toprol

Avatar f tn Is there a reason to be taking Lisinopril and Metoprolol at the same time if they are both indicated for hypertension?
Avatar m tn I currently take Amiodarone 200mg a day, Metoprolol 100mg a day, Prilosec OTC 40mg a day. I have occasional Atrial Fibrillation. I was put on the Metoprolol in 2004 (my dosage is much lower now) and the Amiodarone in July 2008. I suffer greatly from panic attacks and extreme anxiety. My doctor prescribed Zoloft for me at 25mg a day for two weeks, then 50mg a day thereafter. He knows all the meds I currently take, of course.
Avatar f tn Can I take Metoprolol Succinate and Indole 3 Carbinol without any drug interactions? I have been taking Metoprolol Succinate for tachycardia for a few years now and have gained weight I was watching the Dr. Oz show and he recommended takig Indole 3 Carbinol for people who carry more weight on the bottom half of their body. It just being vegetables wouldnt seem to effect anything, but I'm juat asking to be on the safe side. I have tried doing my own research but I have not found anything.
Avatar f tn I'm currently on Suboxone 8mg daily, my doctor just gave me metoprolol succ. 25mg. I've been tachycardic ranging from 110-150 so she wants to slow my heart rate and pressure but I'm terrified to take the medication because of interaction and slowing my heart too much. What do I do?
Avatar f tn Beta blockers, such as metoprolol, do lower the heart rate. They are supposed to do that. I also had to limit my metoprolol because of , what I thought, was the lowest rate that I wanted. I also take lisinopril, which is an ace inhibitor, to lower the blood pressure. It works differently and does not lower the heart rate. I think both of these drugs are good in my case and maybe in yours.
Avatar m tn I have gone to two cardiologists. the first, at 4 weeks after surgery, said to take 25mg of metoprolol twice a day.and 10mg of simvastatin once a day. The second cardiologist gone to, after 7 weeks of surgery, because of wanting another opinion has determined the lasix is keeping my blood pressure down for now and that I only need 20mg of simvastatin once a day. he said he would determine if a beta blocker is needed at my next visit which would be in 3 months.
Avatar f tn I take this medication as well and have been on it for 3 years. I have never experienced depression while on this medication. I believe your doctor is correct in that this is not a side effect of the medication. I have not heard of weight gain from this medication as well. Maybe this is a side effect of your depression? In other words, you are eating more because you are depressed.
Avatar m tn How long should a person take heart medication (Metroprolol 25 mg daily) after stent placement?
Avatar f tn A nurse practioner I have dealt with for years says I should go up to the 40 mg per endocrinologist. Also have to take metoprolol for palpitations and shaking and was nervous about that as I have some wheezing and throat congestion from time to time. Doctor's said it is fine. I just wanted to check that this may all be normal as far as adjusting to the Methimazole? Most of my life I have not had the need for any medications and only take supplements which my doctors approve of them.
Avatar n tn Hello! I am a 32 years old female. I had Open Heart Surgery (Tetrallogy of Fallot) at 7. My records indicate that the "problem" was corrected 100% and they did not use anything artificial. They used a piece of "skin" from within my heart to create a patch between both ventricles. For many years after the surgery I was on Lanoxin/Digoxin. When I was in my teens I started having electrical problems in my heart and they used Dilantin (looooong story). I hate that medicine!
Avatar n tn Your cholesterol numbers sound good to me. Metoprolol at 25 mg is a very low dose, some may take lower, I have never been lower that 50 mg myself and my cholesterol numbers are similar to yours. Sorry if I missed your point, but I think you seem to be doing rather well with what you are doing.
Avatar m tn My experience for drugs for AFib that are less expensive and effective generics are a Beta Blocker called Metoprolol and if that doesn't handle the problem (it also lowers the HR and BP, which can be problematic is you HR and/or BP are already low), maybe an anti-arrhythmia drug call Propafenone. The latter is still expensive I recall, I no longer take it.
Avatar n tn I am told this is an excellent medication and typically very well tolerated. I tried Toprol XL before for several months. Did not tolerate it well, mainly due to severe nightmares. Once removed from the Toprol, nightmares stopped. Is this a different class of beta blocker that is safer and what (if anything) should I be concerned about? Meds are aspirin (81), protonix (40), HCTZ (25), Lisinopril (10-20) sertraline (50) and now the 6.25 carvedilol.
Avatar f tn I do not like the palpitations and raised heart rate that I get off of my medication. Anyways, she wants me on metoprolol tartrate. Because I have been on the atenolol for 4 years I have concerns. Will this medication treat me the same as the atenolol. Is there a posibility of not being able to take this medication. Does it have the same action as the atenolol? I appreciate and thank whatever answers I can get. Right now I am trying to lower myself off the atenolol.
Avatar n tn This isn't a blood pressure question but the medication is for high blood pressure so I thought you might could help me. I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.
1717715 tn?1318297295 Hey guys, I take Metoprolol SUCC ER 50 mg once a day for what they THINK is mostly just inappropriate sinus tachycardia and a bit of anxiety that probably grew from that. At normal, my hair was probably the richest and thickest you would have ever seen but now, its getting oily much quicker, and has gotten SEVERELY more thin and light. I'm only 22 and good hair genes runs in my family, its not like im genetically pre-disposed to hair loss. Does anyone think it can be the medication?
4356842 tn?1353312209 Which I have learned is being caused by the digoxin, what I would like to know is there any thing I need to know about switching medication, anything I should watch out for? I am worried about having a bad reaction to the new meds, is it common for that to happen or are the meds for svt relatively safe and give people no problems. also in your opinions what is the best meds to be on? I would just like to get some insight before my appointment.
Avatar m tn s who prefer their patients to give medication a try. If medication fails to maintain NSR, or the side effects of the medication are intolerable...Ablation is then given as an option. I found an article in the Cardiosource Amer Journal of Cardiology discussing this very subject. I will paste the link here for you. You will have to copy and paste this to your browser to view site...Best of luck to you.:) http://www.cardiosource.com/expertopinions/hottopics/article.asp?
Avatar n tn I am pregnant and doctor put me on metoprolol extended release 25 mg once a day and flecainide 100 mg twice a day for my tachycardia. I am currently 31 weeks and have been on this medication for almost a month now. Do you have to be weaned off these medications before breast feeding and what are the side effects on my baby?
Avatar f tn Many people report side effects from Metoprolol when they start with this medication. In most people the side effects go away after taking the medication for a few weeks.
672586 tn?1280933658 Can I simply switch without fear of withdrawal symptoms from the metoprolol? His instructions were to stop taking the metoprolol when I start the new diltiazem. I was not aware that I might face withdrawal from metoprolol.
Avatar m tn I am on Metoprolol Tartrate 25MG 2 twice a day. Within 30 mins of taking Metoprolol, I feel the effects and I feel great. My BP and it drops to 100/60 and my heart rate drops to 70 or even 65 BPM. I don't have any side effects from this med. That being said, the issue I'm running into is that the Metoprolol doesn't seem to last as long as it should. If I take the Metaprolol at 7am, by the time 3pm comes around, my BP is 135/92 and my heart rate can get as high as 120 BPM.
Avatar f tn Again, on my experience and reading, I believe many may get sufficient medication taking Atenolol once a day, in general this is not the case with Metoprolol Tartrate (normal release). There is a higher cost slow release version of Metoprolol. My interest in Atenolol was more than the half-life of the medication. As you may have read my experience so far confirms the Atenolol is longer lasting in my body... only one sample, others may get different results.
Avatar f tn In an attempt to avoid an ablation for SVTs & going to the Emergency Department lately once a month to get converted with IV medication, (I'm older with co-morbidities, there's a pandemic, & really, my ElectroPhysiologist doesn't have a lot of experience doing ablations), my EP & I are trying different medications. I'm increasing metoprolol succinate (the extended release one) from 25 mg to 37.5 mg.
Avatar f tn I started taking Metoprolol er a month ago for tachycardia. I take 25mg daily. My BP was not an issue. The med now is not bringing my heart rate down any where near as well as it was in the beginning. When I first took the drug my heart rate was in the 50s ....now its averaging in a 24hr period about 15 bpms higher thank before. What is going on ? Something doesn't make sense ? Why is this happening ? I do not feel anxious. The metoprolol is not working as well.
