toprol

Avatar m tn The ejection fraction was estimated at 49%. At the time of this test I was taking 25 mg of metoprolol in addition to the Lotrel and hydrochlorthiazide. I am thinking that the ejection fraction may have been lower due to this beta blocker, since it was 75% on the echo in Jan. The cardiologist said the test was ok. Could anyone give me more insight to this.
Avatar m tn I know that Metoprolol overdose feeling; dragging, dull, heavy chest pain. At one point, I was up to 200mg. for a month, so I can relate to what you're feeling. I think you have to weigh the significant risks involving ablation and the location of your accessory pathway vs. drug therapy and living with your condition. How often do your events occur? Are you able to convert them yourself by some means; Valsalva, etc.? At 30 years old, time is on your side.
Avatar n tn I had a near-overdose on crystal meth in June which scared me. Afterward, I underwent many tests on my heart to make sure I had done no damage to it. I had numerous EKGs, chest x-rays, even an echocardiogram. They all came back normal. My question is, I have frequent almost daily palpitations. One doctor had me wear a 48-hour holter monitor, and I took a stress test. I am also now totally drug-free, and I avoid stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol completely. The palpitations just annoy me.
Avatar m tn If it is arteritic then large doses of oral cortison are needed to get the sed rate down. The section on emedicine is especially good. If its non-arteritic there is no treatment for the eye problem and visual recovery is usually good. Again emedicine entry is excellent.
Avatar n tn Also while ToprolXL is convenient, it comes with a price. Metoprolol Tartrate needs to be taken twice a day but is literally pennies per dose. I take mine at 5am and 5pm so it's hard to forget; upon rising and at dinner.
Avatar m tn s a very complicated disease and not easy to describe. I suggest you do internet search on WebMD or emedicine and see if you have any further questions. Starbursts are not a common symptoms in AZOOR and more suggestive of cataracts, cornea problems, need for glasses or new glasses RX or macular problems.
612551 tn?1450022175 Thanks, that may be the reason my shift to Atenolol from Metoprolol seemed to require a lower dose. I haven't eaten grapefruit for a few days and it appears my side-effects from Atenolol have subsided. I will continue to take a slightly lower dose, now at 25 mg morning 12.5 mg night, then go back to the 25 mg morning and night. As discussed in another post by me on the BB subject I was experiencing very low HR when in bed, and some serious dizziness.
Avatar n tn If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly. Symptoms of overdose may include unusually slow heartbeat, severe dizziness, slow or shallow breathing, weakness, or fainting. NOTES: Do not share this medication with others.
12182312 tn?1427683956 SSRIs like paroxetine are a type of antidepressant that works by increasing the amount of serotonin in the brain, while metoprolol is a beta blocker which works on the heart. What type of metoprolol are you taking. Metoprolol Tartrate or Metoprolol Succinate?
Avatar f tn Im already on 100 mg 1 time a day of extended release Metoprolol.....and I think, just to appease me, because ive had a couple really really bad days of almost nonstop palps..he said to increase my Metoprolol to 1 100mg tablet in the morning...and 1 100mg tablet at night. Avatar n tn I have taken Toprol xl 25 mg for about 5 years. My doctor switched me to metoprolol several months ago. When I filled my prescription this time, it was from a different mfg and I think I may be having problems with it as I just don't feel right. Could changing the mfg make a difference? ALSO, my doctor prescribed 50 mg to be cut in half for my prescribed 25 mg dose. Does cutting this tablet in half compromise the time release?
Avatar n tn I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.
443862 tn?1237999439 I don't think the metoprolol, a beta blocker which; reduces the force and rate of the contraction of the heart, is causing this. The medicines that you take for hyperthyroidism might cause some exacerbation of the "hard heart beat" symptoms, especially if they are contraindicated with metoprolol, of course. Your doctor should be on top of this and I would let him know about it, especially if it just started, or is getting worse.
Avatar f tn Ok so I've been on Metoprolol 50-100mg a day for about a year for benign tachycardia. It's overall worked good for me. But I've noticed a decline in sexual function, specifically, more difficulty keeping an erection during sex. I'm about to start Cialis, so hopefully that will help regardless, but my cardiologist mentioned that I might try Cardizem. He was suggesting it had fewer sexual side effects.
Avatar f tn David J Elpern, MD, Consulting Staff, The Skin Clinic this article on emedicine is quite comprehensive. It would excellent to bring with you for doctors appointments. You need to register to view (free to register). Once you do, just search on Brachioradial Pruritus.
Avatar f tn I take this medication as well and have been on it for 3 years. I have never experienced depression while on this medication. I believe your doctor is correct in that this is not a side effect of the medication. I have not heard of weight gain from this medication as well. Maybe this is a side effect of your depression? In other words, you are eating more because you are depressed.
Avatar n tn I got the generic form but the cost is very high. Can he switch to metoprolol and take 50mg in the am and 50mg in the pm?
Avatar f tn He told me to wean off of the metoprolol for 5 days while taking the verapamil, and to cut down to 50mg on the metoprolol for the first day and go progressively down throughout the 5 days it takes for the verapamil to get in my system. I haven't started the verapamil yet. Partially because I have a hard time swallowing pills, partially because I am confused about the specifics of switching.
