Avatar f tn Are there any risks/side-effects associated with taking Metoprolol 23.75mgs prescribed for non-sustained VT and Phentermine 37.5mgs prescribed for obesity? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have what seems like a "mild" version of Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia (or a mild dysautonomia). I've been on 37.5mg of metoprolol for 3 years, so I have no idea what my actual resting heart rate is, but on the drug it's in the 50s/60s, so not high at all. The metoprolol definitely helps me feel less on edge all the time, but it doesn't prevent spikes (b/w 100-150) or my heart from getting "stuck" at a higher resting rate for hours on end (80s/90s).
443862 tn?1237999439 Hi I am on 12.5 mg twice a day of metoprolol tartrate and I have been on them for about 2weeks now I want to know will it be hard for me to get off of them cause this med really Creap Me out can somebody give me a good answer please!!!!!!!!!
1347434 tn?1282591778 Im on 100mg of metoprolol and don't experience any side effects- not to suggest the drug is actually reducing my episodes of SVT either. The only thing that seems to help me is a good dose of potassium in my diet.
Avatar f tn I take this medication as well and have been on it for 3 years. I have never experienced depression while on this medication. I believe your doctor is correct in that this is not a side effect of the medication. I have not heard of weight gain from this medication as well. Maybe this is a side effect of your depression? In other words, you are eating more because you are depressed.
Avatar f tn Im already on 100 mg 1 time a day of extended release Metoprolol.....and I think, just to appease me, because ive had a couple really really bad days of almost nonstop palps..he said to increase my Metoprolol to 1 100mg tablet in the morning...and 1 100mg tablet at night. Anyone EVER been on such a huge dose before??? I trust him...but yet....Im scared to take that much!!! ANY info on SVC OR Metoprolol would be appreciated!
443862 tn?1237999439 Hi I am taking metorprolol to slow down my heart rate due to hyper thyroidism. Can anyone tell me, do yuo ever get really hard, loud heart beats? They are not neccessairyl fast, in the mid-80s but very hard and I was wondering if it's the drug tha tis causing it?
Avatar m tn My thinking was that I was having withdrawls from not taking metoprolol but why the symptoms after almost two weeks from taking it? I am tempted to go back on the drug to alleviate these symptoms as they are kind scary. I do not want to be on this drug and feel there is no need for it. I have mild hypertension and proir to metoprolol was taking low dose of lisinopril which I am back on now.
12182312 tn?1427683956 SSRIs like paroxetine are a type of antidepressant that works by increasing the amount of serotonin in the brain, while metoprolol is a beta blocker which works on the heart. What type of metoprolol are you taking. Metoprolol Tartrate or Metoprolol Succinate?
Avatar n tn I have taken Toprol xl 25 mg for about 5 years. My doctor switched me to metoprolol several months ago. When I filled my prescription this time, it was from a different mfg and I think I may be having problems with it as I just don't feel right. Could changing the mfg make a difference? ALSO, my doctor prescribed 50 mg to be cut in half for my prescribed 25 mg dose. Does cutting this tablet in half compromise the time release?
Avatar n tn I got the generic form but the cost is very high. Can he switch to metoprolol and take 50mg in the am and 50mg in the pm?
589617 tn?1218719782 I started to write about how metoprolol worked for me. Then I erased it and started over. Too scary for you. Too depressing to share. Let's leave it at... metoprolol is a good drug and often does work for many people. It is a first line drug choice in that it generally has fewer side effects than many and is fairly effective. Whien I took a LOT of it and with 4 other rhythm drugs, it was still almost no help. I hope it works for you. Blessings to you this holiday season.
Avatar f tn I started taking Metoprolol er a month ago for tachycardia. I take 25mg daily. My BP was not an issue. The med now is not bringing my heart rate down any where near as well as it was in the beginning. When I first took the drug my heart rate was in the 50s ....now its averaging in a 24hr period about 15 bpms higher thank before. What is going on ? Something doesn't make sense ? Why is this happening ? I do not feel anxious. The metoprolol is not working as well.
Avatar f tn After my heart attack and surgery I was put on lopressor and amiodarone for heart irregularities. Because of the bad side effects of amiodarone I was taken off of that and also my beta blocker got changed. My beta blocker was changed to metoprolol tartate ..25mg twice a day. It didn't take long before I noticed that I was having pvc's again (hadn't had while on lopressor and amiodarone) and it has progressed to where it is noticeable every day ......all day long.
Avatar f tn Following surgery and recovery I lost 37 lbs and have kept it off and I was put on a drug regimen of metoprolol and ramipril (ace inhibitor). After 6-months we cut the amount of metoprolol in half. My typical blood pressures for the last 2-years have run 115/65. Suddenly in the last 2-weeks my pressures have shot up and I'm now running as high as 170/100. My stress test is clear.
214864 tn?1229715239 Some of you may know about this, but this information is very important. This is probably the most prescribed beta blocker on the market. I would contact my prescribing doctor immediately if you take this generic form - Metoprolol Succinate ER. ======================================================== Latest News: FDA Finds Fault with Generic Toprol XL -- Problems Reported Earlier by ConsumerLab.com (Date Posted: 8/28/2008) On August 12, 2008, the U.S. FDA sent a letter to Sandoz Inc.
Avatar m tn Walmart of one of the chain drug stores may offer Metoprolol at a lower price.
Avatar m tn I am on Metoprolol 100 mg/day. I feel good no side effects at all, never had. It was fine from the beginning. Before I was on Coreg . Same, it was fine. I do not think you have any side effects from medications at all. You do have anxiety. You should work on that. There are healthier ways to work on that instead of taking prescription drugs. It can harm you many ways on the long run.
Avatar m tn In a word "Yes". The bigger question is: can you remember to take it twice a day...at the proper time? If so, then you can ask your doctor for the chance to try it.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone out there was using Metoprolol for their SVT on an as needed basis??? I have SVT and was started out on this drug and took it for a few months. With ok from my doctor I quit taking it. I hadn't had any episodes for about 6 months then I had one last night while I was sleeping. And it was a bad one, the kind where you think your gonna die. :( My doctor had told me that some people can take Metoprolol on an as needed basis. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I also take Metoprolol twice daily. Everyone is effected differently to drugs. What works great for one; can make another feel miserable. For me it stopped my nightmares, I slept like a baby and kept my HR down nice for years. The only side effect I have ever questioned is hair loss. I also have muscle pains off and on but with me it was related to vitamin and mineral deficiencies and thyroid issues. The stools sound like they may be related to something else.
Avatar n tn Metoprolol is medication for high blood pressure. Bromazepam treats anxiety disorders. An individual can buildup a tolerance, dependence and have withdrawl symptoms from the drug. I haven't seen that drug used to treat heart disorders, in fact it may be contraindicated for heart patients. I don't have a comment on the dosage as that would be a determination made by your father's doctor.
1464004 tn?1384135733 Has anyone had experience with side effects from metoprolol after using awhile? I've been on a minimal dose (25 mgs bid) for over 6 months now. I didn't seem to have any side effects to speak of until recently. I do also have positional vertigo. Not only has this gotten worse as of late but I have become unsteady on my feet and dizzy quite often. I had to get a ct scan for tumor in my neck and it was just horrible!
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I had sexual side effects from taking Metoprolol Tartrate. Are there any BP meds that I can take that do not cause these effects? I have heard of some that I could speak to my doctor about. But I wanted to ask here to see what advice I get from this forum. Thanks so much.
Avatar n tn Metoprolol is a beta-adrenergic blocking agent that is used for treating high blood pressure, heart pain, abnormal rhythms of the heart, and some neurologic conditions. Metoprolol is generally well tolerated. However, this drug may reduce blood flow to the hands and feet, causing them to feel cold. Smoking may worsen this effect. Some side effects include: symptoms of a very slow heartbeat (e.g.
Avatar f tn Beta blockers differ in how much they affect different organs - for example, depression caused by Metoprolol may happen because the drug enters the brain. Atenolol, for example, does not. Magnesium does not reduce heart rate very much. It has so-called calcium channel blocker abilities, which may lower blood pressure and decrease heart rate in the setting of atrial fibrillation (through the effect on the AV node) and it may also have a calming effect (reducing anxiety).
Avatar m tn I got conflicting information regarding how you can take Metoprolol, and I trust what my electrophysiologist told me. Metoprolol is not meant to be taken as needed. The drug doesn't work that way. My GP initially told me to chew on an extra pill in addition to my regular dose whenever I had an episode of SVT, and that it would help slow it. My EP said that you need to build an amount in your blood for it to be helpful and that chewing an extra pill did nothing for the moment.
