Avatar n tn When did the shaking ang cough started? Is this before or after the prescription of metoprolol? Metoprolol is a beta-adrenergic blocking agent that is used for treating high blood pressure, heart pain, abnormal rhythms of the heart, and some neurologic conditions. Metoprolol is generally well tolerated. However, this drug may reduce blood flow to the hands and feet, causing them to feel cold. Smoking may worsen this effect. Some side effects include: symptoms of a very slow heartbeat (e.g.
Avatar f tn 5mg started yesterday, I was originally taking lisinopril 10mg and metoprolol 25mg. I was fine with lisinopril and metoprolol the only issue was when I get a cough it will last 2 to 3 months, I can't get any sleep at all do to dry cough. The doctor took me out of both medications for 30 days but my HBP would rise especially evening time. The Doctor is now having .
Avatar f tn Ugh, I hate a lingering cough. Couple of things come to mind. First, coughs can last a long time. Once the airway and bronchial tubes get irritated, they take a while to get better. So the least little thing will cause a coughing jag (exertion, changing position to lay down, etc.). It can happen that it takes 2 months to get over a cough because of this. But there are other things to consider. You can get a type of asthma related to having been sick and this airway irritation.

Avatar n tn He has chronic dry cough, he cannot sleep last night. Has hardtime breathing when lay down. He got discharged from hospital fifth day of his surgery. I took him to hospital 2-3 times after surgery they said his lungs sounds ok so there is no need of x-ray. Any insights .
Avatar m tn researcher09 If I understand what you are saying, that means I finally converted on my own. Which means I guess it is time to talk to a cardiologist that is considered an electrician. So hopefully, I can get off most of my medications. The reason I came to that conclusion is the medications didn't work right away and I was still in afib. [Digoxin is contraindicated for AF so I would ask to get off of that. The lung issue can be a complication of the Maze procedure.
Avatar m tn Anyone here have mysterious hacking cough with no causes? Did you ever get it diagnosed? This hacking cough comes at all times but it is worse after eating or drinking. It is just very annoying. Before surgery the cough hacking only happened at bed time It got worse after surgery. I had aortic valve replacement & a maze procedure done in Nov 2013. My cardiologist, pulmonologist, asthma and primary doctor can't find what is wrong, I don't know what doctor to go to now.
1933354 tn?1323362834 Keep in mind that when you switched from Toprolol ER (Metoprolol Succinate) to Lopressor (Metoprolol Tartrate), you lost the timed released advantage. If you were taking 25mg. pills of each medication, you are loosing a great deal of the latter drug's effectiveness as the day wears on. The half life of Metoprolol Tartrate is only 3-7 hours. So you must take it at least twice a day for it to be effective the entire 24 hour period. Also 25mg., once a day is a a very small dose.
1464004 tn?1384135733 So today before going into SVT, my heart fluttered a good long time. No jumping from a single PAC or PVC. It only went to about 160 BPM, a far cry from my usual 220/230, and lasted only about 10 minutes, a benefit of the Metoprolol I believe, but that long, long flutter (no I don't know exactly how long, felt like forever but probably really ten seconds or so) was very scary.
Avatar f tn nobody out there on (Lopressor) Metoprolol? I just cant figure this out..its a Beta Blocker...just like the Atenolol I was on until last Thursday...when I was changed to this stupid Metoprolol...( Ive had 5 doses now)...its not all bad.. it DOES keep my heartrate nice and steady around 62 bpm..AT REST... but if I get up and move around--even walking across the ( very big) room here at work, my heartrate jumps to about 90 bpm in NO time.
Avatar f tn Been on Atenolol (for 15 years) then switched to Metoprolol when the Aten quit stopping the palpitations. Well..I havent felt "right" for a while now. Tired, always feel like I have a SLIGHT case of vertigo..not really dizzy..but...off.... I kept up with my workouts and every other crazy thing in my life. Went to the cardiac workout place on Wed of last week to workout, and I was telling the tecnician about how I had been feeling.
Avatar m tn After a lot of dizziness and other pain, and discussions with my doctor, I slowly decreased my dose and have been Metoprolol free for two days. My cough, wheeze, pain etc has almost gone. I have immediately more energy and also no dizziness. My legs and ankles still hurt and I have tight calves. I hope my body returns to what it used to be. My palpitations and tachycardia settled a while back after being aggressively treated for iron deficiency anaemia.
Avatar n tn 5, hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg, simvastatin 10 mg, citalopram hydrobeomide 10 mg, losactan 100 mg, metoprolol tactcate 25 mg. carbamaze 200 mg. 2 X per day. lpratropium (2 sprays 4C perday), funisolade (2 sprays daily), asmanex twisthslor (1 puff daily), trazodone 50 mg as needed, Hydrocodone 5/500 as needed for pain, ranitidine 150 as needed, chlorphenramine 4 mg as needed. He has had two of these spells today withing 30 minutes of each other.
Avatar m tn Sometimes every 6 beats and sometimes every 2 beats there will be one PAC. Sometimes it causes cough and sometimes brief dizziness. Never had palpitation. When I exercise it goes away completely. Two minutes after exercise my heart goes to below 85 from 135. Then PAC appears. I am taking Atenolol 25 mg but it does not make a difference. my questions: 1) is this dangerous? 2) should I get treatment or as many says, it is benign?
12182312 tn?1427683956 SSRIs like paroxetine are a type of antidepressant that works by increasing the amount of serotonin in the brain, while metoprolol is a beta blocker which works on the heart. What type of metoprolol are you taking. Metoprolol Tartrate or Metoprolol Succinate?
Avatar f tn Im already on 100 mg 1 time a day of extended release Metoprolol.....and I think, just to appease me, because ive had a couple really really bad days of almost nonstop palps..he said to increase my Metoprolol to 1 100mg tablet in the morning...and 1 100mg tablet at night. Anyone EVER been on such a huge dose before??? I trust him...but yet....Im scared to take that much!!! ANY info on SVC OR Metoprolol would be appreciated!
Avatar n tn I have taken Toprol xl 25 mg for about 5 years. My doctor switched me to metoprolol several months ago. When I filled my prescription this time, it was from a different mfg and I think I may be having problems with it as I just don't feel right. Could changing the mfg make a difference? ALSO, my doctor prescribed 50 mg to be cut in half for my prescribed 25 mg dose. Does cutting this tablet in half compromise the time release?
Avatar n tn I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.
443862 tn?1237999439 I don't think the metoprolol, a beta blocker which; reduces the force and rate of the contraction of the heart, is causing this. The medicines that you take for hyperthyroidism might cause some exacerbation of the "hard heart beat" symptoms, especially if they are contraindicated with metoprolol, of course. Your doctor should be on top of this and I would let him know about it, especially if it just started, or is getting worse.
Avatar f tn Ok so I've been on Metoprolol 50-100mg a day for about a year for benign tachycardia. It's overall worked good for me. But I've noticed a decline in sexual function, specifically, more difficulty keeping an erection during sex. I'm about to start Cialis, so hopefully that will help regardless, but my cardiologist mentioned that I might try Cardizem. He was suggesting it had fewer sexual side effects.
Avatar m tn Are you saying that you were already Metoprolol when you did your heavy exercise? If yes, I understand your problem. Metoprolol not only is supposed to take care of your PVC's, but it also prevents your heart rate to go up to where it usually went and the discomfort you felt could have come from that and you must have high blood pressure too because that's what the Lisinopril is for.
Avatar f tn dry mouth, shortness of breath. They did lower my pressure though. Along with these, I took HCTZ 12.5 mg which also have me those same sided effects. Doctor took me off ALL BP meds and my nose bled uncontrollably and I wound up in the hospital and was given clonidine as my pressure reached 100/97. Now I'm on 100 mg of losartan, no HCTZ, only a cough but....my pressure is not controlled and goes up as the day progresses.
