Metoprolol in mi

Common Questions and Answers about Metoprolol in mi

toprol

Avatar m tn She has no obvious symptoms but her cardiologist has put her on a new regimen of 4 meds (statin, Plavix, losartan, metoprolol)... which she finds terribly overwhelming. My question is ... why both losartan (an Angiotensin II) and metoprolol (a beta blocker)? Don't they both do the same thing by lowering blood pressure and opening up the coronary arteries? She is also tiny in height (5 ft) and I'm concerned that both are too much for her.
Avatar m tn I had a mild heart attack in 2005 and was told when they did a heart cath that there are no blockages and that my MI was probably due to coronary spasm. I have been hospitalized repeatedly since the heart attack and have tried all the usual medications such as verapamil, cardizem, imdur, metoprolol, lisinopril, norvasc and magnesium. I do not tolerate cardizem or imdur well. The angina was not controlled until they started me on Ranexa last year because the pain was constant and severe.
Avatar f tn Her coronary angiogram shows that there are severe stenosis in LAD and RCA and moderate stenosis in circumflex artery. Plus her CAC is more than 400. Should she be undergone bypass or PCI? I wanna know which option will be best for her. Please answer my question. Thank you in advance.
Avatar m tn I have a blood pressure problem taking metoprolol 100mg and also i have elevated heartrate during mornings at rest ranging from 100 to 120bpms for around an hour. thanks!
Avatar m tn On Thursday I was about 26 minutes into my cardio when it felt like someone hit me with a broom stick across my mid back. It caused my breating to gasp twice. I then noticed pain in my center right portion of my back. I continued for about a minute and then stopped my workout early. The pain became positional (meaning I could excacerbate or relieve the pain by getting in certain positions). It was like this all day and then the next day everything was fine. Heart? Or just maybe nerve pinched?
Avatar n tn The PA has told us that her pressure changes are puzzling since they go in opposing directions! What in the world could be causing this?? She has CAD, emphysema with requiring oxygen, and NPH with a brain shunt. She has two stents from a 3 year old MI. Ideas? We are desperately seeking information about this anomoly.
Avatar f tn My husband underwent a quadruple CABG surgery in April 2009. He has had no problems since. He was recently diagnosed with an abdominal aortic and an iliac aneurysm. The one in the iliac artery is 3.5 cm and needs to be repaired, so they are going to also do the aortic aneurysm. They are hoping to be able to do this as an EVAR. My question is I guess if they have to convert to open repair, how much a risk is presented by his past surgery and heart problems?
Avatar n tn My husband had Anterior MI w/multiple cardiac arrests two years ago (comatose x1 week, on life support, sustained MOD, treated with hemodialysis for a month); Anoxic encephalopathy still a problem, with the short-term memory deficit. Also suffered ischemic colitis & GI hemorrhage, secondary to the MI. Anemic (last hgb 13). Has pulmonary hypertension with RVSP of 90, some tricuspid and mitral regurg. ICD/Pacemaker inserted in 2008 for fainting episodes with relief.
Avatar m tn Hi Again Also thought I'd add, I had zero symptoms before my MI, and in fact had done a 12km run in 55mins a few days before, along with a 10km+8km run and a cycle ride to work in the same week... so when I was dragged to ER by my wife with indigestion it was a mega shock to be told I'd had an MI. I've never smoked, always eaten healthy, and done competition cycling and running and leisure surfing, swimming since I was 11yo, right up until the day before...my colestral was 5.

Avatar n tn Hello....I am also in MI. My daughter is scheduled to get a nevus removed from her sclera at the Kellogg Eye Center in Ann Arbor, MI (University of Michigan). The specialists there have been highly recommended to us. Hope that helps!
Avatar m tn Metoprolol caused me hair loss....Bystolic has slowed it down somewhat....
Avatar m tn all due to an MI and stent in RCA. Dr took me off lisinopril due to dry cough about 6 weeks ago and upped coreg to 6.25 mg. cough resolved but I have been having early morning rapid heart beat (wakes me up) in recent weeks and my tinnitus has become much worse. My upper back pain which started while on drugs is also worse since the dosage went up.
Avatar f tn They originate from ventricular pacer cells usually the result of some sort of damage to the muscle in that area. Could be from MI, virus, congenital issue. VTs are classified by how long they occur. The least concerning is called none-sustained ventricular tach (NSVT). This means 30 seconds is called plain old ventricular tach. Arm yourself with info, don't be shy about asking your doc for a copy of your results. Go over it and ask questions.
Avatar m tn A repeat Angio in January 2008 did not show any stenosis. MI was in august 2008. I take beta blockers, ACE-I, platellate and thinning drugs. I am on low fat/salt diet. My cholostrol is within the limits. How to avoid this situation?? Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn you won't be on a time release with standard metoprolol that is why you need to take it twice a day. I don't know why you have to cut in in half, Wal-Mart has generic metoprolol in 25mg tablets for $4.
