn He has told me he was trying but not really wit his ex of 5yrs but nothing and had no sex for about 2yrs until we meet and now we have been together 2 yrs but only been trying for the past 7months and nothing yet. He thinks I might of had a misscarage about 2 months ago but it would of been only a moth if I did because I had major pain and was bleeding and it was not my period and was only for a day or two. So idk what to think.I am 31yrs old and he is 37yrs old.
Avatar n tn I went back to the ER and after 6 hours they told me it was a yeast infection and gave me medications(metronidazole and diflucan) for BV and Trich and YI. I took the medications as prescribed and cleared within 5 days just to have the same symptoms linger on. I visited planned parenthood and the doctor took swabs and cultures and looked at each one with a microscope and saw trichomonas and gave me more metronidazole to give to my partner as well.
Avatar n tn I've been reading the posts about chlamydia. If we can't have it for three or four years, for example, without knowing it, how is it that it causes PID and infertility? Wouldn't it need to be around for years to cause these complications? Thanks!
Avatar m tn Hi!just looking for some advice! I recently had vaginal swabs taken which tested positive for Bacterial Vaginitis and Chlamydia!!! I took the relevant antibiotics (Zithromax 1g and a course of metronidalzole for a week). I finished these three and a half weeks ago. I should prob point out that my diagnosis was quite a surprise as I wasn't experiencing any symptoms. However, about a week ago I started to experience 'symptoms'!
Avatar f tn ve had no testing come back + for chlamydia or gonorrhea to even think you have PID but they treated you for both of them anyways. At this point the best you can do is to continue to follow up with a gyn as needed after the holidays after you've given the most current medications time to work. not unusual for bv to come back /linger and need multiple treatment.
511455 tn?1224183831 I suspect I had it for a while before I got treated for it (first time I was on antibiotics - Metronidazole - was the end of March of this year). After being on it for 1 week, the symptoms of it stopped so I assumed I was fine and it was gone. However I did still have it/got it again and was then treated for it with the same medicine in April...probably a 3 or 4 week gap between being on it. Again, after I finished treatment I thought I was fine.
Avatar n tn Oh, no you cant take any antibiotics for PID. PID is treated immediately with antibiotics for at least 1 week. Sometimes PID is caused by more than one type of bacteria and a combination of antibiotics that are effective against a range of bacteria are usually prescribed. PID may require hospitalization.
Avatar n tn Mark my words, someday the medical community will catch on that the organism we treat for in PID, need to be treated for in the partner.
Avatar f tn I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV? Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!
