Avatar m tn The sinus flush part was for the left side infection. Yes, continue with antibiotics for the dental infection, as those follow the usual medical model for infections.

808815 tn?1254301881 That sounds like the drug company or pharmacy is merely covering their #ss. For the most part, the people who developed SS while on metronidazole were also on another "serotoninergic" (raises levels of serotonin) drug. The greatest threat to your health is the abcess. It is prudent to be aware of all potential side effect or adverse effects of a med, but that doesn't mean the med should be avoided.
Avatar f tn So just a quick question for all the women that have taken this before for bacterial vaginosis. So I started this a couple days ago and today I had a heavy amount of sticky discharge. This isnt normal for me. So I was wondering if this has happend to anyone else. Is it just the antibiotic clearing the infection.
Avatar f tn I had my tooth removed 2 days ago and have been sufferning (before extraction) with a cronich tooth infection that was only discovered by my new dentist as he drilled abit further into my tooth than the last dentist, he then told me that my tooth was dead, the infetion had killed it and he wanted to save the tooth.
Avatar m tn Male, 38. For the past decade or so I have a recurring bad breath issue and doctors and dentists have failed to trace the cause. My dental/mouth hygiene is good, I don't have current digestive problems (did have an ulcer in the past but that seems unrelated) and I tested negative for H. Pylori. I don't have tonsil stones either. Despite testing negative for H.
Avatar m tn My problem started 6 months ago when I was on an antibiotic (metronidazole) for 1 week. The antibiotic did its job but caused this condition called "hairy tongue" as a side effect that seems permanent. My tongue looks like it has a white coating of thousands of little elongate papillae. Almost like my once healthy pink tonge now has a 1970's shag-carpet growing on it. These little papillae act like a sponge to trap all sorts of bacteria and food particles.
Avatar f tn org/ If your doctor is willing to test you for the co-infections that you can get along with Lymes disease then that is great. Otherwise you may want to find a Lyme literate or LLMD near you at the link I gave you. Coinfections are Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis, Anaplasmosis, and Bartonella and also you can get Mycoplamsa pneumonia and other Mycoplasmas. There are PCR tests for these coinfections at IgeneX and some other labs have them as well, and usually are treated differently.
Avatar n tn My doctor prescribed me metronidazole because of my yeast infection but I'm really "iffy" about taking it because I don't want to harm my baby. Have any of u guys taken metronidazole while pregnant ?
Avatar f tn vaginalis is the predominant species. Similar to what happens in many other biofilm-related infections, standard antibiotics, like metronidazole, are unable to fully eradicate the vaginal biofilm, which can explain the high recurrence rates of BV. Furthermore, antibiotic therapy can also cause a negative impact on the healthy vaginal microflora. These issues sparked the interest in developing alternative therapeutic strategies.
Avatar f tn I have it I just wasn't sure because I've had to use it for other infections like my tooth? So I was just confused.....
Avatar f tn the brownish/or blood discharge went away, but now I'm not sure if I have a yeast infection or if it is still the bv? there seems to be alot of discharge still its not brownish or blood anymore it's yellowish-clear but it itches down there. My period is late and it is NEVER late. I have always had regular on time periods, never late or early, never spotting except 4 when I had something wrong. Doesn't the BV medicine can cause yeast infections right?
Avatar m tn The dose for metronidazole is 20 to 25mg per kg. The dose for a large lab would be 500 to 750mg twice per day tor 7 days (Do not overdose). If you have not given the correct dose or metronidazole than another course of metronidazole may help. There could be gastrointestinal parasites not covered by the metronidazole, of course, and it would be best to have your dog's stool checked.
1726450 tn?1316282511 They also prescribe Cipro before dental work for us that are decompensated and are prone to infections which can be very serious for us. And cause us to be hospitalized and put on IV antibiotics.
Avatar f tn No that medicine is for bacterial infections it would not cause a false positive. They do give it to pregnant women though! I would call your dr and confirm with a blood test.
Avatar f tn If amoxicillin is not effective, switching to clindamycin+metronidazole may help clear dental infection.
1245078 tn?1268578722 Are you on the pill? I used to have chronic yeast infections for years in my early twenties. Like you, I followed my doctor's advice and was very careful but nothing helped until I stopped taking the pill (it has something to do with the artificial estrogen). So if that could be the reason, you might want to talk to your doctor about alternative methods of contraception.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone - for the past 2 years I've been getting a bv infection every two or three months. This is not always directly related to sex, although it is common for me to have worse symptoms after intercourse. I talked to my gyno about it, and she recommended daily OTC probiotics which I have been taking for a couple of weeks now, antibiotics work but i only get temporary relief. I was wondering if anyone else has/had frequent bv infections like I do and what you do to prevent them.
Avatar f tn I have had yeast and bv infections my whole pregnancy. I just finished up another batch of metronidazole this week. Antibiotics can cause yeast infections in some women as well so have your doc prescribe flucanazole (spell check) to take after the metronidazole. It will most likely be a 7 day treatment. Mine got so bad this third trimester my va jay jay was swollen for a week. I am due with twins on Monday by c section.
Avatar m tn I've had Trich std for 6 years, I was given medications from health care providers twice but I still have the symptoms, discharge, urine smells bad and I even had blood in my urine once. I have only tested positive 6 years ago, when my ex wife gave it to me. After that one time, I never tested positive although I have the symptoms. What is the long term effects and what can I do to finally get rid of this std? Will a penicillin shot get rid of it?
Avatar f tn Went in for my normal check up and doc told me I have a bacterial Infection, She Prescribed me "Metronidazole". I was reading up on it and it says not to be used during pregnancy! Kind of worries me, any of u ladies ever had this stuff prescribed to u?
