Avatar f tn I was prescribed it last week for a bacterial infection. Took it 4 times and my face started to break out in a rash. Called the pharmacist and then the doctor. Both said i was having an allergic reaction to the medicine. Both said to stop taking it. I go to the doctor next week to ddiscuss other options. So just watch out for that.....
Avatar m tn Most prostatitis is non-infectious. Antibiotics are routinely tried in the hope they will improve symptoms, but mostly they have no effect. Prostatitis symptoms usually include bladder symptoms as well; it doesn't mean there is a separate bladder infection and you can expect your urine culture to be negative. There is no evidence that trich causes prostatitis, but some doctors include one of the anti-trichomonas treatments (metronidazole or tinidazole) if other antibiotics don't work.
Avatar f tn I slept on and off on Tuesday and I didn’t get the Metronidazole filled until Wednesday. I took my first dose on Wednesday and by Thursday my vaginal discharge had changed from the light watery type to thick and white. I don’t have a great sense of smell, but I never once had a bad foul/fishy odor. I waited until Friday to see if the ER would call my back but they never did, so I called them around noon and asked them what the results were.
Avatar f tn Is everything just super irritated down there from the BV, yeast infection, boric acid, and Metronidazole? Like urethritis? Or is all this the BV worstening now that I'm no longer on any medication for it?
429700 tn?1308007823 The scan is straightforward, you go to the nurse, ensuring they have the scan equipement, empty your bladder, and immediately after the nurse smears some electro conductive gel on your bladder area on the skin and holds a hand held device over it. It will show if there is any residual urine and how much.
Avatar n tn I have mild prolapsed uterus, and rectum and maybe bladder that are probably causing my bladder infections? I just found out that I have prolapsed uterus, and rectum. I'm seeing a urologist who is going to do some tests to see if I have a prolapsed bladder. Because I'm 37 and fit the doctors didn't take me seriously after I had my fifth child. My babies were all 8lbs with big heads and my last one came out face up!
587946 tn?1240925653 Since the surgery I have had 4 more infections, one of which my gynecologist did a culture for and it was positive. I took and antibiotic and felt better, but I constantly have a slight burning. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Could that be the issue? I have an appointment to see another urologist in May. I just dont know whats going on.

Avatar n tn s an area on my cheek thats quite hard when touched and painful. Still finding it difficult to open my mouth and my gums also seem to be aching off and on. Could this be an infection? Spoke to GP via phone and he precribed antibiotics with penicillin which I started taking today and wondering how long it will take for some ease to take effect? And when to expect the swelling to disappear? Thanks in advance!
Avatar f tn So just a quick question for all the women that have taken this before for bacterial vaginosis. So I started this a couple days ago and today I had a heavy amount of sticky discharge. This isnt normal for me. So I was wondering if this has happend to anyone else. Is it just the antibiotic clearing the infection.
Avatar f tn I had my tooth removed 2 days ago and have been sufferning (before extraction) with a cronich tooth infection that was only discovered by my new dentist as he drilled abit further into my tooth than the last dentist, he then told me that my tooth was dead, the infetion had killed it and he wanted to save the tooth.

Avatar f tn “This antibiotic treats only certain bacterial and parasitic infections. It will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Using any antibiotic when it is not needed can cause it to not work for future infections. Metronidazole may also be used with other medications to treat certain stomach/intestinal ulcers caused by a bacteria (H. pylori).” Preperation H is an over the counter ointment available in the grocery or drug store. It may help soothe your painful irritated areas.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with a bladder infection and a vaginal infection. I assume its bacterial vaginosis because my doctor prescribed Bactrim and Metrogel. But because I have Raynaud's Syndrome, I can't use Metrogel. So my doctor has now prescribed Cipro. But how would either one help with the vaginosis? And as for the bladder infection, couldn't I just take one because they both treat UTIs?
Avatar f tn the antibiotics caused the yeast infections and i think bacteria kept growing in my bladder causing the infection to reoccur, i couldn't even tell what kind of infection i had yeast or bladder?
Avatar f tn Actually both Ciprofloxacin and Metronidazole can both cause peripheral neuropathy as a side effect of the drug. This can be temporary if you get off the drug right away or permanent. They can also cause tendon rupture and so forth. So that may be the reason why you felt the nerve problems. The diarrhea could also have been a side effect of the medication or it could have been from the Clostridium difficile toxin.
Avatar n tn The doctor told me I had bacterial vaginosis and a yeast infection I think that's why she prescribed metronidazole and she also prescribed a cream (miconazole nitrate) I just wasn't sure if metronidazole was ok to take while pregnant. THANKS GIRLS!
Avatar m tn All other days, I had either some pins and needles in my urethra or in my urinary bladder. Do you have any idea, what this can be? Additional information: There had never been some visible modifications at my genitals; I have been tested for some other infections (HIV, chlamydia trachomatis, hepatitis B/C). All those tests were negative. Thank you very much for some answers. Greetings from Germany.
Avatar n tn Hey I just want to say that I have the same problems that you do but, I get UTI and not the bladder infections. I think it is a side effect because I am on antibiodics everyday for it. Good luck and let me know.

Avatar f tn Metronidazole and clindamycin are shown to be effective against anaerobic microorganisms, though tinidazole was the most recently approved antimicrobial agent for BV treatment, and is considered an alternative antimicrobial agent, particularly whenever metronidazole and clindamycin are unavailable or not tolerated. Being a second generation nitroimidazole with a longer half-life than metronidazole, it requires lower dosages, to be taken less frequently than metronidazole.
Avatar m tn If a STD symptoms can last up to 2 weeks, but you would need specific testing to see what is going on. Since you medicated you would have to wait 3-4 weeks for any kind of testing now.
Avatar n tn Still concerned, went to the STD clinic that day and got the full workup a Rocefin injection, Zithromax 1g pills, and Metronidazole 2g pills. The culture results from the STD clinic are not in yet. I still had the same symptons for 4 more days. However, on the 5th day (today) I still had them but later in the day I went to urinate and saw a small blood clot come out. It looked to be no more than 1/4" or so long, and then had a slight blood urine mixture.
Avatar f tn So I decide to take a pregnancytest before I start my second day on metronidazole. I took the test a 3pm and both test were positive. so I stopped the pills.I was wondering if the medication made my test positive or am I really pregnant.take another prego test? & when?
