Avatar f tn I am 37 yr old female. I do have anxiety and am on medicine for that, but my cardiologist put me on metoprolol, a very low dose, trying to help with my heart rate palpitations. I took my 1/2 pill of metoprolol 2 days ago and felt weird, which could have been just nervous bc I was scared of what it would do to my heart rate. My heart rate really hasn't been too high here lately so that's why I was concerned.
Avatar f tn Any one else on blood pressure medicine and feel awful? I got put on some Wednesday to slow down my heart rate, and I feel like death. I know it's normal to feel bad because my blood pressure is low, guess I'm hoping someone with experience will tell me how long I'll feel like this. I'm about to say screw it, and just deal with the palpitations and heart beating out of my chest. I have a 3 year old at home to run after, and I'm 34 weeks pregnant.
Avatar n tn I have taken Toprol xl 25 mg for about 5 years. My doctor switched me to metoprolol several months ago. When I filled my prescription this time, it was from a different mfg and I think I may be having problems with it as I just don't feel right. Could changing the mfg make a difference? ALSO, my doctor prescribed 50 mg to be cut in half for my prescribed 25 mg dose. Does cutting this tablet in half compromise the time release?
Avatar n tn My electrophysiologist recently put me on a beta blocker (Metoprolol) 25 mg twice a day for hypertension and a ton of other symptoms he said must be due to Neurocardiogenic Syncope. I was diagnosed with asthma a couple years ago and it seems as if the beta blocker is causing shortness of breath and a feeling that seems similar to how I feel after exercising, a sort of chest tightness I would say. Is this common for beta blockers to do to people with asthma?
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone out there was using Metoprolol for their SVT on an as needed basis??? I have SVT and was started out on this drug and took it for a few months. With ok from my doctor I quit taking it. I hadn't had any episodes for about 6 months then I had one last night while I was sleeping. And it was a bad one, the kind where you think your gonna die. :( My doctor had told me that some people can take Metoprolol on an as needed basis. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I've been taking 25mg of metoprolol for a little over a month for SVT. I thought I was going to have an ablation but at my last doctor appt my ekg was normal and doc and there was no need for an ablation. My SVT is caffeine induced and since I quit drinking caffeine I've had no palpatations. He reduced my medicine from 25mg to 12.5 and said if that worked I could eventually quit taking it. He also told me to drink plenty of fluids and walk 40 min. every day.
Avatar f tn I was also having a lot of anxiety and panic attacks at that time. I was prescribed metoprolol 25 mg. My blood pressure is usually normal and after taking the medicine it had been getting a little too low so I was told to take only half. My bp is still getting down to 92/60 at times and is making me feel tired and lightheaded. Has anyone experienced this? I am worried about my bp getting even lower and making me pass out. The nurse at my cardiologist office told me not to skip my dose.

Avatar f tn The metoprolol is for PVC's that I am constantly experiencing. They never go away and are often so strong that I cannot sleep at night. I have had an ultra sound, ECG, stress test and worn a holter monitor. Specialist said my heart looks good except a leaky valve which she seemed unconcerned about. This medication makes me feel so tired and I am concerned about the long term use of it. I have stopped taking it until today because my pvc's are so strong.
Avatar f tn I have tried other beta blockers including metoprolol. Metoprolol did not agree with me. It actually caused my heartbeat to race, or jump quickly, when I would get exerted. I went back to atenolol 25 mg.

Avatar n tn I was struggling with side effects from Cardiezem and asked to have my medicine changed, so I was put on 50 mg Metroprolol Tartrate per day, but began to suffer some nasty side effects--headaches, dizziness, nausea, abdominal cramps, lucid dreams, runny nose, and my heart rate dropped from 75-85 bpm to 45 to 55 bpm's depending on what I was doing. When I would sleep it dropped into the low 40's, and I couldn't focus at work, couldn't exercise.

Avatar m tn Recently had an echocardiogram and was told me Ejection Fraction was a bit low 50 percent. I have a history of high blood pressure and fast heart rate. Just before the test, I took 150 mg of Metoprolol. I usually take this twice a day. Avatar f tn I take this medication as well and have been on it for 3 years. I have never experienced depression while on this medication. I believe your doctor is correct in that this is not a side effect of the medication. I have not heard of weight gain from this medication as well. Maybe this is a side effect of your depression? In other words, you are eating more because you are depressed.
