Avatar f tn There is evidence Toprol CAN cause leg cramps. Also, low potassium is murder on your legs, they hurt, they cramp, etc. so I think I'd check that first. Hope this helps and thanks for the question. Take care.
Avatar m tn I started experiencing severe pain in both of my legs about 6 months ago. I purchase my vitamins and supplements from a Holistic Pharmacy and the woman used to be a Doctor in her Country of Romania. She recommended a whole food supplement that contained Potassium, Magnesium, and Calcium. I started it and after 3 days I noticed a big difference. I continue to take the supplement because I don't ever want to experience that leg pain ever again.
Avatar m tn After a lot of dizziness and other pain, and discussions with my doctor, I slowly decreased my dose and have been Metoprolol free for two days. My cough, wheeze, pain etc has almost gone. I have immediately more energy and also no dizziness. My legs and ankles still hurt and I have tight calves. I hope my body returns to what it used to be. My palpitations and tachycardia settled a while back after being aggressively treated for iron deficiency anaemia.
Avatar m tn In those 2 years, I start having more and more heart related symptoms. Chest pain, jaw pain, left arm pain, exercise intolerance, dizziness, vertigo, intestine problems, low energy physically and mentally... I have severe anxiety (panic with agoraphobia, somatisation, GAD, social anxiety). My anxiety is not well control, I'm med sensitive and can't take antidepressants like Paxil, Lexapro or even older ones like imipramine...
Avatar m tn t felt so great. I have leg weakness and dizziness, and run out of breath at the slightest exertion. Rule out medication, as I am only taking metoprolol 25mg per day, and I have got off it for 2 weeks to see if my symptoms improved and my PVC's worsened. Getting off the metoprolol did not change anything. Does that sound familiar, or do you have any idea what would cause my symptoms? A recent sonogram showed good heart function with an EF of 65.

264156 tn?1206986994 5 mg of metoprolol and it dramatically calms things down. Is it okay to take metoprolol as needed? I would say I take it once every 8-9 days, but sometimes have to take it 2-4 days in a row. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!
Avatar n tn I am an 81 year old male. Three years ago I had a pacemaker installed for irregular heartbeat. I am on 3 mg of coumadin daily and have my INR checked regularly. I am also on Novo-Metoprolol(50 mgs daily), Xatrial (10 mgs for prostate) I have been suffering with painful legs with a burning sensation in the legs and feet which makes it impossible to get a good night's rest. The bedding is washed in Tide with no fabric softeners added to the rinse water.
Avatar n tn Beta-blockers affect the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). Metoprolol is used to treat angina (chest pain) and hypertension (high blood pressure). It is also used to treat or prevent heart attack. It seems to me if you have high blood pressure the medication should be taken regularily and not as needed. I don't know the effect it has on chest pain.
Avatar f tn I have taken all test and my heart seem ok and vessels are clear but my left chest pain just above the left breast does not go away. pain sometimes extend to left arm. also i have a left leg slight partial tightness feeling, Shortness of breath, Chest heaviness, fatigued, sleepy and irritable, Excessive daytime drowsiness, . Avatar f tn I am on 25mg of metoprolol for my pvcs, pacs, and svt. I have realized the past week or so it doesn't seem like my medication is easing my symptoms. Is this usual for us to build a tolerance for the medication? Are there other options other than surgery? Or perhaps another beta blocker that I could try? Ideas? Thank you in advance!
Avatar f tn HTN, chest pain ect.
589617 tn?1218719782 I take metoprolol (aka lopressor) for PVC's and occasional SVT. It has been good for me....my PVC's are not gone, but they are not as "forceful" and therefore are easier to ignore. The SVT is very infrequent for me in the first place, so I can't say that the metoprolol has had anything to do with the fact that I haven't had any for nearly 1.5 years, but I'm not going to stop the drugs to find out :-).
Avatar n tn When did the shaking ang cough started? Is this before or after the prescription of metoprolol? Metoprolol is a beta-adrenergic blocking agent that is used for treating high blood pressure, heart pain, abnormal rhythms of the heart, and some neurologic conditions. Metoprolol is generally well tolerated. However, this drug may reduce blood flow to the hands and feet, causing them to feel cold. Smoking may worsen this effect. Some side effects include: symptoms of a very slow heartbeat (e.g.
Avatar m tn Has anyone developed Arthritis like side effects? I started taking Metoprolol (25 mg) in Feb of 2012 and suddenly in August my right hip began to develop severe pain. I did not relate this to being a side effect so had tests which showed "minor Arthritis and small tear in Labrum. The joint specialist started physical therapy and the hip finally got well enough to get off crutches and only use a cane by December.
Avatar m tn For the past couple of months, I have been experiencing pain primarily in my left leg, especially the thigh. The pain is not constant and occurs in several places on my thigh. It occurs most often on the top of my thigh just above and knee and at the middle of my inner thigh. The pain varies between aching, stabbing, and burning. I am also currently experiencing pain on the back and side of my calf at about the middle portion of my lower leg.
Avatar m tn Johnny, I had a CT and d-Dimer that tested negative for any DVTs, because I also thought I was having a blood clot problem in my right leg, too. The leg went numb one evening, before I ever started taking blood pressure meds. Unfortunately, the doctor at the ER (a second visit, while I was still reeling from the aforementioned Metoprolol overdose) was unresponsive to any of my concerns because he was busy trying to change his shift and didn't believe I needed to be in the emergency room.
Avatar n tn His heart beat is currently at 30s but his blood pressure is quite high. He complained about his chest pain and upper arm pain daily. He has excessive sweat and got fainted once last week. We went to see the doctor, the doctor asked my dad to stop taking METOPROLOL TARTRATE (BETALOC) which he has been taking for a long time. The doctor just said if my dad feels chest pain again, send him to the emergency room. What do you think the issue is?
Avatar m tn My mother has a rapid irregular heartbeat (recently, sometimes even despite Metoprolol and Warfarin) and supposedly mild COPD with a possible touch of pneumonia and was hospitalized this weekend because she was saying she was having palpitations and was too tired to sit up and it was too hard for her to breath laying down.
Avatar f tn I recently was prescribed Metoprolol for my migraines. I have been on Topamax for quite sometime but was tired of living in a fog of constant confusion, fatigue, and lack of focus. I was switch to Metoprolol. I have been taking it so far for a week and without fail every single day multiple times a day I have extreme chest pains directly under my left breast. It feels like a stabbing pain. Attempting to breath during an episode is excruciating. Is it due to the new medication?
Avatar n tn Metoprolol is available in two forms, fast acting Metoprolol Tartrate (Lopressor), and the time release Metoprolol Succinate (Toprol XL). I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat.
471161 tn?1317190950 Does anyone know or have experience with taking Digoxin or Metoprolol and did it cause you to have a choking feeling? I have been on both for about 5 weeks now and have had this choking sensation for about that long. I have been sent for an ultrasound of my neck and they found nothing. My Internest acted like it was in my head and told me to take Tylenol. Maybe she thought I was trying to get pain meds out of her. That just didn't make sense. I am not in pain.
672586 tn?1280933658 Can I simply switch without fear of withdrawal symptoms from the metoprolol? His instructions were to stop taking the metoprolol when I start the new diltiazem. I was not aware that I might face withdrawal from metoprolol.
Avatar f tn I take metoprolol and I have had hardly any side effects. It did make me alittle tired but I got use to it. Everybody is different when it comes to meds and side effects. For expample musikbox could not tolerate metoprolol and was switched to atenolol. For me it was the opposite. I could not function on atenolol and had to come off of it and I am having no problems with metoprolol.
595144 tn?1219229276 I assume it needs gravity to get enough blood through to the fingers. Two days ago I experienced pain on the inside of my leg towards the rear just above the knee. Suspecting DVT I had an ultrasound but no obstruction was found anywhere in the nerves from top to bottom of that leg and the pain subsided about 3 hours later. I am already taking aspirin, metoprolol, clopidogrel, perindopril and atorvastatin.
