Avatar m tn But I am an anxious person and was prescribed beta blocker(Metoprolol ER 50mg and Amlong which was changed to 25mg metoprolol ER and Losartan 25mg after 4 years). Yes I dont have any heart problems and nothing in my family and also not diabetic. My age is 40. Still taking metoprolol only and will go for a review soon and would sort things out. I am happy with metoprolol 50mg ER to Bisoprolol 5mg...
Avatar m tn I am on Metoprolol Tartrate 25MG 2 twice a day. Within 30 mins of taking Metoprolol, I feel the effects and I feel great. My BP and it drops to 100/60 and my heart rate drops to 70 or even 65 BPM. I don't have any side effects from this med. That being said, the issue I'm running into is that the Metoprolol doesn't seem to last as long as it should. If I take the Metaprolol at 7am, by the time 3pm comes around, my BP is 135/92 and my heart rate can get as high as 120 BPM.
Avatar f tn I can tell you that Bisoprolol IS a Class II beta blocker, just like Metoprolol, Atenolol, and Propranolol. It comes with the side effects associated with Class II antiarrythmics. I can tell you that for me, my chosen class II beta blocker Metoprolol did little for my PVCs or to prevent SVTs that I was frequently experiencing.
Avatar m tn I can only answer for myself, but my experience with taking selective beta blockers (like metoprolol, atenolol, bisoprolol) is the same as you experience. I believe it has something to do with lowering the blood pressure so the heart must beat more rapid to keep the pressure up. I switched from metoprolol to propranolol which has less effect on the blood pressure (as it also constrict the arteries slightly) and the problem was more or less gone.
Avatar m tn Since my pace maker, difib implant, I started using metoprolol succ er. When we changed to bisoprolol I have experienced ankle pain, now severe knee pain, and pain in implant area when trying to do bench presses. We have changed back to metoprolol starting today. Befeore implant I could run 25 miles a week without pain. Ater implant abot 10 -15 miles a week, less miles, slower pace with added days to rest in between. This is the first time I am experiencing pain ever. what should I do?.
351404 tn?1299489130 I have been put on Warfarin treatment and my Atenolol has been changed for Bisoprolol. I do have some more tests scheduled as I have some right heart dilatation. My changed regime has been for a week now. However, the bisoprolol is making me feel so fatigued and depressed and my eyes want to shut all the time. As it is such early days, is there an alternative to this drug and should I present myself demanding an alternative, or is this my lot from now on?
Avatar m tn i did one echo that was normal, i only had tachycardia. Doc gave me metoprolol. I was taking metoprolol for 12 days and suddenly felt something like pvcs. When i did ecg back in the hospital i saw several pvcs. 2 years ago i did a holter monitor there i got 208 pvcs. these 2 years i felt totally fine but after taking metoprolol i got pvcs and i have it especially at night. what should i do? can anyone help?
Avatar n tn Forgot to ask.. What has worked to get you back into a normal rhythm or to atleast bring you down from extremely fast beats? For me (toporol) metoprolol givin in an IV brings my heart rate down but doesn't convert me. Adenosine is completely useless. I havent been shocked yet, im hoping that doesn't happen. I tried bisoprolol (zebeta) 5mg oraly brought my heart rate down too much.. it was about 45bpm resting. So im back to 12.5mg metoprolol daily.
Avatar n tn m not sure if there is a chart for comparing beta blockers, but as far as I know, bisoprolol (Emconcor) is about 20 times as strong as Metoprolol, so 1,25 mg of bisoprolol is approx. similar to 25 mg of metoprolol, which again is about the double strength of propranolol. From what my doctor told me, 12,5 mg of Metoprolol is similar to 20 mg of propranolol, but they have different effects.
Avatar f tn I was tried on various beta blockers to start with, but there was only one which didn't give any side effects. I believe it is probably because of the low dosage needed compared to others. I found Bisoprolol was the best one and it only took 1.25mg to have the desired effects. If I increased to just 5mg my heart rate became too slow, around 28bpm. At 1.25mg I could get my heart rate quite high, but it got there nice and gently. No sudden adrenaline surges caused it to suddenly jump high.
Avatar f tn My primary care doc put me on metoprolol 25mg once a day. It lowered my heart rate ...but, it makes me feel horrible. It makes me feel weak, anxxious, dizzy. I tried cutting back to 12.5mg and my heart pounding started again....no tachy but heart pounding. Tonight I went back up to 25mg cause i couldn't stand my heart coming out of my chest....and it was only in the 80s. I feel so incredibly horrible from head to toe. They checked my thyroid and other blood work. I did have low calcium...8.
Avatar f tn I am very tired since I take bisoprolol (called Zebeta in other parts of the world, if I'm right). Should I take magnesium, or Q10, or maybe vitamin B complex? Which could help? I could sleep all day, and also get tired very easily. thanks!

Avatar n tn I have taken Toprol xl 25 mg for about 5 years. My doctor switched me to metoprolol several months ago. When I filled my prescription this time, it was from a different mfg and I think I may be having problems with it as I just don't feel right. Could changing the mfg make a difference? ALSO, my doctor prescribed 50 mg to be cut in half for my prescribed 25 mg dose. Does cutting this tablet in half compromise the time release?
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 34 years old male. For the last 2-3 years I had palpitations and 1-2 episodes of Spvt (or short Atrial fibrillation lasting 10-30 seconds) per Month. (My cardiologist said that based on my symptoms). I have done Ecg, Echo, holter and a stress test. All results were fine. But, I was scared a lot by those episodes and over time, a doctor suggested me to take a low dose of some Beta blockers. I have happily accepted that...
Avatar m tn after having a-fib---then finding out i had a leaky mitral valve which needed repairing-----( i did not have any blockages ) my doctor put me on a beta blocker (metoprolol)----I feel great most of the time---the only thing I notice is when I have to exert myself for a few seconds ( like runing and playing with my dog or walking fast up a steep incline ) I have to stop because of lack of wind and feel exhausted----would this be considered a side effect of beta blockers
Avatar f tn I have been on metoprolol 25mg for two 1/2 years. Then my doctor put me on metoprolol er 50mg. I have been having shortness of breath and minor chest discomfort; i'm only 45 years old and i want off of this medication totally. Has anyone ever wean themselves off of this medication with no problems? If so, how did you do it? Any advise is helpful to me. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hi doctor, I'm writing from Argentina, I find your advice and the forum to be extremely helpful. My case is that I've been taking Corgard (nadolol) in the range of 40-80mg for over 10 years to counter for IST, PVCs and mild/moderate hypertension. The med was a lifesaver for me and did manage to lower my heart rate to a range where I could feel confident. I also received treatmente for anxiety, clonazepam and an SSRI.
Avatar f tn Lately I am getting worse tachycardia even with the 50mg metoprolol twice a day. It seems to come and go in bouts. Overall the metoprolol has helped my tachycardia a lot in the several months I've been on it, but I wonder if it's run its course since the tachycardia seems to be coming back somewhat. I'm only 33, in decent shape, about 178 pounds, 5'11, a bit out of shape but not terribly. I tend to not tolerate exercise too well in that it triggers my tachycardia at times.

Avatar m tn 5mg started yesterday, I was originally taking lisinopril 10mg and metoprolol 25mg. I was fine with lisinopril and metoprolol the only issue was when I get a cough it will last 2 to 3 months, I can't get any sleep at all do to dry cough. The doctor took me out of both medications for 30 days but my HBP would rise especially evening time. The Doctor is now having .
