toprol

Avatar m tn My cardio gave me some samples of 10 mg coreg to take once a day and a prescription to fill if the side effects from the metoprolol do not get any better. The side effects from the metoprolol have gotten a little better - I don't feel as exhausted, though as I type this my heart rate is 52 bpm. Plus when I go walking I can't get my heart rate above 95 bpm. Does any one have any comments on the pros and cons of carvedilol versus metoprolol?
Avatar m tn I think you probably are over the worst of it. Good luck. I hated that medication. If you ever have to go back on it, maybe you can at least do a lower dose. If you have any pills left over, and if you are still having palpitations, you might consider tapering. I went from a whole pill once a day to a half a pill a day for the next few days, to a quarter pill, to an eighth of a pill, to a crumb.
Avatar n tn t a blood pressure question but the medication is for high blood pressure so I thought you might could help me. I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.
443862 tn?1237999439 I don't think the metoprolol, a beta blocker which; reduces the force and rate of the contraction of the heart, is causing this. The medicines that you take for hyperthyroidism might cause some exacerbation of the "hard heart beat" symptoms, especially if they are contraindicated with metoprolol, of course. Your doctor should be on top of this and I would let him know about it, especially if it just started, or is getting worse.
Avatar n tn Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly. Symptoms of overdose may include unusually slow heartbeat, severe dizziness, slow or shallow breathing, weakness, or fainting. NOTES: Do not share this medication with others. Lifestyle changes such as stress reduction programs, exercise and dietary changes may increase the effectiveness of this medicine. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about lifestyle changes that might benefit you.
Avatar m tn I know that Metoprolol overdose feeling; dragging, dull, heavy chest pain. At one point, I was up to 200mg. for a month, so I can relate to what you're feeling. I think you have to weigh the significant risks involving ablation and the location of your accessory pathway vs. drug therapy and living with your condition. How often do your events occur? Are you able to convert them yourself by some means; Valsalva, etc.? At 30 years old, time is on your side.
Avatar n tn , Symptom onset is usually rapid, often occurring within minutes after self-poisoning or a change in medication. Serotonin syndrome encompasses a wide range of clinical findings. Mild symptoms may only consist of tachycardia, shivering, diaphoresis (sweating), mydriasis (dilated pupils), myoclonus (intermittent tremor or twitching), as well as overresponsive reflexes.
Avatar n tn I had a near-overdose on crystal meth in June which scared me. Afterward, I underwent many tests on my heart to make sure I had done no damage to it. I had numerous EKGs, chest x-rays, even an echocardiogram. They all came back normal. My question is, I have frequent almost daily palpitations. One doctor had me wear a 48-hour holter monitor, and I took a stress test. I am also now totally drug-free, and I avoid stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol completely. The palpitations just annoy me.
Avatar f tn I was told not to be too concerned about it, to drink more water, eat more salt, and started on Metoprolol 25mg twice a day. I am now having trouble because my blood pressure is normally pretty low, so I have had to play around with the metoprolol dose to stay upright without dizziness! My heart rate seems to vary SO much. I have days where it is in the 50's on the beta blocker and is never above 90 standing.
Avatar m tn My thinking was that I was having withdrawls from not taking metoprolol but why the symptoms after almost two weeks from taking it? I am tempted to go back on the drug to alleviate these symptoms as they are kind scary. I do not want to be on this drug and feel there is no need for it. I have mild hypertension and proir to metoprolol was taking low dose of lisinopril which I am back on now.
Avatar f tn HTN, chest pain ect.
20748650 tn?1521032211 I did see some information regarding an interaction between metoprolol and this product, but it pointed to an increase in metoprolol bioavailability, which theoretically shouldn't adversely impact the PVC burden? Anyone have any input or knowledge.. Even similar personal experiences with this?
Avatar f tn Metoprolol could be the culprit for you symptoms, but if they're not getting better off the medication, then it may be something else. It's possible that you're having bouts of Afib causing your symptoms, or that your heart is weaker, or you have pulmonary hypertension, or that the valve is leaky. If you haven't had a post operative echocardiogram, then you definitely should.
Avatar f tn I take this medication as well and have been on it for 3 years. I have never experienced depression while on this medication. I believe your doctor is correct in that this is not a side effect of the medication. I have not heard of weight gain from this medication as well. Maybe this is a side effect of your depression? In other words, you are eating more because you are depressed.
558156 tn?1217727396 Overdose symptoms are depressed respitory system, you basically stop breathing, dizzy spells to the point where you feel as though you are passing out, blurry vision. OD dosages are certainly unique to each individual and based on tolerance levels. But I dont think 15mg of ocycodone are going to throw you into an od status.
Avatar n tn Also while ToprolXL is convenient, it comes with a price. Metoprolol Tartrate needs to be taken twice a day but is literally pennies per dose. I take mine at 5am and 5pm so it's hard to forget; upon rising and at dinner.
Avatar f tn The SVT symptoms had diminished at that time any way. My symptoms have never returned so far. If you are experiencing those symptoms again, I would ressume the metoprolol and discuss this with your doctor again. Sometimes it takes some trial and error before we can get it all right. My heart spasms took some time to get better, and I had to try a few meds before I got it right. I have taken 150mg daily of this drug without any adverse reactions for 6 years now.
Avatar m tn Can someone give me either the symptoms or the timeline for an Ibuprofen overdose? And what's going to happen if I don't get treatment? I've taken approx. 40 200mg ibuprofen tablets, 32 hours ago.

Avatar n tn What are your current thyroid hormone levels? Be sure to post reference ranges with results, since ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own lab report. You should be getting tested periodically for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Do you have other symptoms of over medication, such as weight loss, diarrhea, tremors, etc. Do you have Hashimoto's?
Avatar n tn nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, sweating, confusion, weakness. There are more, but easy to find if you search the web. Just taking an amount over the prescribed dose is NOT the definition of an overdose.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, the doctor at the ER (a second visit, while I was still reeling from the aforementioned Metoprolol overdose) was unresponsive to any of my concerns because he was busy trying to change his shift and didn't believe I needed to be in the emergency room. I have also had a barrage of tests to check for healthy veins and such, which have all came back normally.
Avatar n tn My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say. Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?
