Avatar m tn Ok. I have been on and off antibiotics for mrsa for the last 2 months. Mostly Bactrim. Problem is the mrsa keeps returning. I have had 2 negative nare and armpit swaps. But they say it's still mrsa and the infection keeps coming back. Anyways. I continue decolonization and abx treatment. But I started to notice my stools getting loose. Then today I went to have the runs and all that came out was a little mucous and blood. Blood was bright red. No stool. Worried about c diff.

Avatar f tn I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV? Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks!
494623 tn?1278279352 I have a Friend in Canada who has been on Minocycline for her RA for years and says she could not function without it,I asked my Doctor to prescribe this for me but he says it's not proven to be effective so wouldn't give me it !!! I have read that it IS effective not as a cure but by killing the bacteria that may be causing the RA symptoms. I am totally convinced it was the MRSA infection that caused my RA in the first place as I was absolutely fine before that happened ....
Avatar m tn I have also found out that there is a salve or medicated pad called Medihoney, used for MRSA and general wound care for both humans and pets. Have you heard of that?

Avatar f tn Metronidazole can cause diarrhea as a side effect. But it may be also working on the infective cause of your dog's illness in the first place, so don't stop it without speaking to your vet. Meanwhile keep your dog hydrated. If you can find an unflavoured electrolyte drink like Pedialyte that would be great. Plain water would do for a short time but Pedialyte would be better.
Avatar m tn My heart beat is erratic most of the time anyway but when I tried taking flagyl for campylobacter, it didn't affect my heart at all. I just got extremely sick and intestinal issues worsened. They had to switch me.
Avatar n tn For the past ten days I have been taking Metronidazole (Two 250mg oral tablets, twice daily). I took my last pills lastnight around 10:30 pm. My question is, would it be okay for me to consume alcohol on Saturday night? I know my pharmacist told me to absolutely stay away from alcohol while I was taking the pills because I would vomit alot, and he said most people wait a couple of days after they've finished before they drink. Im just wondering if two days is enough time?
1472764 tn?1287588186 Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.
Avatar f tn I had to take it last week for 5 days. Everything is great with baby. It does say that there is no harm to take it however I understand your concern. I'm 27w 5d I'm sure I would've been me hesitant at 6 weeks.
Avatar n tn ) In a host surface a person can be a carrier of MRSA (colonized) and not even be aware, therefore spreading contimination quite unwittingly. Unfortunately, a carrier can host MRSA indefinately. MRSA can live on non-host surfaces for days, weeks, months depending on the environmental circumstances.
Avatar n tn of 07, came down with a MRSA infection, was treated for 30 days with cubisun. Towards the end of the treatment, swelling in my neck took me on a trip to the ENT doctor, who in turn sent me to a Endo, who came up with Hashimoto`s( under active thyroid).
Avatar f tn and without visible sores she could not possibly have MRSA. They have also told her there is no test for MRSA. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THE DOCTORS STATEMENTS ARE TRUE AND ACCURATE.
Avatar n tn My fiancé has MRSA, he got it from a spider bite after being quarantined in the hospital for several month 2 years ago, they thought it was gone but he got an attack a few months ago and it started going to his kidney. He was in the hospital several months this time and when he left they told him he will be on antibiotics the rest of his life and needed monthly blood tests.
Avatar f tn Hello, Staph infection and MRSA can be transmitted by close contactlike skin contact or through inhaled air. MRSA stands for methicillin resistant Staph aureus. It is a bacteria rather than a disease. Those who have MRSA are at risk of transmitting it to someone else.It is possible to have staph or MRSA infection through sex(fluids) only if you have an unbroken skin or through inhaled air. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.
