The doctor prescribed me a mega dose of the metronidazole and said I should feel better in 24 hours. I did NOT feel better in 24 hrs I waited a week because everything online kept telling me the symptoms could take a week to subside but when they didn’t I called my doctor and she prescribed me another mega dose. This one did absolutely nothing but make my symptoms worse my cervix hurt so bad.
well i been diagnosed with trichomonas vaginalis and the doctor gave me 2 grams of metronidazole as a single dose and a vaginal cream called clotrimazole (3 days). but since i used the metronidazole i had dark urine, i had and upset stomach i couldn't eat or drink anything because i will throw up. it's been 2 day and i don't have the upset stomach but i still have the dark urine how long is it gonna take before the dark uring goes away?
I went to the obgyn last week they ran urine samples and std tests and everything was okay, I told them I’m spotting still for two weeks now three and cramping the test came back for BV so they prescribed me Metronidazole I felt way too anxious about taking it , Friday I went in for a ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound I believe and got the results today that it was fine. They now prescribed me clindamycin gel which I will pick up tomorrow due to pharmacy out of stock.
(dipped the paper strip into the urine and checked the color change). The Dr. said based on the above narrative and urinalysis, she assumed Clymidia, and treated me with two single dose antibiotics.
I continued to have very mild pain so went to a GP. Who did the swab test, and also treated me with a 10 day course of antibiotics. The tests then came back negative for both Clymidia, and Ghonoreeha.
Now, 2 months after the unprotected intercourse, 1 month after the 10 day antibiotic treatment.
The doctor prescribed Flagyl (metronidazole) after taking blood, urine and stool sample. He said blood and urine test looked normal., the stool test results hasn' t been released yet. I have started to loose weight and started to feel mild pain in my lower back and legs. Is my doctor on the right track ? Is it a parasite my problem or could this be caused by something else like krohn disease or pancreatic problem ? I really appreciate your comments. Thankyou for your help.
chlamydia, and they came back negative. My urologist checked my urine and did a rectal exam. He said the urine looked fine, and the prostate only seemed a little mushy. He says go away for a month and if you still feel bad, I'll scope you. What is the test for NGU? He never mentioned it.
Ive been to the city clinic, twice. They test the basics (they lost my urine once), and they dont test for Trich in men, they just treat.
Taking metronidazole is the right thing to do. Better to over treat than miss infection.
You are correct, PAP smears are not particualrly reliable for dianosis of trichomoniasis.
clear urethral discharge (minimal but still present), stinging at tip of penis and just inside urethra, stinging when passing urine. I received unprotected oral sex, but did not have penetrative sex.
I have had two separate examinations in which urine and swab tests were carried out (for chlamydia, gon, urethritis). On both occasions they came back negative. I also had blood tests (for HSV, HIV and syphilis), these also came back negative.
That is not helpful and compounds problems. Where I live, they check the urine culture at the office and then test it again the next day and often they find the bacteria the second time they look. If you feel burning as the end of your urine stream comes to an end (does that make sense?)-- that's likely a uti. Your doctor should do this for you (look for the bacteria to grow)-- have never heard of having to independently test. that's hard!
8-31-2011- I went to Std clinic where I was given Metronidazole and I left a urine sample. I had made the appointment one week earlier and that was the earliest that they could see me and since I still had symptoms I made sure to go back. I stopped taking Ciprofloxacin on this day, per the advice of the Doctor at the clinic, and started taking Metronidazole twice a day for 7 days which I am currently taking.
i went back to my GP and he gave me another round of azithromycin 1g, 2g metronidazole and a 10-day course of doxycycline, 200mg a day in a single dose. again i finished the course, but the symptoms won't go away. he gave me another round of azithromycin 1g. after that i had another 10-day doxycycline course together with 2g metronidazole. still the symptoms are there.
2 days after that I was put on a 7 day course of Metronidazole for a tooth infection. About a week after the pills I started to get itchy and sore down below plus lots of abdominal pain so I went for a std test.
I had finished the course of pills for about a week before the test.
Would the Metronidazole have effected the results???? As I am now feeling bad down below again!!
I started to get bladder pressure and burning and thats why I went in to the obgyn yesterday. She prescribed me this gel and I started taking it yesterday and twice today morning and evening. Tonight when I used the tube I took it out and it had a few specks of almost blood clot looking things. Its really weird and I am not on my period nor expecting it for 6 days. Could this be a bad side effect of the gel?
hello, I have recently had a urine test and tested positive for ngu, been prescribed metronidazole, ciprofloxacin & prescribed myself with doxycycline tablets after research on the web. 1 day after i start medication I notice a rash in the head of my penis, it doesn't itch or irritate me, If I hadn't of seen it I wouldn't of knew it was there? can this be a side effect of by medication, or any other sti?
I am Male 42, from Pakistan I had unprotected sex vaginal and slight anal penetration once (big mistake ) with a sex worker on 27 Sept 13, on 29 Sept I felt severe itching in my groins and irritation in anus. I took 750 mg Azithromycin 29 sept night followed by 250 mg Azithromycin with 400 mg cefixime on 30 Sept morning. I waited for 24 hours The symptoms didn't resolve rather I started having severe irritation after peeing.
Been having this red meatus lips (especially after masturbation) for 1.5 years now. All tests negative (tested urine twice; even once after a prostate massage; put a swab in my glans and brought it to the hospital...
ALL negative.)Tried Azitromycin, itraconazole with miconazole, daktarin, ...

ve had Trich std for 6 years, I was given medications from health care providers twice but I still have the symptoms, discharge, urine smells bad and I even had blood in my urine once. I have only tested positive 6 years ago, when my ex wife gave it to me. After that one time, I never tested positive although I have the symptoms. What is the long term effects and what can I do to finally get rid of this std? Will a penicillin shot get rid of it? I've taken nothing but pills in the past.
(a) Cipro–3 wks, still WBC in urine/EPS, (b) Septra–6 dys–rash-changed to doxy, (c) Doxycycline–3 wks, urine normal, STIs neg, but still had pain, and (d) Azithromycin–5 dys, urine normal.
Still have intermitt. redness at penis opng, periodic stinging while urinating, and intermitt. low back/buttock pain. Some days, urinate every hour. Been abstinent!? Slowly improving but discomfort impairs concentration.
(1) Could there STILL be low-grade bacterial infect in the prostate an EPS might find?
The urine tests for STDs are just as good as the far less pleasant urethral swabs - believe them, they are good tests. In addition, if you have persistent symptoms after being treated sequentially with metronidazole, then tinidazole, you do not have trich. Could you be paying far more attention to yourself than the past. That is one possibility, the other is that something else is going on. You need not worry about STDs at this time.
I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV?
Hope someone can shed some light on this.
