Avatar f tn I also have high blood pressure, I go and see a high risk doctor, take a prescription med twice a day, and I go to a high risk clinic. Im also being induced.
Avatar n tn My blood pressure is normally controlled at about 130/70. Yesterday I endured a stressful situatiion, and today my pressure is at 198/95. I just took 50 mg. metropolo. What else should I so? This discussion is related to high blood pressure spikes.
15256956 tn?1439425231 Aaaaah! I feel like a walking Irwin Allen film. 39 year old Male, overweight with high blood pressure (controlled), sleep apnea and under constant barrage of PVC's and PAC's. I'm 242 lbs. Back in 2010 I had a nuclear stress test as a routine investigation into my heart and it came back abnormal so off to the hospital I went for a Heart Cath. I was very much relieved when the Cardiologist there said my arteries were clean and normal. No heart disease.
378273 tn?1262097621 I do not have a history of high blood pressure. However, when I went into my a-fib attacks, my blood pressure would shoot up during the attacks. My EP thought that maybe it was caused by me being anxious during the a-fib attack.
Avatar f tn There are a few things that you can do to increase your blood pressure to see if it makes you feel better (of course, be sure your blood pressure isnt high before doing any of these). The easiest thing to do is to drink a ton of water, 4+ liters a day, this will build up your blood volume and your blood pressure, I always feel better when my pressure is 100/60 as opposed to 70/30.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Majority of cases of hypertension are due to primary cause, where the cause is not known. Secondary causes are due to renal diseases and endocrine disorders. You can check with your doctor to rule out the secondary causes. Also, as people age the incidence of atherosclerosis increases. Blood vessels are narrowed most commonly due to atherosclerosis, a disease where the 'fatty' material in the blood gets deposited in the walls of the blood vessels.
Avatar m tn A change in the two recordings happens due to unequal blood flow to the two arms as may be seen in atherosclerosis, deep vein thrombosis, high blood pressure and cerebro-vascular accidents. Please consult a doctor (a cardiologist or go to ER) as soon as possible (immediately). Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn The data are inconclusive and I have never heard of anyone having an increased level of cholesterol due to blood pressure meds. Your LDL is very high and HDL is low, I would considers some lifestyle changes that include diet and exercise as well as a statin to help get these numbers down because high cholesterol and high BP are two modifiable risk factors and both will be benefited by diet and exercise.
Avatar f tn Well the latest thing is that one of my docs wants me to take Metoprolol 100mg to help with an occasional fast heartrate. My blood pressure is normally very low, around 95/65 or so, sometimes a little higher if I'm working lol! My heartrate doesn't usually get that high but sometimes it will spike to the 130's, but not that often.
Avatar f tn I was then put on 5 medications. One being low dose aspirin. The second was for high blood pressure (I can't remember the name of it - I took one, didn't work, switched to the other) Because I didn't have high blood pressure, and I was having so many problems with that particular med - I was coughing all the time. The cardiologist told me that I could stop taking it because I didn't have high blood pressure anyway.
Avatar m tn What I understand is that beta blocker have usually mild side-effects when they are give to people with high blood pressure... BUT in my case, my blood pressure is lower to normal only and rarely in the high range (only when i'm in a middle of a panic attack or in a situation where I feel trap). So when the blood pressure is already low to normal, then the beta blockers have more side-effects for sure.
Avatar m tn I have slightly reduced my Sotalol dosage because of side effects and have noticed my blood pressure is high today. Could this be the cause? Normally my blood pressure is not high. I take Sotalol for afib.
Avatar f tn I am now having trouble because my blood pressure is normally pretty low, so I have had to play around with the metoprolol dose to stay upright without dizziness! My heart rate seems to vary SO much. I have days where it is in the 50's on the beta blocker and is never above 90 standing. Other days it goes from the 50's at rest to the 120's, even with the metopro l. Can the symptoms of POTS be really intermittent?
Avatar n tn When it was a rough day, my blood pressure was fluctuating from normal to high normal or even pre-hypertension. One day it was 154/93 for a few hours. I think this was the day we went to court. So, my doctor decided to start me on Metoporolol. He suggested 25mg daily along with a 12.5 water pill. I have taken this now for about a year. At a recent followup, the concern is that now my potassium is at a 5.9 when is was at a 4.3 before I started taking metoprolol.
Avatar n tn This isn't a blood pressure question but the medication is for high blood pressure so I thought you might could help me. I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.
475570 tn?1280941363 Who Is More Likely to Develop High Blood Pressure? People with family members who have high blood pressure, smoke, overweight, not active, alcohol to excess, and people who eat too many fatty foods or foods with too much salt...reduce your blood pressure risk and medication.
Avatar f tn I have horrible, willpower when it comes to dieting but I know I need to do it! High blood pressure runs in my family my dad has had it his whole life.I’m on Metoprolol 100mg. My question is does anyone else have this battle? I’m so scared im gonna drop dead!
Avatar f tn I got perscribed metoprolol( a beta blocker) for high blood pressure and tachycardia last week. Since I’ve started taking it I’ve had a mild pain in my chest.
1380526 tn?1292839385 I have back and forth somewhat high BP now. Dr put me on 100 mg Metoprolol 2 times a day. It's still somewhat high at times...Can this be Chiari related? Also is Dr. Rosner still in practice? He did my surgery...I e mailed the office and never heard back!
771913 tn?1343331188 It must be caused by something else (that for all I know also may increase the blood pressure). Blood pressure can increase in response to lots of conditions that may cause symptoms, and we automatically think that we are sensing the increase in blood pressure, which is not necessarily correct at all. What is your normal (baseline) blood pressure between the spikes? Metoprolol will not increase the blood pressure.
Avatar m tn I was concerned i might have high blood pressure, i have minor tinnitus that comes and goes, and my ENT and family doc thought it might be allergy related. But i read that it could be a sign of high blood pressure. Ive never been told i had high blood pressure in the past. Today i was feeling a little stressed at work, i know you cant feel blood pressure, but it felt high. So i left work, and had my wife check it at her office, and i got two readings of 135/90 and 141/93.
Avatar f tn I just had a cardiac catheterization done. No major blockage, so no stent, just a catheterization. The Dr. said there was plaque buildup on the outside of the artery, which causes it to bulge out, rather than the typical plaque buildup narrowing the artery. Just had this done three days ago, and of course I was kind of fuzzy when he was explaining this. Don't go for follow-up for a couple of weeks. Also, they put me on Crestor, Plavix and metoprolol for blood pressure.
Avatar f tn I have high blood pressure 170/90, I take ramipril 10mg, and I am seeing my gp on Tuesday, anyone got any suggestions that willl help me to get it under control. I am not over weight.
