Sooo... I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV? Hope someone can shed some light on this.

1. May 10: Penicillin VK 500mg tab (6 days) and Metronidazole 250mg tab (7 days) 4x per day for both 2. Jun 6: Amoxicillin 500mg; 4 tablets immediately then 1 pill 3x per day (2 weeks) 3. Jun 21: Augmentin 875mg + 125mg additives, 2x per day (3 weeks) 4. Sep 16: Clindamycin 300 mg, 3x per day (16 days) I am concerned by the number and duration of these antibiotics courses. I was on 5 weeks of continuous antibiotics in June/July.

i was given doxycycline and more metronidazole and finished these about three weeks ago. the tests results for stds and candida all came back negative, but the sympoms are still present. i am going back to the gum the next time i can get away from work, but no one has been able to tell me what kind of infection this is or what kind of treatment will work. i would think it was only bv but the doctor said that it was an infection of some kind.

You may of course have a different problem but I think mine simply stemmed from a tooth infection whch never quite cleared up properly. I also felt some sinus pain on one side so knew there was something wrong but it took a long time to figure it out. Good luck.

My doc prescribed Metronidazole for that, and two days later I had a horrible fever and chills all night long (which I thought was a side effect of the Metronidazole) and my right breast was horribly red and really sore! I also had a cramp in the right side ovary. I went back to the doc, for the ovary pain (thinking the breast thing would resolve itself I stupidly didn't mention it to him).

i finished taking metronidazole 500mg for 7 days and then took a pill for yeast infection for one day cant remenber the name but a week after the npleasant smell is still her ..

I was prescribed it last week for a bacterial infection. Took it 4 times and my face started to break out in a rash. Called the pharmacist and then the doctor. Both said i was having an allergic reaction to the medicine. Both said to stop taking it. I go to the doctor next week to ddiscuss other options. So just watch out for that.....

at first i didnt bother it but after my medication in soar throat and allergy(urcatitaria), my vagina started to became itchy and again, everyday i started having green discharged for `1 week. i went to a gynecologist and she prescribed me a metronidazole miconazole vaginal suppository and ive used that for `1 week.. now what my problem is, my white discharge had stop.. i am also currently taking up medice for my UTI and had experiexed sex but that was like long time ago...

Has anyone ever used oral metronidazole for a vaginal bacterial infection? I'm on my 5th of 7th day and have developed a very thick clear to cloudy mucousy discharge. Is this normal. I know the gel form will pull everything out in a thick white chunky discharge but does the oral pill.

My question is, I think I have a yeast infection after taking metronidazole to treat BV. Is it safe for me to take Monistat without a doctor's diagnosis of a yeast infection? My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin,spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.

I was diagnosed with a bladder infection and a vaginal infection. I assume its bacterial vaginosis because my doctor prescribed Bactrim and Metrogel. But because I have Raynaud's Syndrome, I can't use Metrogel. So my doctor has now prescribed Cipro. But how would either one help with the vaginosis? And as for the bladder infection, couldn't I just take one because they both treat UTIs?

I went to the obgyn last week they ran urine samples and std tests and everything was okay, I told them I’m spotting still for two weeks now three and cramping the test came back for BV so they prescribed me Metronidazole I felt way too anxious about taking it , Friday I went in for a ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound I believe and got the results today that it was fine. htm I had wisdom tooth taken not very nicely. I developed an infection in the area. They prescribed antibiotics to take - penicillin vk and METRONIDAZOLE. (Flagyl) doctors of course dont know if flagyl is safe for me to take,.
